Resumen
AbstractThe cross sections formed by the contact asperities of two rough surfaces at an interference are islandshaped, rather than having the commonly assumed circular contour. These island-shaped contact surface contours show fractal behavior with a profile fractal dimension Ds. The surface fractal dimension for the asperity heights is defined as D and the topothesy is defined as G. In the study of Mandelbrot, the relationship between D and Ds was given as D = Ds + 1 if these two fractal dimensions are obtained before contact deformation. In the present study, D, G, and Ds are considered to be varying with the mean separation (or the interference at the rough surface) between two contact surfaces. The D-Ds relationships for the contacts at the elastic, elastoplastic, and fully plastic deformations are derived and the inceptions of the elastoplastic deformation regime and the fully plastic deformation regime are redefined using the equality of two expressions established in two different ways for the number of contact spots (N). The contact parameters, including the total contact force and the real contact area, were evaluated when the size distribution functions (n) for the three deformation regimes were available. The results indicate that both the D and Ds parameters in these deformation regimes increased with increasing the mean separation (d*). The initial plasticity index before contact deformation (ψ)0 is also a factor of importance to the predictions of the contact load (F*t) and contact area (At*) between the model of variable D and G, non-Gaussian asperity heights and circular contact area and the present model of variable D and G, non-Gaussian asperity heights and fractal contact area.

Resumen
In order to analyze the evolution of normal contact stiffness under loading and unloading, an accurate elastic-plastic contact finite element model between rigid plane and fractal surface is established by introducing the equivalent metal matrix deformation in terms of the modified Weierstrass-Mandelbrot function. The effects of the fractal dimension, scale parameter, material properties on the normal contact stiffness were discussed. A method for evaluating the normal contact stiffness was proposed to analyze the evolution of the normal contact stiffness. Numerical simulation shows that there is a positive power function relationship between the normal contact stiffness and the load of fractal surface. Under the same load, at the fractal dimensions (D) of 2.4-2.7 and scale parameters (G) of 1.36×10-13-1.36×10-10 m, the loading normal contact stiffness increases with the increasing of fractal dimension and tangent modulus, but decreases with the increasing of scale parameter. The unloading normal contact stiffness increases with the material strengthening, and the variation amplitude is positively correlated with the fractal dimension, and negatively correlated with the scale parameters and tangent modulus.

Resumen
In the fabrication of interdigitated back contact (IBC) solar cells, it is very important to choose the right size of contact to achieve the maximum efficiency. Line contacts and point contacts are the two possibilities, which are being chosen for IBC structure. It is expected that the point contacts would give better results because of the reduced recombination rate. In this work, we are simulating the effect of contact size on the performance of IBC solar cells. Simulations were done in three dimension using Quokka, which numerically solves the charge carrier transport. Our simulation results show that around 10% of contact ratio is able to achieve optimum cell efficiency.

Resumen
The contact between aggregates is an important feature of asphalt mixture skeleton. By comparing skeleton-dense and suspended-dense structure asphalt mixture test results, this paper studied the distribution characteristics of coarse aggregate contacts by using two-dimension digital image processing technique. The results indicate that skeleton-dense asphalt mixture has more homogeneous distribution of contact points, and a relatively stable skeleton structure than suspended-dense mixture. In two-dimension image, homogeneous distribution of contact points and little unrestrained coarse aggregates are two evident characteristics of asphalt mixture with good rutting resistance. The rutting resistance of asphalt mixture has no correlation with contact points, but is related to the spatial distribution of the contact points.

Abstract We introduce the Kodaira dimension of contact 3-manifolds and establish some basic properties. Contact 3-manifolds with distinct Kodaira dimensions behave differently when it comes to the geography of various kinds of symplectic fillings. On the other hand, we also prove that, given any contact 3-manifold, there is a lower bound of $2\chi +3\sigma $ for all of its minimal symplectic fillings. This is motivated by Stipsicz’s result in [38] for Stein fillings. Finally, we discuss various aspects of exact self-cobordisms of fillable contact 3-manifolds.

This dissertation contains two research directions. In the first direction, we deduce explicit expressions of the subelliptic heat kernels on three sub-Riemannian model spaces: the Cauchy-Riemann sphere, the anti-de Sitter space and the Quaternionic sphere. From these explicit subelliptic heat kernels we then derive several by products: the Green function of the conformal sub-Laplacian, the small-time estimates of the subel- liptic heat kernels, and the sub-Riemannian distance. The key point is to work in cylindrical coordinates that reflect the symmetries coming from the Hopf fibration of these model spaces. In the second direction we study the extension of the Baudoin-Garofalo type curvature dimension inequality from the sub-Riemannian transversal symmetric setting to any contact manifold. In particular, the Sasakian condition is no longer assumed which leads to the appearance of new strongly non-linear term in the curvature dimension inequality. This new curvature dimension condition is then used to study several interesting aspects in geometry and analysis: The stochastic completeness of the heat semigroup, geometric conditions ensuring the compactness of the underlying manifold (Bonnet-Myers type results), gradient bounds for the heat semigroup, and spectral gap estimates for the sub-Laplacian.

This work deals with computational contact mechanics between deformable solids. The aim of this work is to improve the performance, the reliability and the robustness of the algorithms and numerical models set in Code_Aster which is finite element code developped by Électricité De France (EDF) for its engineering needs. The proposed algorithms are used to solve high dimensional industrial problems in order to optimize the computational running times. Several solutions techniques are available in the field of computational contact mechanics but they must take into account the difficulties coming from non-smooth aspects due to Signorini-Coulomb laws coupled to large deformations of bodies and material non linearities. Firstly the augmented Lagrangian formulation so-called « stabilized Lagrangian » is introduced. Successively, the mathematical properties of the discrete operators are highlighted and furthermore a novel energetic function is presented. Secondly the kinematical condition with regard to the normal unknowns are reinforced through unconstrained optimization techniques which result to a novel formulation which is so-called « non standard augmented Lagrangian formulation ». Three types of strategies are implemented in the code. The generalized Newton method is developped : it is a method in which all the non linearities are solved in one loop of iterations. The partial Newton method is an hybrid technique between the generalized Newton one and a fixed point method

The cross sections formed by the contact asperities of two rough surfaces at an interference are island-shaped, rather than having the commonly assumed circular contour. These island-shaped contact surface contours show fractal behavior with a profile fractal dimension Ds. The surface fractal dimension for the asperity heights is defined as D and the topothesy is defined as G. In the study of Mandelbrot, the relationship between D and Ds was given as D = Ds+1 if these two fractal dimensions are obtained before contact deformation.

Resumen
A thermal contact sensor embedded in a magnetic-head slider was developed. The sensor has been used for contact detection between a head slider and a disk in hard disk drives, and, our previous research has shown that the sensor could successfully detect disk defects including asperities and pits. In this work, the sensor dimension effect and characterization of defect size was studied in order to better understanding of defect size. The results showed that the defect size can be clarified by considering sensor size and scan pitch.

Resumen
The problem of content management of multimedia data types (e.g., image, video, graphics) is becoming increasingly important with the development of advanced multimedia applications. Traditional database management systems are inadequate for the handling of such data types. They require new techniques for query formulation, retrieval, evaluation, and navigation. In this paper we develop a knowledge-based framework for modeling and retrieving image data by content. To represent the various aspects of an image object's characteristics, we propose a model which consists of three layers: (1) Feature and Content Layer, intended to contain image visual features such as contours, shapes, etc.; (2) Object Layer, which provides the (conceptual) content dimension of images; and (3) Schema Layer, which contains the structured abstractions of images, i.e., a general schema about the classes of objects represented in the object layer. We propose two abstract languages on the basis of description logics: one for describing knowledge of the object and schema layers, and the other, more expressive, for making queries. Queries can refer to the form dimension (i.e., information of the Feature and Content Layer) or to the content dimension (i.e., information of the Object Layer). These languages employ a variable free notation, and they are well suited for the design, verification and complexity analysis of algorithms. As the amount of information contained in the previous layers may be huge and operations performed at the Feature and Content Layer are time-consuming, resorting to the use of materialized views to process and optimize queries may be extremely useful. For that, we propose a formal framework for testing containment of a query in a view expressed in our query language. The algorithm we propose is sound and complete and relatively efficient.

Resumen
To represent and reason about contextualized knowledge often two-dimensional Description Logics (DLs) are employed, where one DL is used to describe contexts (or possible worlds) and the other DL is used to describe the objects, i.e. the relational structure of the specific contexts. Previous approaches for DLs of context that combined pairs of DLs resulted in undecidability in those cases where so-called rigid roles are admitted, i.e. if parts of the relational structure are the same in all contexts. In this paper, we present a novel combination of pairs of DLs and show that reasoning stays decidable even in the presence of rigid roles. We give complexity results for various combinations of DLs involving ALC, SHOQ, and EL.

Resumen
The article analyzes the peculiarities of the media content shaping and transformation in the convergent dimension of cross-media, taking into account the possibilities of augmented reality. With the help of the principles of objectivity, complexity and reliability in scientific research, a number of general scientific and special methods are used: method of analysis, synthesis, generalization, method of monitoring, observation, problem-thematic, typological and discursive methods. According to the form of information presentation, such types of media content as visual, audio, verbal and combined are defined and characterized. The most important in journalism is verbal content, it is the one that carries the main information load. The dynamic development of converged media leads to the dominance of image and video content; the likelihood of increasing the secondary content of the text increases. Given the market situation, the effective information product is a combined content that combines text with images, spreadsheets with video, animation with infographics, etc. Increasing number of new media are using applications and website platforms to interact with recipients. To proceed, the peculiarities of the new content of new media with the involvement of augmented reality are determined. Examples of successful interactive communication between recipients, the leading news agencies and commercial structures are provided. The conditions for effective use of VR / AR-technologies in the media content of new media, the involvement of viewers in changing stories with augmented reality are determined. The so-called immersive effect with the use of VR / AR-technologies involves complete immersion, immersion of the interested audience in the essence of the event being relayed. This interaction can be achieved through different types of VR video interactivity. One of the most important results of using VR content is the spatio-temporal and emotional immersion of viewers in the plot. The recipient turns from an external observer into an internal one; but his constant participation requires that the user preferences are taken into account. Factors such as satisfaction, positive reinforcement, empathy, and value influence the choice of VR / AR content by viewers.

Resumen
A central and implicit issue that shapes the present political and institutional consensus surrounding child labour is the notion of harm. Although efforts to address children’s work rest firmly on assumptions about what is harmful, no coherent theory of harm exists. In this paper, we critically explore ‘harm’ in the context of children’s work and call for a more situated and nuanced approach, incorporating ‘subjective’ and ‘objective’ dimensions. Such an approach has important implications for future research and policy action.
