The purpose of this article is to analyze the effect of different forms of violence on Mexican women’s attitudes and decision-making capacity. Specifically, attitudes toward gender equality are included as a mediator between violence and women’s decision-making capacity. Results reveal that attitudes are a partial mediator between physical, sexual, and psychological violence and women’s decision-making capacity. While physical, economic, and sexual violence negatively affect women’s decision-making capacity, economic violence against women increases their involvement in decision-making.

Sexual violence refers to any sexual act that is experienced as a threat or violation and takes away an individual’s ability to control intimate contact (Adams, 2005). This study seeks to investigate and evaluate the phenomena of spatial gender-based violence in Albania. It asks in what ways are gender-based violence patterns and prevalence vary in different regions of Albania. Furthermore, which demographic, political, cultural, and socioeconomic factors are responsible for these regional variations? The study benefits from the frameworks of intersectionality theory and spatial analysis and uses the literature to search for relevant variables that act as intersecting identities contributing to unique forms of violence and discrimination. For centuries women’s agency in the built environment of their homes, communities and workplace was limited by an absence of ownership and control of these spaces. Even as women gained equal rights to land ownership, their capacity to develop that land was limited by social and cultural structures. Access to employment changed for women living in rural areas when the rose industry developed, especially around Cayambe and Cotopaxi, creating jobs near their home communities. Over fifty-one percent of current industry jobs are held by women, with higher number in the early years. Using participat

This study raises three questions to better comprehend the crisis women face in Algeria today: how are the state and the opposition groups addressing and defining women’s contemporary status, what is the link between women’s status and violence against them, and what are the tactics both of resistance and accommodation that Algerian women are using to survive in such a context? Throughout this study, the term “Islamic Fundamentalists” refers to movements and people in Algeria who use the “recovery” of early principles of the Ideal Muslim Community to develop their idea of a future Islamic “soc

As development practitioners, we must ensure that programs are implemented in such a way as to minimize gender-based violence risks for all participants. This involves understanding risk and prevention factors and implementing appropriate measures and resources to help mitigate these risks in order to guarantee that women’s economic empowerment programs give women the intended tools and opportunities without exposing them to violence. This guide is a tool for developing and implementing strategies to combat gender-based violence, and more specifically domestic violence. It is chiefly intended

Violence Against Women (VAW) and girls can take many forms globally, from the absence of personal agency to sexual violence and domestic abuse. To better understand how VAW affects women in the Middle East in particular, this policy brief addresses various instances of violence against Kurdish women in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI). A particular focus is given to forced/arranged marriages, honour-based violence, and female genital mutilation, which form a ‘patriarchal trifecta’ of oppression: a phenomenon that the author has identified and researched extensively.
