The aim of the research is to study the intensity of heavy metals accumulation in milk thistle leaf mass under fertilization with the latest types of fertilizers and to assess the environmental safety of such raw materials. Two experiments were laid in the research: the effect of fertilizing milk thistle with organo-mineral fertilizer Growth-concentrate on the intensity heavy metals accumulation by its leaf mass; the effect of fertilizing milk thistle with chelated fertilizers Phosphorus-chelate and Potassium-chelate on the intensity on heavy metals accumulation by the leaf mass. Irradiation of FeDTPA-containing nutrient solutions by a fluorescent plus incandescent light source resulted in the loss of both Fe-chelate and soluble Fe, the formation of a precipitate that was composed mostly of Fe, and a rise in pH. The rate of Fe-chelate photodegradation in solution increased with irradiance intensity and with solution temperature under irradiation, but irradiance had the greater effect. Fe-chelates absorb in the blue and UV regions of the spectrum. Removal of these wavelengths with a spectral filter eliminated photodegradation. Chemical name used: ferric diethylenetriami

All the chelated micronutrients were applied in the form of EDTA with the exception of Fe (EDDHA). However, all the non-chelated elements were in the form of sulphate. Lanthanide chelates are effective agents for improving contrast in MR images. Optimizing the relaxation of inner sphere water molecules is a common focus of research in this field. However, the efforts to design an optimal contrast agent have commonly over-looked the relationship of water position and water exchange kinetics. This work explores structural conformation, the impact of very fast water exchange kinetics on hydration, and differing tumbling rates for regioisomers of a number of lanthanide chelates. We have grown crystals of LnDOTMA and obtained structural data by X-ray diffraction

Resumen
AbstractDietary iron (Fe) deficiency affects 14% of the world population with significant health impacts. Biofortification is the process of increasing the density of vitamins and minerals in a crop, through conventional breeding, biotechnology approaches, or agronomic practices. This process has recently been shown to successfully alleviate micronutrient deficiency for populations with limited access to diverse diets in several countries (https://www.harvestplus.org/). The Fe breeding target in the HarvestPlus program was set based on average rice consumption to fulfil 30% of the Estimated Average Requirement of Fe in women and children. In this review, we present the reported transgenic approaches to increase grain Fe. Insertion of a single or multiple genes encoding iron storage protein, metal transporter, or enzyme involved in the biosynthesis of metal chelator in the rice genome was shown to be a viable approach to significantly increase grain-Fe density. The most successful approach to reach the Fe breeding target was by overexpression of multiple genes. Despite this success, a significant effort of 8–10 years needs to be dedicated from the proof of concept to varietal release. This includes large-scale plant transformation, event selection, collection of data for premarket safety assurance, securing biosafety permits for consumption and propagation, and collection of data for variety registration.

Resumen
Whole grain wheat has a diverse supply of hydrophilic and lipophilic antioxidants which include phenolic compounds (phenolic acids, flavonoids, anthocyanins which are present only in pigmented wheat, alkylresorcinols, and to a lesser extent proanthocyanidins), carotenoids (mainly lutein and zeaxanthin) and tocochromanols (α, β, γ and δ - tocopherols and tocotrienols). This diversity of antioxidants function to protect consumers from radical-induced oxidative damage caused by various free radicals produced endogenously from metabolic processes and exogenously from sunlight and other chemicals and environmental pollutants. They also chelate metal ions which could catalyze oxidation reactions in the physiological system, thereby providing antioxidant protection. However, phenolic compounds might exert pro-oxidant effect when bound to heavy metal ions. This effect could be prevented by the diverse antioxidant system in wheat.

For field applications, commercial chelates—EDTA, DTPA, GLDA, etc.—are commonly supplied as 3550 wt% (1.2-1.7 M) solutions and diluted two times in water. However, the dependence of the reaction rate on the concentration of chelate in solution has never been quantified. Resumen
Epinephrine or UK 14304 (a specific (α2-adrenoceptor agonist) synergizes with phorbol esters (phorbol 12,13-dibutyrate, PdBu) or bioactive diacylglycerols (sn-1,2-dioctanoylglycerol, DiC8) to induce aggregation and ATP-secretion of platelets. The effect on aggregation is more pronounced than on secretion, and it is observed in aspirinized platelet-rich plasma or suspensions of washed platelets containing ADP-scavengers. No prior shape change is found. In the presence of epinephrine, DiCg induces reversible aggregation and PdBu evokes irreversible aggregation that correlates with the effects, o

Resumen
The aggregation of washed human platelets by ADP does not cause the release reaction and is dependent, following ADP binding to its receptor, on exposure of the membrane glycoprotein (GP) IIb-IIIa complex, platelet contact and presence in the external medium of Ca2+ and fibrinogen. EDTA, which chelates Ca2+ can inhibit platelet aggregation by removal of Ca2+ from external medium or by dissociating the GPIIb-IIIa calcium dependent complex. We have studied the effects of prolonged incubation of human platelets with EDTA on the platelet ADP-fibrinogen dependent aggregation. Human platelets were w

Resumen
The presence of iron (iron oxide from carbon steel piping) buildup in Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) circuits and wastewaters is decades old. In, perhaps the last decade, the advent of precoatless filters for condensate blow down has compounded this problem due to the lack of a solid substrate (e.g., powdex resin pre-coat) to help drop the iron out of solution. The presence and buildup of this iron in condensate phase separators (CPS) further confounds the problem when the tank is decanted back to the plant. Iron carryover here is unavoidable without further treatment steps. The form of iron in t
