Der volle Inhalt der QuelleOur work is centred around two principal objectives : a fundamental study of polysulfure of the RSxR' (x = 1,2,. . . ) variety ; a study of industrial applications of these compounds in the area of lubrication. During the first phase we have distinguished two main categories of reaction : those leading to pure compounds ; those leading to mixtures which may eventually have industrial uses. We have studied these compounds by 13C NMR and defined an ortho effect for the ortho-distributed aromatic compounds. The study of these compounds by mass spectrometry permits one to correlate the behavior of these additives under electron bombardment with their behavior in mechanical tests. We have also prepared in our laboratory several phenolic (poly) sulfurs which have anti-wear and high pressure properties, in addition to anti-oxidant additive potential due to the presence of the phenol -OH moiety which is encumbered

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThe work presented in this thesis focuses on the synthesis and the structural/physicochemical characterizations of sulfide compounds with thermoelectric properties. Several families of sulphide compounds have been studied with the aim of developing and/or optimizing their thermoelectric performances.A binary compound, TiS2, was synthesized by mechanical alloying followed by a densification using Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS). The structural characterizations have revealed the effect of the elaboration on the microstructure and stoichiometry of the compound. This process induces a considerable reduction in the thermal and electrical conductivity of the material which hindered the optimization of the figure of merit. The ternary compound Cu4Sn7S16 was then developed according to two synthetic routes (conventional and mechanical alloying). It has been demonstrated that this semiconductor compound has a complex structure which promotes an intrinsic low thermal conductivity. The influence of the non-stoichiometry on the thermoelectric properties has been reported. Finally, the CuCoxTi2-xS4 and Cu26V2Sn6S32 compounds were the last interesting results presented. These compounds show metallic transport properties with high power factors. The synthesis and the influence of the Co content on the electronic transport properties have been discussed on the CuCoxTi2-xS4 compound. The effect of mechanical alloying and densification conditions were related to the transport properties of the Cu26V2Sn6S32 compound. Substantial improvement of the thermoelectric performances as reported.These various studies open interesting perspectives for the development and optimization of sulfide compounds for industrial application

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleA comprehensive knowledge of metal partitioning between sulfide liquid and silicate melt is essential tounderstand sulfide liquid enrichment in chalcophile and siderophile elements that can lead to theformation of magmatic sulfide ore deposits.The first aim of this thesis was to quantify the partition coefficients (Dsul/sil) for Co, Ni, Cu, Pd, Ag, Pt andAu at crustal conditions relevant to the Noril’sk-Talnakh region (Russia), through an experimental studyconducted in internal heated pressure vessels at 1200 °C, 70 MPa, and under variable oxygenfugacities.Our results show that Dsul/sil for Pd, Ag, Pt and Au increase with the content of the element in the sulfideliquid, showing that they do not follow Henry’s law, in contrast to those for Co, Ni, and Cu. These Dsul/silcan reproduce the metal contents of natural sulfides of the Noril’sk region, starting from a parent magmaPd- and Pt-richer than the lavas of the region, and invoking an interaction between the masses of silicateliquid and sulfide liquid in order to enrich the latter.The second objective of this thesis was to model Dsul/sil variations as a function of magmatic conditions,using a thermodynamic approach. This modeling allows investigating the variations of Dsul/sil withtemperature, pressure, oxygen fugacity and the compositions of both liquids and suggests that the maficmagmas with the lowest temperatures and pressures and the highest oxygen fugacities are those inequilibrium with the most enriched sulfide liquid

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThe aim of our work was to find new hydrocracking catalysts allowing a selective transformation of vacuum distillates into gas oil. Hydrocracking catalysts are bifunctional, associating a metallic function (hydro-dehydrogenating) and an acidic function (isomerizing). The vacuum distillates containing nitrogen and sulphur compounds, the hydro-dehydrogenating function will be provided by metal sulphides. On the other hand, if gas oil is the desired product, the acid function must be fairly strong. The most currently used catalysts are sulphides of Ni and W deposited on silica-alumina. We chose in this work to use a little different support : silicated aluminas, and to study the effect of heat treatments of this support, calcination or steaming, on the activity and the selectivity for hydrocracking of the sulphided catalysts. Calcination or steaming of silicated alumina brings important modifications of surface and pore volume, but do not modify the characteristics of the solid. In addition, these treatments, and in particular the steaming, create new Brönsted acid sites on the surface. The isomerizing activity of the corresponding catalysts is higher, and consequently their activity in hydrocracking is also higher. Indeed we observed that on these catalysts, the rate limiting step of hydrocracking was the acidic step. At the difference of what is generally observed, this increase in activity is not accompanied by a decrease in selectivity. Thus, the sulphided NiW/silicated alumina catalysts could be excellent industrial catalysts for hydrocracking. We also showed that it was possible to protect the acid sites of silicated alumina during the impregnation by nickel and tungsten, by blocking these sites by adsorption of pyridine. Unfortunately, the presence of pyridine considerably harms the formation of the sulphided phase, which makes the catalysts not very efficient in hydrocracking

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleBy combining well defined experiments and density functional theory (DFT) calculations, we propose a rational understanding of the deoxygenation mechanisms of relevant oxygenate molecules (ethyl heptanoate and heptanal) so as to provide guides to define optimal catalytic systems for the hydrotreating of renewable feedstocks (vegetable oils, animals fats). The hydrotreatment of vegetable oils, with the deoxygenation reaction, is an alternative route to transesterification and can be used to obtain high quality diesel. The transformation of oxygenated model compounds was studied under a total pressure of 1.5 MPa, at 523 K, in a fixed bed reactor over various unsupported transition metal sulfide catalytic phases (TMS). Results have shown the influence of the sulfide phase on the selectivity for deoxygenation reaction (hydrodeoxygenation (HDO) and/or decarbonylation/ decarboxylation (DCO)) and the specific reactivity of the rhodium sulfide for the transformation of ethyl heptanoate. The study of the transformation of heptanal shows the reaction of deoxygenation is preferentially following the HDO pathway over all the catalysts. In our reaction conditions, heptanal was identified as a reaction intermediate of this deoxygenation pathway. The promoting effect of cobalt and nickel on the activity of monometallic molybdenum sulphide was observed for the transformation of heptanal. The relation between the deoxygenation and HDO rates and the ab initio calculated sulphur-metal bond energy E(MS) in the bulk TMS is following a volcano curve. Bimetallic sulfide NiMoS (0.43), with an intermediate E(MS) (127 kJ.mol-1), is found as the most active TMS for both reactions. The maximum of the HDO/DCO selectivity is obtained for the mixed catalyst CoMoS (0.1). Thanks to catalytic results and ab initio calculations, two reaction pathways are proposed for HDO and DCO reactions

In France, it is envisaged byAndra (French national radioactive waste management agency) that high-level radioactivewastes will be confined in a glass matrix, stored in a stainless steel canister, it self placed in a carbon steel overpack. The wastes will then be stored at a depth of ~500 m in a deep geological repositery, drilled in a very stiff (indurated) clay (argillite) formation. The kineticsof corrosion expected for the overpack in this disposal concept are low and will stay low if the somehow protective rust layer that will develop initially on the steel surface remains undamaged. Local changes of the physico-chemical conditions may however degrade this layer and induce accelerated kinetics of corrosion. In particular, the growth of sulphate reducing bacteria (SRB) close to the steel overpack cannot be excluded and the sulphid especies these micro-organisms produce may modify the corrosion process. The aim of this work was then to achieve a better understanding of the corrosion system constituted with steel, its rust layer mainly made of siderite FeCO3, and a sulphide-containing electrolyte.First, it proved necessary to characterise the iron sulphides involved in the corrosion processes by Raman micro-spectroscopy so as to study their formation and transformation mechanisms in various conditions of Fe(II) and S(-II) concentration, pH, temperature andaeration. It could be demonstrated that the Raman spectrum of mackinawite FeS, thecompound that precipitated in any case from dissolved Fe(II) and S(-II) species with the experimental conditions considered here, depended on the crystallinity and oxidation state.Moreover, the mechanisms of the oxidation of mackinawite into greigite Fe3S4 in acidicanoxic solutions at 80°C could be described. Finally, iron sulphides, often present on archaeological artefacts, could be identified using Raman micro-spectroscopy. The compounds present were mainly mackinawite and greigite.Secondly, to investigate the nature and properties of carbonated rust layers, carbonsteel electrodes were polarised anodically in NaHCO3 electrolytes continuously de-aerated byan argon flow. The experiments were performed at room temperature. The carbonated greenrust was observed to form at 0.003 and 0.1 mol L-1 NaHCO3 whereas FeCO3 was obtained atthe largest concentrations (0.5 and 1 mol L-1). Additional experiments were performed similarly in solutions of NaHCO3 and Na2SO4. Chukanovite, the Fe(II) hydroxycarbonate with formula Fe2(OH)2CO3, could be obtained in solutions containing 0.03 mol L-1 of eachsalt.Finally, interactions between sulphide species and corrosion products were studied.Siderite, goethite and lepidocrocite proved to be reactive towards sulphide. So, it seems clear that sulphide species produced by SRB should interact with the rust layer before to reach the metal underneath. Tests were performed with ferrous archaeological artefacts immersed 2months in anoxic sulphide-containing electrolytes to demonstrate it. The main effect of theimmersion was the formation of iron sulphide at the interface between the dense corrosion products layer, mainly constitute of siderite, and the transformed medium, where minerals ofthe soil are mixed with corrosion products. A heat treatment, aiming to provoke this phase transformation, is currently used to reduce this effect. In order to propose more efficient treatments, a complete study going from identification of the transformation mechanisms to the modelling of the transformation was carried out. Depending on stoichiometry and temperature, two mechanisms for the transformation (partitioned or partitionless) have been evidenced by detailed microstructural and calorimetric studies which give the main lines for the modelling. An in situ following of the transformation by optical microscopy has provided information (like nucleation rate and interface migration velocity) necessary to build the kinetic models. This modelling which described the transformation under isothermal treatment can be further extended to anisothermal condition closer to the industrial one

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleIn the context of more and more severe environmental regulations on the sulfur content in gasoline and diesel feeds, the objective of this work was the development of new highly active nickel-tungsten unsupported sulfide catalysts. These hydrotreating catalysts were prepared according to three different procedures called solid-liquid, liquid-solid and liquid-liquid routes, depending of the state of the tungsten and nickel precursors involved in the reaction. All of them used (NH4)2WO2S2 salt as a source of tungsten, but various nickel compounds were utilized. The preparations have been optimized using thiophene as a model molecule for the hydrodesulfurization catalytic test, and the corresponding solids characterized by their textural properties (BET and BJH methods), XRD, XPS, TEM and EXAFS analysis. The preparation following the liquid-liquid route and in which the ammonium oxothiotungstate and the nickel nitrate are the precursors led to a catalyst twice more active than the industrial reference. Moreover, evaluation of the unsupported catalysts for hydrogenation of toluene and hydrodeazotation of pyridine has confirmed the interesting hydrotreating properties of this new “NiWS” system

Der volle Inhalt der QuelleThis manuscript deals with the functionalization of the polyoxometalate [P2V3W15O62]9– by organic ligands. The first part is dedicated to a general introduction of POMs and their functionalization, especially the grafting of diol-amides into the Dawson type POM TBA5H4[P2V3W15O62]. The second part of this dissertation reports the synthesis of POM-diol-carbonyl organohybrids. A study of the chemoselective oxidation of sulfides by these hybrids was conducted. The final chapter describes complexation, by C-H activation, of POM-pyridine-diol-amide hybrids and palladium. These new complexes were subsequently successfully used as recyclable catalysts for sulfonimines and aldehydes allylation. Finally, an investigation about the folding of a tripeptide around the POM [1-P2W17O61]10– was carried out, using high field NMR. The spectra show the interaction between the organic moiety and the inorganic structure
