Resumen
ABSTRACT Introduction: Accelerometry is a very accurate method for determining energy expenditure (EE) in endurance training. However, further studies are needed to prove its accuracy in resistance training. Objective: To compare the EE obtained by accelerometry and indirect calorimetry in three different circuit resistance training circuits. Methods: Six overweight volunteers performed three sets in three resistance training circuits: machine circuit (MC), free-weight circuit (FWC) and resistance + aerobic circuit (RAC). EE was measured by indirect calorimetry using an Oxycon Mobile® and by the accelerometers SenseWear® Armband Pro2 and ActiTrainer®. Results: ActiTrainer® and SenseWear® underestimated EE in all circuits when compared to indirect calorimetry (p<0.05). The difference was greater in the FWC: 44.4% METs and 81.4% Kcal for ActiTrainer® and 32.3% METs and 24.9% Kcal for SenseWear® compared to indirect calorimetry. Conclusion: Both ActiTrainer® and SenseWear® underestimated EE when compared to indirect calorimetry in three different resistance training circuits. Resumen
To our knowledge, the efficacy of combined probiotic supplementation with circuit training has not been evaluated. Thus, we investigated the effects of probiotic supplementation combined with circuit training on isokinetic muscular strength and power and cytokine responses in young males. Forty-eight healthy sedentary young males were recruited and randomised into 4 separate groups: sedentary placebo control, probiotics (P), circuit training with placebo (CT), and circuit training with probiotics (CTP). Participants in the CT and CTP groups performed circuit training 3 times/week with 2 circuits of exercises from weeks 1–8 followed by 3 circuits of exercises from weeks 9–12. Participants in the P and CTP groups consumed multi-strain probiotics containing 3 × 1010 colony-forming units of Lactobacillus acidophilus, L. lactis, L. casei, Bifidobacterium longum, B. bifidum and B. infantis twice daily for 12 weeks. Measurements of body height and weight, blood pressure, resting heart rate, blood samples, and isokinetic muscular strength and power were carried out at pre- and post-tests. Isokinetic knee strength and power in CT and CTP groups were significantly higher (P < 0.05) at post-test. In addition, interleukin (IL)-10 concentration was significantly increased (P < 0.0001) at post-test in P and CT but a trend toward significant increase in CTP (P = 0.09). Nevertheless, there was no significant difference in IL-6. This study suggests that 12 weeks of circuit training alone and the combination of circuit training and probiotic consumption improved muscular performance while circuit training alone and probiotics alone increased IL-10 concentration.

Resumen
The Purpose of the present study was to find out the effects of circuit training and circuit weight training on Muscular strength endurance. To achieve this purpose, thirty men kabaddi players from Alagappa University College of physical education, karaikudi, were randomly selected as subjects. The age of the subjects ranged between 21 to 28 years. The selected subjects were divided into three groups of ten subjects each. The experimental group – 1(n=10 CT) underwent circuit training, the experimental group – 2 (n = 10 CWT) underwent circuit weight training and control group-3 (n= 10, CG) did not participate in any special training programme apart from their regular activities. The data was collected at prior to and after the training programme of nine weeks. Muscular strength endurance was chosen as a criterion variable. The analysis of co variance (ANCOVA) was used to analyze the data. The results of the study showed that the Muscular strength endurance was significantly improved due to the circuit and circuit weight training.

Resumen
This study was undertaken to characterize the oxygen consumption and heart rate responses of subjects during laboratory simulated aerobic dance circuit training sessions. Sixteen female subjects performed six randomly assigned 30-minute aerobic dance circuit training protocols. Oxygen consumption and heart rate responses were monitored in response to changes in three independent variables which were: interval duration, leg involvement and fitness level. Results revealed that the different interval durations generated significantly different oxygen costs. Also, it was found that in relative terms (% of max VO$ sb2$), the low fitness group (max VO$ sb2 $ 45 ml/kg.min). Furthermore, it was found that the involvement of deep knee bends during the resistance training segment of the circuit significantly increased the oxygen cost when the resistance training segments were compared. Finally, the results showed that exercise intensity was overestimated when using percentage of max HR.

Resumen
Thesis (M.A.)--Boston University
In the fast-paced lifestyle of modern-day society, people often feel overwhelmed by their list of things to do. It is no surprise then that a lot of people claim that they have "no time" to exercise. Two short-duration programs-circuit training and high intensity interval training-seem to be the answer to this issue, and this report investigates each program to see if one is more beneficial than the other in regards to population health. Factors taken into consideration for this comparison include cardiovascular responses, metabolic responses, and psychological factors. Research was gathered through PubMed, Web of Knowledge, and interviews with certified physical trainers to reach an evidence-based conclusion on whether circuit training or high intensity interval training was more beneficial. The Published Data section presents relevant data from the scientific literature in The Effects of Circuits & High Intensity Interval Training on the Cardiovascular System, The Effects of Circuits & High Intensity Interval Training on Body Metabolism, and Psychological Changes Associated with Circuits & High Intensity Interval Training, and is presented by first detailing methodological data, followed by the study's findings. The implications of the results, along with any possible extraneous factors, will be evaluated in the Discussion section.

Young, Kaelin C. "The effects of hydraulic resistance circuit training on whole body bone mineral density in postmenopausal women". Thesis, Wichita State University, 2007. http://hdl.handle.net/10057/2051.

Resumen
The aim of the present study was to determine whether a 12 week hydraulic resistance circuit training program, could maintain whole body bone mineral density in postmenopausal women. Participants included ten apparently healthy, postmenopausal women (56.5 + 7.5 years) who were allocated into two groups: exercise (EX) and control (CON). EX subjects participated in hydraulic resistance circuit training three days a week for 30 minutes per day. Exercise stations consisted of nine hydraulic resistance machines that targeted the main muscle groups and nine aerobic stations that consisted of dancing, jogging and cycling. Bone mineral density of the whole body was assessed at baseline and 12 weeks in both groups. No significant differences (P< 0.05) in whole body bone mineral density were found between groups determined by repeated measures ANCOVA. However, a trend (P= 0.054) for the EX group to increase whole body bone mineral density (baseline BMD= 1.08 + .07 g/cm2, 12-week= 1.11 + .07) over 12 weeks existed. These results suggest that hydraulic resistance strength training is a safe form of exercise and may be beneficial for maintaining bone mineral density in postmenopausal women. However, further research with a larger population and longer study duration is warranted.

Resumen
AbstractReverse derivative categories (RDCs) have recently been shown to be a suitable semantic framework for studying machine learning algorithms. Whereas emphasis has been put on training methodologies, less attention has been devoted to particular model classes: the concrete categories whose morphisms represent machine learning models. In this paper we study presentations by generators and equations of classes of RDCs. In particular, we propose polynomial circuits as a suitable machine learning model. We give an axiomatisation for these circuits and prove a functional completeness result. Finally, we discuss the use of polynomial circuits over specific semirings to perform machine learning with discrete values.

Resumen
The article is devoted to actual problem of using modern ICT tools to increase the level of efficiency of the educational process. The current state and relevance of the use of augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) technologies as an appropriate means of improving the educational process are considered. In particular, attention is paid to the potential of the combined capabilities of AR and VR technologies with adaptive learning systems. Insufficient elaboration of cross-use opportunities for achieving of efficiency of the educational process in state-of-the-art research has been identified. Based on analysis of latest publications and experience of using of augmented and virtual reality technologies, as well as the concept of adaptive learning, conceptual model of learning based on the combined capabilities of AR and VR technologies with adaptive learning systems has been designed. The use of VR and AR technologies as a special information environment is justified, which is applied in accordance with the identified dominant type of students' thinking. The prospects of using the proposed model in training process at educational institutions for the implementation and support of new teaching and learning strategies, as well as improving learning outcomes are determined by the example of such courses as “Algorithms and data structures”, “Computer graphics and three-dimensional modeling”, “Circuit Engineering”, “Computer Architecture”.

Resumen
Review question / Objective: This systematic review aimed to synthesize the existing literature reporting the effects of computer-based cognitive training on the executive functions of children with ADHD. Condition being studied: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is the most common neurodevelopmental disorder diagnosed in childhood, characterized by a persistent pattern of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. Today it is recognized that ADHD is associated with an alteration in the volume and level of activation in prefrontal areas related to executive functions. Based on these clinical findings, some authors suggest that ADHD is not a disorder of primary attention origin but instead responds to an alteration in the synaptic circuits of some brain areas, including the prefrontal neocortex, areas involved in cognitive regulation and control, and processes known as executive functions.
