Resumen
We endeavor through this research paper to read the feminist movements, in particular countries in order to understand its dynamics and at the same time to foresee its future directions. To achieve this, as an adequate tool, Juri Lotman’s Culture and Explosion (2009) provides us a model for reading the different dynamics within feminism, as a cultural text, as well as its interconnection to other sign systems within the same semiotic sphere. Thus we can understand the interconnection of feminism with politics and society, and with its plurality of discourses makes it in constant change and exposed to explosions which would change its course in the future. These explosions are displayed through the political acts which were passed in favour of the women as a result of the feminist dynamics. Besides, the feminist movement has the capacity to integrate into other movements and also can be transformed into other movements, and thus, new realities and discourses are created. Within this arena, among these realities is the anti-feminist pornography as opposed to pro-sex feminists. From our stand point, pornography, and especially that in the digital age, is the dark side of the feminist movement. Semiotically, in Lotman’s (2009) model, pornography is abnormal, sick or non-existent because it is different from the norm. In the light of this, we are able to expose different views about the harms of pornography both on women and even men.

Resumen
Pornography is notoriously hard to define, yet like the Supreme Court all of us think we know it when we see it. Even if we cannot define pornography, we can say if something is or is not pornographic. How do we do this? More precisely, what is it that we think we know, when we think that something is or is not pornographic? We make these experiential determinations by reference to what I call our “traditional conception” of pornography. This conception is not based on definitions of pornography, for we have none. Rather, the traditional conception consists of broadly stated and widely believed inductive generalizations, which are in turn based on a multitude of common and shared experiences with pornographic materials. Recently—in the last ten years or so—that traditional conception of pornography has begun to change. But it is changing slowly. It still dominates our sense of what is and is not pornographic and our arguments about the value of pornography.

Abstract: Feminist theory approached pornographyas a cultural phenomenon from the gender perspective, building a specific critical discourse that, far from beinguniform, has more the nature of a debate. This debate ispart of a bigger one that some authors have described asthe pleasure - danger tension that underlies femininesexuality. Its most evident origins are in the United Statesof the seventies and eighties, when pornography becamea mass phenomenon and the first reactions it faced wereexplicitly abolitionist. At that time an important fractionof the American feminist movement rose againstpornography, which it defined as violence againstwomen. At the same time, as a response to the abolitionistcampaign of the «anti-pornographers», anothersubstantial feminist sector stressed the risks of suchposture, criticizing the supposed link between pornographyand violence. Resumen
Feminist attitudes toward legislative control of pornography were investigated. A sample of 119 recipients of the National Organization of Women Newsletter in a Southern California community responded to a questionnaire assessing variables expected to be related to pornography control: demographic variables, and attitudes toward pornography, censorship, free speech, and the harm of pornography. Values were related to attitude toward pornography control, especially the prioritizing of responsibility versus freedom. Attitudes toward pornography were also significant predictors; however, beliefs about importance of protecting free speech and the harm of pornography were the strongest predictors, with the protection of free speech making the largest contribution. In understanding “mainstream” feminists' attitudes toward pornography control, the most important variables appear to be those that assess the consequences of pornography.

Resumen
By taking as a starting point “The Clit List,” a pornographic database that includes porn material addressed to individuals who have experienced sexual harassment(s) and/or assault(s), this essay brings forward the following question: can pornography take the form of a healing process for individuals with a history of sexual violence? In order to provide an answer, alternative uses and aspects of pornography will be explored, with a particular focus on queer, feminist, and ethical porn. Following the contemporary history of pornography, I engage with both Queer Theory by discussing queer feminist approaches to porn, but also Affect Theory by sharing queer feminist approaches to trauma and the potential healing that an (erotic) film can induce in the spectator. More than simply seeking for alternative aspects of porn, this essay accounts for the (re)introduction of pornography as a productive media with a sexual healing possibility.

“Digital nomad” Shu Lea Cheang and friend and critic Alexandra Juhasz consider the reasons for and implications of the censorship of Cheang’s 2017 film FLUIDØ, particularly as it connects to their shared concerns in AIDS activism, feminism, pornography, and queer media. They consider changing norms, politics, and film practices in relation to technology and the body. They debate how we might know, and what we might need, from feminist-queer pornography given feminist-queer engagements with our bodies and ever more common cyborgian existences. Their informal chat opens a window onto the interconnections and adaptations that live between friends, sex, technology, illness, feminism, and representation.

Resumen
How should feminist theorists respond when women who claim to be feminists make “choices” that seemingly prop up patriarchy, like posing for Playboy, eroticizing male dominance, or advocating wifely submission? This article argues that the conflict between the quest for gender equality and the desire for sexual pleasure has long been a challenge for feminism. In fact, the second-wave of the American feminist movement split over issues related to sexuality. Feminists found themselves on opposite sides of a series of contentious debates about issues such as pornography, sex work, and heterosexuality, with one side seeing evidence of gender oppression and the other opportunities for sexual pleasure and empowerment. Since the mid-1990s, however, a third wave of feminism has developed that seeks to reunite the ideals of gender equality and sexual freedom. Inclusive, pluralistic, and non-judgmental, third-wave feminism respects the right of women to decide for themselves how to negotiate the often contradictory desires for both gender equality and sexual pleasure. While this approach is sometimes caricatured as uncritically endorsing whatever a woman chooses to do as feminist, this essay argues that third-wave feminism actually exhibits not a thoughtless endorsement of “choice,” but rather a deep respect for pluralism and self-determination.

Resumen
Penelope Skinner's drama The Village Bike deals with issues ranging from pregnancy to sexuality, pornography and sexual exploration. In this article I focus on the way these issues are presented and explain why pornography and sexual exploration belong to the postfeminist ideology. Namely, the author uncritically deals with these issues, objectifies a woman's body and favours gender constructs. Contemporary British drama by women playwrights is not marked by its engagement with feminism even though it might declare itself as pro-feminist or feminist. Penelope Skinner is one of the contemporary playwrights. I try to present that even though her drama seems to appear provocative at first sight this is not really the case. The provocation does not offer a critical insight and distance. I argue that this drama is postfeminist because it mainstreams pornography and presents a peculiar view on the part of sexual liberation, which is very limited.

Resumen
This dissertation attempts to make advances in two debates in political theory: the first debate is about the nature of dignity and its demands and the second debate is about how feminists should address key issues of concern to them that involve sexuality. I show that the widespread use of the term "dignity" is accompanied by several objections regarding its nature and demands. Objections to dignity highlight its context-dependent, subjective, empty, and indeterminate nature. I reply to these objections and argue that dignity is a useful concept. My proposal is that in order to give dignity a more determinate nature we should focus on what dignity demands. More specifically, I suggest that dignity demands expressive affirmation, or at least the absence of expressive disaffirmation. By expressive affirmation I mean acts or expressions, verbal or non-verbal, which affirm the equal value of human beings. Bearing this understanding of dignity in mind I consider the second debate addressed in the dissertation regarding how feminists should respond to certain issues of central concern to them. These issues are rape, prostitution, arid pornography. I argue that what is wrong with rape and what might be wrong with some kinds of prostitution and pornography can be better understood in light of the idea that dignity demands expressive affirmation. The strategy I follow in order to support this claim relies significantly on my discussion of rape. I use the case of rape as a basis for insights about the status of prostitution and pornography because rape is a case in which our moral convictions are most certain. I argue that rape helps us to see how the demand for expressive affirmation is a demand to respect a person's sexual integrity. This provides a point of departure for justifying further conclusions about some instances of prostitution and · pornography where our convictions about the demands of dignity are initially less certain. In particular, I argue that · prostitution and some forms of pornography are morally problematic and may require legal regulation even under conditions of background equality.

There is a current wave of interest in pornography as a vehicle for queer, feminist and lesbian activism. Examples include Dirty Diaries: Twelve Shorts of Feminist Porn (Engberg, Sweden, 2009), the Pornfilmfestival Berlin (2006-) and the members-only Club LASH in Stockholm (1995-). Based on ethnographic fieldwork designed around these cases, the purpose of the thesis is to account for, historicize and understand this transnational film culture and its politics and ethics. The fieldwork consists of interviews, questionnaires and participant observation, including participation as one of the filmmakers in Dirty Diaries. The thesis studies queer, feminist and lesbian pornography as an interpretive community. Meanings produced in this interpretive community are discussed as involving embodied spectatorial processes, different practices of participation in the film culture and their location in specific situations and contexts of production, distribution and reception. The thesis highlights a collective political fantasy about a safe space for sexual empowerment as the defining feature of this interpretive community. The figure of safe space is central in the fieldwork material, as well as throughout the film culture’s political and aesthetic legacies, which include second wave feminist insistence on sexual consciousness-raising, as well as the heated debates referred to as the Sex Wars. The political and aesthetic heterogeneity of the film culture is discussed in terms of a tension between affirmation and critique (de Lauretis, 1985). It is argued that the film culture functions both as an intimate public (Berlant, 2008) and as a counter public (Warner, 2002). Analyzing research subjects’ accounts in terms of embodied spectatorship (Sobchack, 2004, Williams, 2008), the thesis examines how queer, feminist and lesbian pornography shapes the embodied subjectivities of participants in this interpretive community and potentially forms part of processes of sexual empowerment.

Resumen
This thesis explores feminist anti-pornography activism in the UK in the first decade of the twenty-first century, in the context of what has been termed the 'mainstreaming‘ of pornography. It investigates how and why feminist anti-porn activism is re-emerging in this particular historical moment, examining the ways in which groups are organised, and how feminist campaigns around pornography are developed, executed and received. It provides an in-depth analysis and theorisation of the ideological stance, ethos, tactical repertoires and impact of campaign groups, along with a detailed consideration of the motivations, perspectives and experiences of activists. The thesis locates feminist anti-pornography groups and activists in various contexts: the 'mainstreaming' of pornography (or 'pornification'); feminist debates around pornography and the sex industry; second and third wave feminist activism; debates around ‗post-feminism‘ and the resurgence of grassroots feminist activism in the UK. This contextualisation enables me to assess the significance of current feminist anti-pornography activism in the light of social, political and cultural trends, and with regard to other feminist priorities and agendas. The thesis draws on qualitative research data gathered from feminist ethnographic studies of two London-based groups, along with twenty-four in-depth, semi-structured interviews conducted with activists across the UK. Utilising a theoretical framework drawing on social movement literature and feminist theory, I analyse and interpret my research findings in order to construct an argument regarding the impact of feminist anti-pornography activism and its significance in relation to contemporary feminism. Emphasising continuities between second wave radical feminist analyses of pornography and current activist perspectives, I argue that their foregrounding of issues of violence against women, objectification and gender inequality, along with their critical engagement with concepts such as 'choice', 'agency' and 'empowerment', poses a challenge to postfeminist and liberal perspectives on pornography.

Bruckert, Chris. "Woman as subject/object: A critique of feminist writings on prostitution and pornography". Thesis, University of Ottawa (Canada), 1991. http://hdl.handle.net/10393/7684.

Texto completo
Resumen
The construction of woman as object/other in the dominant discourse is an accepted problematic in feminist scholarship. This is understood to be a function of the androcentric nature of the academic, linguistic and social spheres that mediate our understanding/experience. In this context, reality is dichotomized, and woman is the object/other against which man identifies himself as subject. This consciousness poses a fundamental epistemological challenge to feminist scholars: how to construct woman as the subject of discourse and overcome woman's deeply rooted social definition and consciousness of object/other. The positions and understandings of contemporary feminist theory on how to actualize this understanding in praxis are reviewed and a typology considered that assesses feminist thought in relation the conceptualization of woman and strategies to construct woman as the subject in discourse. A sample of feminist writings on prostitution and pornography are analyzed to determine if the ideological and epistemological assumptions of the dominant discourse, rejected in feminist theory, are reproduced in substantive applications of feminism. It is argued that in much of the feminist prostitution and pornography literature reviewed, skin and sex trade workers are denied legitimacy and voice; they are the deconstructed subject who is symbol/victim/object. Further there is a failure to transcend the conceptual boundaries of androcentric thought and therefore the dominant constructs are implicitly legitimated. It is concluded that some of the current applications of feminist theory contravenes the established political/personal mandate of feminism to redefine woman as the subject of discourse. It is suggested that a feminist framework is required that is conscious of itself, its own ideology, socially imposed parameters and its relation to the dominant discourse against which it defines itself.

Pornography has centralized much of the public debate about sexual policies in the United States between the 1970s and 1980s. Widely deployed by the feminist movement, the anti-pornography policies of the time led to the emergence of a natural counter-proposal: the so called post-pornography, or, as is more often known, the feminist pornography. This dissertation is about the rise of this movement as well as on its project: I will analyze, therefore, the socio-political context that enabled the rise of the post-porn, the implications and, theoretical and ideological associations of it, the changes that occurred in its ideation since its appearance until the present day, and finally the relationship between this movement and the social theories discussed perpetrated by the Social Sciences.

Here, I take up Shine Louise Houston’s feature length film, The Wild Search, as a unique case study for addressing the relationship between debates of identity politics and queer activist practice.
