Resumen
Burkholderia sensu lato is a large and complex group, containing pathogenic, phytopathogenic, symbiotic and non-symbiotic strains from a very wide range of environmental (soil, water, plants, fungi) and clinical (animal, human) habitats. Its taxonomy has been evaluated several times through the analysis of 16S rRNA sequences, concantenated 4–7 housekeeping gene sequences, and lately by genome sequences. Currently, the division of this group into Burkholderia, Caballeronia, Paraburkholderia, and Robbsia is strongly supported by genome analysis. These new genera broadly correspond to the various habitats/lifestyles of Burkholderia s.l., e.g., all the plant beneficial and environmental (PBE) strains are included in Paraburkholderia (which also includes all the N2-fixing legume symbionts) and Caballeronia, while most of the human and animal pathogens are retained in Burkholderia sensu stricto. However, none of these genera can accommodate two important groups of species. One of these includes the closely related Paraburkholderia rhizoxinica and Paraburkholderia endofungorum, which are both symbionts of the fungal phytopathogen Rhizopus microsporus. The second group comprises the Mimosa-nodulating bacterium Paraburkholderia symbiotica, the phytopathogen Paraburkholderia caryophylli, and the soil bacteria Burkholderia dabaoshanensis and Paraburkholderia soli. In order to clarify their positions within Burkholderia sensu lato, a phylogenomic approach based on a maximum likelihood analysis of conserved genes from more than 100 Burkholderia sensu lato species was carried out. Additionally, the average nucleotide identity (ANI) and amino acid identity (AAI) were calculated. The data strongly supported the existence of two distinct and unique clades, which in fact sustain the description of two novel genera Mycetohabitans gen. nov. and Trinickia gen. nov. The newly proposed combinations are Mycetohabitans endofungorum comb. nov., Mycetohabitansrhizoxinica comb. nov., Trinickia caryophylli comb. nov., Trinickiadabaoshanensis comb. nov., Trinickia soli comb. nov., and Trinickiasymbiotica comb. nov. Given that the division between the genera that comprise Burkholderia s.l. in terms of their lifestyles is often complex, differential characteristics of the genomes of these new combinations were investigated. In addition, two important lifestyle-determining traits—diazotrophy and/or symbiotic nodulation, and pathogenesis—were analyzed in depth i.e., the phylogenetic positions of nitrogen fixation and nodulation genes in Trinickia via-à-vis other Burkholderiaceae were determined, and the possibility of pathogenesis in Mycetohabitans and Trinickia was tested by performing infection experiments on plants and the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans. It is concluded that (1) T. symbiotica nif and nod genes fit within the wider Mimosa-nodulating Burkholderiaceae but appear in separate clades and that T. caryophyllinif genes are basal to the free-living Burkholderia s.l. strains, while with regard to pathogenesis (2) none of the Mycetohabitans and Trinickia strains tested are likely to be pathogenic, except for the known phytopathogen T. caryophylli.

Resumen
Cathode material Li[Ni1/3Co1/3Mn1/3]O2 for lithium-ion batteries with layered hexagonal structure was successfully synthesized in sol-gel way. The influences of calcination temperature (from 700° to 1000°C) on the structure and electrochemical behaviors of Li[Ni1/3Co1/3Mn1/3]O2 were extensively investigated. The results of XRD show that all samples are isostructural with α-NaFeO2 with a space group R-3m. XPS analysis shows that the oxidation states of Co and Mn were Co3+ and Mn4+ respectively, while Ni exists as Ni2+ and Ni3+. The charge-discharge experiments show that the sample calcined at 850°C delivers 194.8mAh/g in the first cycle at C/5 rate in 2.5-4.3V potential range.

In the present investigation structural, electric, magnetic, and frequency dependent dielectric properties of Ni1-xCdxFe2O4 ferrite nanoparticles (NPs) (where x=0.2, 0.4, 0.6, and 0.8) prepared by sol-gel autocombustion method were studied. The crystallite size (t) (46.89~58.40 nm) was estimated from X-ray diffraction data with the postconfirmation of single phase spinel structure. Spherical shaped, fused grain nature with intergranular diffusion in Ni1-xCdxFe2O4 NPs was observed in scanning electron micrographs. The value of loss tangent (tan⁡δ) decreases exponentially with an increasing frequency indicating normal Maxwell-Wagner type dielectric dispersion due to interfacial polarization. Decreasing values of Curie temperature (TC) from 860°C to 566°C with increasing Cd2+ content x in Ni1-xCdxFe2O4 NPs were determined from AC-Susceptibility. Activation energy ΔE ranges within 0.03~0.15 eV. Decreasing magnetic saturation Ms, coercivity Hc, and magneton number nB values show the effect on nonmagnetic Cd2+ ions over magnetic Ni2+ and Fe ions.

Resumen
This study attempted to enhance the efficacy of peripheral nerve regeneration using our previously developed gelatin-tricalcium phosphate (GTG) conduits by incorporating them with nerve growth factors and cultured Schwann cells. The nerve growth factors were covalently immobilized onto the GTG conduits (GEN) using carbodiimide. Schwann cells were harvested from neonatal Lewis rats, cultured for seven days and injected into the GEN conduits. The experiment was performed in three groups: GTG conduits, GEN conduits and GEN conduits with Schwann cells injected (GEN+Sc). The effects of different conduits (GTG, GEN and GEN with Schwann cells) on the peripheral nerve regeneration were evaluated in rat sciatic nerve repair model. 24 weeks after implantation of conduits, degradation of the conduits in all groups was illustrated by the fragmentation of the conduits. All conduits were well tolerated by the host tissue. Under microscopic evaluations, regenerated nerve tissue with myelinated and unmyelinated axons presented in all groups. Histomorphometrically, the total nerve area of GEN+Sc group was significantly higher than GTG group. Conversely, the autotomy score evaluated 12 weeks after nerve repair showed better results for GTG group. Besides, GEN+Sc group had the highest average recovery index of compound muscle action potential, but the difference among each group did not reach statistical significance. Although the electrophysiological recovery of nerve was not significantly improved with GEN+Sc conduit, nerve repair using tissue engineered conduits still provided better histological results. However, it should be noticed that autotomy may be the price paid for enhanced peripheral nerve.

Resumen
The present study investigates the structural and functional roles of the metalloclusters present within the MoFe protein of nitrogenase from Azotobacter vinelandii. A gene replacement strategy was developed for oligonucleotide-directed mutagenesis of these proteins and the resulting biological and biochemical effects of these changes were examined. Identification of structurally important regions in the MoFe protein subunits and assignment of specific amino acid residues as potential metal cluster ligands were based upon several criteria: i. metallocluster extrusion requirements; spectroscopic properties of the MoFe protein; interspecies and intersubunit comparisons; iv. comparison of the MoFe protein subunit sequences to iron-molybdenum cofactor biosynthetic gene products. This mutagenesis strategy has permitted the construction of thirty-three mutant strains having specific amino acid substitutions within the MoFe protein subunits. Based on the diazotrophic growth characteristics and substrate reduction capabilities of these mutant strains, a model is presented in which potential metallocluster binding sites within the MoFe protein subunits are defined. In addition to analysis of the MoFe protein subunits, this site-directed mutagenesis and gene replacement strategy can be used to place specific mutations into any gene product encoded within the A. vinelandii nif gene cluster. Finally, nucleotide sequence analysis of the regions flanking the nifEN genes revealed the presence of three nif genes (nifT, nifY, and nifX) and four open reading frames (ORF1, ORF2, ORF3, and ORF4). Two of these genes, nifX and ORF3, were shown to be under nif control and synthesis of their products elevated in response to a demand for fixed nitrogen. Mutant strains with deletions in ORF3 appeared to accumulate an excess amount of MoFe protein when compared to wild type. The ORF3 gene product has been overproduced in E. coli. This provides an important step toward characterizing the protein and elucidating the molecular basis for its control of nifDK gene expression.

Resumen
Tyrimo tikslas – apžvelgti vienos iš pagrindinių šiltnamio efektą sukeliančių – dujų anglies dioksido (CO2) – pasaulinį ciklą bei svarbą. CO2 stipriai veikia klimatą, tačiau yra ir nepakeičiamas augalų fotosintezės proceso elementas. Sukurtos neigiamos išlakų technologijas (NIT), kurių viena yra susijusi su vandens pakrančių mėlynosios anglies sinteze. Ši NIT išsiskiria iš kitų technologijų efektyvumu, nes suriša dvigubai daugiau anglies nei tokio pat ploto miškas. Tačiau šis natūralus anglies akumuliatorius nyksta dėl klimato kaitos ir intensyvių žemės naudojimo pokyčių. Nykimo procesui kontroliuoti taikomi nuotolinių tyrimų metodai. Straipsnyje pateiktas mėlynosios anglies vertinimo nuotoliniu tyrimų metodu pavyzdys: naudojami duomenų tipai ir modeliavimo aprašymas „InVEST“ programa.

Resumen
Straipsnyje nagrinėjamas NDVI indekso taikymas komunalinių atliekų sąvartynų priežiūros kontekste. Nagri-nėjamas konkretus uždarytas Kariotiškių sąvartynas, esantis Trakų rajone, Lietuvoje. Aprašoma galimybė naudojant bepi-ločių orlaivių sistemas gauti NIR duomenis, iš jų suskaičiuoti NDVI indeksą kiekvienam pikseliui bei atrinkti vietas, ku-riose augmenijos gyvybingumas galimai prastas dėl metano išsiskyrimo. Šis metodas neinvazinis, nuotolinis, ekonomiškas ir greitas. Siūlomas metodas yra efektyvesnis už klasikinį, kai paviršių tiria žmogus pėsčiomis.

Abstract In this paper, we evaluate a novel, position-sensitive, singlephoton detector with enhanced Near InfraRed (NIR) sensitivity [1-3] for taking 2D Time Resolved Emission (TRE), also known as Picosecond Imaging for Circuit Analysis (PICA), in future low voltage SOI technologies. In particular, we will investigate and quantify the sensitivity of two generations (Gen. I and Gen. II) of PICA cameras by Hamamatsu Photonics as a function of the power supply voltage on an IBM 45 nm SOI test chip. Additionally, we will compare the results to the performance obtained with an InGaAs Single Photon Avalanche Diode (SPAD) from DCG Systems [4]. Finally we will show a case study and an advanced analysis and localization technique that takes advantage of the 2D capability of the camera.

Resumen
El estudio examina el desempeño de la producción ganadera en Bolivia y Colombia. Se trata de dos ganaderías con diferente trayectoria, madurez tecnológica, y desempeño productivo, y que tienen en común la existencia de “frontera agrícola”, es decir, cambios de uso del suelo que permiten incorporar tierras de pastoreo a la ganadería, a partir de bosques. En el caso de Bolivia, el estudio se limitó a la región oriental, compuesta por los departamentos de Beni y Santa Cruz, que concentra la mayor parte del inventario ganadero del país. Beni, el departamento tradicionalmente ganadero, muestra estancamiento en el período, en lo que respecta al inventario ganadero y la productividad. No han existido inversiones ni cambio técnico importantes en materia de alimentación y manejo del ganado. En Santa Cruz se ha producido un incremento importante de la producción en la primera mitad del período, con aumentos de productividad basados en el cambio técnico. Este cambio técnico se asocia a la implantación de pasturas, a partir de cambios en el uso del suelo. El crecimiento observado en Santa Cruz, en la primera mitad del período (hasta 2012) se detiene a partir de ese año, y la productividad de los factores decrece, dando como resultado un aumento de productividad casi nulo en el total del período analizado. El cambio técnico operado, basado en un modelo de cambio de uso del suelo con siembra de pastos, en competencia por la tierra con soja y otros cultivos, mostró su potencial de generar crecimiento, pero no fue capaz de sostenerlo. La ganadería colombiana muestra un importante incremento de producción en el período analizado. Puesto que los factores de producción (básicamente tierra e inventario ganadero), se incrementan en menor proporción, se verifica un considerable incremento en la productividad de los factores. Existe heterogeneidad en el desempeño entre rubros y regiones. La ganadería de leche es muy importante en Colombia, y predomina en regiones de trópico alto, relativamente maduras en tecnología. Al analizar la evolución de la productividad de los factores, sin embargo, la tasa de crecimiento es mayor en las regiones en que predomina la ganadería de carne. Incluso se verifica cierta sustitución entre rubros, con avance de la producción de carne en todas las regiones. El crecimiento se asocia a mejoras en nutrición del ganado, por siembra de pastos, y en menor medida suministro de suplementos. El diferente comportamiento de los rubros se refleja en su diferente capacidad de competir ante la producción importada, en la medida que la protección se reduce en el marco de los acuerdos comerciales suscritos por el país. La producción ganadera pastoril tiene a su vez implicancias ambientales Los análisis realizados en este estudio, muestran que una variable determinante de la intensidad de emisiones es la productividad de los factores. Debido a esto, la ganadería colombiana presenta menores intensidades de emisión, y con reducción a tasas mayores que las del oriente boliviano. Otro aspecto decisivo en el balance de GEI está dado por los cambios en uso del suelo asociados a la ganadería. Si la producción ganadera que reemplaza bosques no lo hace con alta productividad, el balance resultante afectará en mayor medida el desempeño ambiental de la ganadería de los países.
