Resumen
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to go beyond the leader-centric approach to highlight the shared leadership phenomena happening in organizations where there is no head leader. Seeing interactions between the orchestra members through the lens of aesthetics is a useful way of understanding leadership phenomena. Design/methodology/approach – The different approaches used are interviews, participant observation, analysis of video, photo materials and journalist review. Findings – The managerial evidence says that without a head leader nothing is possible in organizations with a high level of complexity is not proved in a conductorless orchestra. The orchestra without a conductor shows that leadership is an aesthetic phenomenon. The conductorless orchestra is enhancing the sensitivity of organizational practices in a situation where beauty is a common goal to achieve. Studying leadership through the aesthetic lens is very relevant to understand this phenomenon, and shows that leadership is a co-construction between leaders and followers (and therefore negotiated). Research limitations/implications – It has to be compared to a non “amateur” orchestra where power struggles are maybe more visible. Originality/value – No study has been done on aesthetics and the no-conductor orchestra.

Resumen
<p>Taking into consideration the popularity of organizational aesthetics in organizational behavior literature, and adapting dynamic capabilities perspective, we suggest that organizational aesthetic capability is an important competence that enables organizations to cope with the environmental uncertainty. Nonetheless, organizational aesthetic capability is rarely addressed in the technology and innovation management literature. Specifically, we know little about what organizational aesthetic capability is, its ingredients and benefits, and how it works in innovation context. Addressing this particular gap in the literature, this study contributes in two ways. First, we conceptualize organizational aesthetic capability and its sub-dimensions that are alert imagination, to act and defer, awareness of dissonance, analyzing past actions, prefiguring future trajectories, preserve existing modes of operation, willingness to change direction, recognizing symbols in use, and awareness of language. Second, the theoretical framework we proposed highlights the effects of organizational aesthetic capability on product and process innovativeness.</p>

Resumen
Scholars adopting a relational ontology of organisational creativity have shifted attention away from a preoccupation with individual minds towards that which is enacted, emergent, shared, unpredictable and contingent. This article follows suit, yet breaks new ground by reconsidering how the mind plays an active role in unfolding creative interactions by building a bridge between literature on organisational creativity, aesthetics and philosophy of imagination. I draw on English Romanticism to craft a theoretical model of organisational creativity as an aesthetic and relational process of shared imagining. This model demonstrates how organisational members use primary and secondary modes of imagination and creative expression to develop, materialise and share perceptions and images of possible futures. By elaborating on their interplay, this article contributes to literature by theorising an active and generative role of mind that does not have the ontological shortcomings of leading theories. In turn, this has a number of implications for literature on entrepreneurship and organisational creativity in terms of situating and embodying creative thinking, explaining the intentionality and motivation for creative actions, overcoming perceptual differences and changing practices and routines.

This study aimed to seek answers to the following research question "How does the learning process of professional from a kitchen of a restaurant occurs, what are the elements which characterizes it as social learning and what is the role of the Head Chef in this process?". To be able to answer the question, a general objective was established to perform the description and interpretation of social learning processes present in the work of professionals in the kitchen of a restaurant in the metropolitan Sao Paulo area. Three specific objectives were also established: a) to describe the workplace and show the daily activities of the professionals working at the kitchen, b) identify and analyze work and learning processes adopted by the professionals mentioned, and c) to interpret the learning occurring in the workplace studied by the lens of social learning theory of Bente Elkjær and theoretical elements presented by Antonio Strati and John Dewey in relation to aesthetics in organizations. To find elements that could represent answers to the research question it were used ethnographic research techniques based on indications of André (1999). I remained in the field for 14 months, in total it was 62 days of participant observation, 1,156 photos were taken, 363 vídeos recorded with total duration of 12:48:15 hours, 11 in-depth interviews were conducted with every professional from the investigated kitchen, totaling 23:06:58 hours of recording material and 614 pages of transcriptions. For the organization of the final text I brought to the text narratives present both in the speeches of the participants, images were also used, as well as field diary notes and photographs. The text was organized through the narratives shared by the participants in based on Riessman (2008). I analyzed the elements and ingredients that made possible understanding the lessons learned through the Theory of Social Learning from Bente Elkjær. Sense and sensations activities present in the investigated material were analyzed by elements present in the work related to aesthetics from Antonio Strati and John Dewey. Based on the data analysis it was possible to answer the research question: learning at the professional kitchen occurs due to the presence and due to the shared common goals in the social world they belong to. They are the results of experiences, thoughts, habits and transactions in which they engage in their daily lives. The chef has a key role to share his knowledge and encourage the learning process with each member of his kitchen brigade, offering them the opportunity to perform new tasks, new elements to savor, to develop their senses and fully live the sensations found in each of the preparations that the group is involved. In addition to these roles, he has an obligation to govern with perfection the brigade, enabling each member to reach the acme of perfection in the execution of their work offering everyone the chance to taste each learning ingredient present in the social world of the kitchen.

When we examine how and why decisions get made in the indexing enterprise writ large, we see that two factors shape the outcome: economics and aesthetics. For example, the Library of Congress has reduced the time and effort it has spent on creating bibliographic records, while the Library and Archives Canada has begun coordinating the work of librarians and archivists in describing the documentary heritage of Canada (Oda and Wilson, 2006; LAC, 2006). Both of these initiatives aim at reducing costs of the work of description. They are decisions based on economic considerations. When engaged in deciding what fields, tags, and indicators to use in cataloguing, librarians consider the cost of labour and whether or not the system will use that work for display and retrieval. On the other hand, international bodies craft standards that are designed to shape the indexing enterprise. For example, we see the form of controlled vocabularies in ANSI/NISO Z39.19-2005. We then evaluate such vocabularies as to whether or not they comport with that form. This is one interpretation of the aesthetic consideration of indexing. We can take this further. We can look at indexing theory and, for example the work of Ranganathan and the CRG, and compare instantiations of classification schemes as to whether or not they are truly faceted. These examples result from designers and implementers of description and identification systems asking: what is good enough? When is my framework for information organization good enough? Though each of these acts is governed by a different purpose (sometimes pragmatic, sometimes artistic), the acts involved, the identification and description of resources, is measured against both economic and aesthetic concerns: how much does it cost, and how well does it comply with an abstract form, how is it evocative of our human urge to name and organize? Information organization frameworks, like those discussed above, comprise structures, work practices, and discourses. Examples of structure would be: the bibliographic record, the archival description, and the list developed by the patrons of the art installation. Work practices enable, result in, and evaluate structures, and the discourse shapes how priorities and purposes are aligned in both work practices and structures. Key to all examples of and components of Information Organization Frameworks are considerations of cost and compliance with abstract form (standardization or design). This paper explores the diversity of information organization frameworks, looking specifically at how aesthetic concerns and economic concerns manifest their work practices, structures, and discourse. In order to do this I examine the manuals and policies that shape work practice, the structures and their paratextual material (introductions, how-to-use guides, etc.), and the literature that references these practices and structures. I take the position that we need to move into a more descriptive stance on practices of knowledge organization, not only in documentary heritage institutions (libraries, archives, and museums), but also into the cultural and artistic realms. By expanding the scope of inquiry we can interrogate the integrity of my assertion above that information organization frameworks wrestle with, and manifest along a spectrum drawn from economic to aesthetic decision-making. This project, investigating the economic-aesthetic axis of information organization frameworks, follows the recent development in knowledge organization research, which is moving from prescriptive (how to design systems) to a descriptive (what systems are being built, how and why) approach, (Beghtol, 2003; Andersen, 2005). By engaging in this work, we grow more familiar with not only the professional concerns with knowledge organization, but rather, expand the scope of our inquiring into the knowledge organization practices for various purposes, and develop a deeper understanding of the human urge to name and organize.

Resumen
With the unprecedented rise in the use of visuals, and its undeniable omnipresence in organizational contexts, as well as in the individual's everyday life, organization and management science has recently started to pay closer attention to the to date under-theorized "visual mode" of discourse and meaning construction. Building primarily on insights from the phenomenological tradition in organization theory and from social semiotics, this article sets out to consolidate previous scholarly efforts and to sketch a fertile future research agenda. After briefly exploring the workings of visuals, we introduce the methodological and theoretical "roots" of visual studies in a number of disciplines that have a long-standing tradition of incorporating the visual. We then continue by extensively reviewing work in the field of organization and management studies: More specifically, we present five distinct approaches to feature visuals in research designs and to include the visual dimension in scholarly inquiry. Subsequently, we outline, in some detail, promising avenues for future research, and close with a reflection on the impact of visualization on scientific practice itself. (authors' abstract)

An automatic photo assessment can significantly aid the process of photo selection within photo collections. However, existing computational methods approach this problem in an independent manner, by evaluating each image apart from other images in a photo album. In this thesis, we explore the modeling of photo context via a clustering approach for photo collections and the possibility of applying such context information in photo assessment. To better understand user actions within photo albums, we conduct experimental user studies, where we study how users cluster and select photos in photo collections. We estimate the level of agreement between users and investigate how the context, defined by similar photos in corresponding clusters, influences their decisions. After studying the nature of user decisions, we propose a computational approach to model user behavior. First, we introduce a hierarchical clustering method, which allows to group similar photos according to a multi-level similarity structure, based on visual descriptors. Then, the photo context information is extracted from the obtained cluster data and used to adapt a pre-computed independent photo score, using the statistics-based data and a machine learning approach. In addition, as the majority of recent methods for photo assessment are based on convolutional neural networks, we explore and visualize the aesthetic characteristics learned by such methods

Resumen
Abstract A model of the industrial design process for mass produced consumer products is proposed and described. The model can be used to design products subject to ergonomic, manufacturing, and aesthetic constraints. Injection molding is assumed as the primary manufacturing process for the artifacts designed. The four stages of the model, component organization, surface styling, product detailing, and graphical design are discussed. A computer-based implementation of the model is presented. As input to the system, users provide a selection of product components (e.g. speakers, displays, etc.) and choices for product attributes, including an aesthetic style. The system outputs a complete design of all visible surfaces of the product in the chosen style. An important result of the work is a verification of a basic method for capturing and imposing aesthetic styles on product designs.

Resumen
Auditory-display research has had a largely unsolved challenge of balancing functional and aesthetic considerations. While functional designs tend to reduce musical expressivity for the fidelity of data, aesthetic or musical sound organization arguably has a potential for representing multi-dimensional or hierarchical data structure with enhanced perceptibility. Existing musical designs, however, generally employ nonlinear or interpretive mappings that hinder the assessment of functionality. The authors propose a framework for designing expressive and complex sonification using small timescale musical hierarchies, such as the harmony and timbral structures, while maintaining data integrity by ensuring a close-to-the-original recovery of the encoded data utilizing descriptive analysis by a machine listener.

Resumen
Recently, many people in various countries have preferred private healthcare organizations in Turkey for treatment. The most important reason for this situation is that medical operations performed with modern techniques in source countries are also performed in Turkey and at affordable prices. Because of the low cost, high quality, and technology standards, foreign patients prefer Turkish health institutions in almost every field such as plastic and aesthetic surgery, hair transplantation, eye surgery, in vitro fertilization, open-heart surgery, dermatological diseases, checkups, cancer treatments, otorhinolaryngology, dialysis, cardiovascular surgery, gynecology, neurosurgery, orthopedics, dentistry, spa, physiotherapy, and rehabilitation. The 2013 report of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) states that the number of international patients in Turkey has increased in recent years but is still behind the numbers of patients traveling for treatment purposes around the world. Important achievements, particularly in the fields of transplantation, genetic testing, eye surgery, cardiology, orthopedics, plastic surgery, and dentistry, bring Turkey to the forefront of health tourism. This study emphasizes the economic dimensions of health tourism by discussing the improvement of health tourism in Turkey. Advantages, disadvantages, and future opportunities for health tourism in Turkey are examined in terms of diversification of the country’s tourism, economic dimensions, and alternative tourism opportunities. In this context, the study mentions the notion of health tourism, boosting health tourism around the world and in Turkey, and the place and economic dimension of Turkey within world health tourism.

Resumen
Healthcare is the world’s largest industries today. Incorrect decisions which have been taken in any industrial enterprise would impact year-end balance sheet or in worst case scenario, temporary economic downturns. However, mistakes which are made in the management of health industries would end up lowering quality of human life which could give rise to deterioration of the welfare society. Management philosophy of the health care institutions has a direct impact to solution of health issues. Therefore, their approach of management play an important role in the development of quality of life. Knowledge and individual skills of those involved in the management of health managers at different levels of organization is crucial for the future of the company and consequentially for welfare of nation. In this study; Aesthetic Medicine which is one of the most exclusive and ever-developing areas of health institutions has been analyzed. These institutions aim to enhance their social perception by improving their appearance with noninvasive aesthetic treatments and by providing preventive treatments to maintain their youthful appearance. The frequency of the applied treatments in aesthetic medical institutions varies according to their clients' economic welfare, socio-cultural evolution of their society, sex, age range and many other sociological parameters. In order to meet the expectations in health institutions, it is crucial to determine the correct customer profile by utilizing present opportunities of the sector. This study is prepared to present an approach to create sectoral innovation by drawing attention to self-renewing business growth methods for aesthetic medicine management.
