The genus Machairocentron is revised and its included species, M. ascanius Schmid 1982, M. echinatum (Flint 1981), M. falciforme Pes & Hamada 2013, M. lucumon Schmid 1982, M. tarpeia Schmid 1982, and M. teucrus Schmid 1982, are redescribed and illustrated based on type specimens. Two new species from Costa Rica, M. chorotegae sp. nov. and M. eugeniarguedasae sp. nov., and one from Venezuela, M. kalinae sp. nov., are described. An identification key for the Machairocentron genus is also provided.

Four new species of Xiphocentron (Antillotrichia) Brauer, 1870 from the Atlantic forest are diagnosed, described and illustrated. All of them have a small mesal sclerite and a set of spines, differing in size, density and position, on the inner face of the inferior appendage. Moreover, tergum IX varies mostly in the shape of the posterior margin. Four species are described as new for science. Xiphocentron (Antillotrichia) copacabana sp. nov. is distinguished mainly by the projected basoventral margin of the inferior appendage, the spines are clustered in two regions and the quadrate posterior

Abstract The Paduniella andamanensis species group (“andamanensis” group) is notable for its morphological consistency and contains the only species in the family Psychomyiidae with markings recorded on its wings, Paduniella fasciaria Peng & Sun, 2024. To elucidate the phylogenetic status of “andamanensis” group and placement of the family Psychomyiidae, mitochondrial genomes of 22 psychomyiid species from 6 genera, plus 2 species from Xiphocentronidae, were sequenced and analyzed. The mitogenomes of 4 genera are documented for the first time. Four novel gene rearrangement patterns for Tri
