Resumen
Risk factors are generally shared between men and women with the major differences being hormonal. Nine modifiable risk factors account for over 90% of the risk of a coronary event in men and women – smoking, hypertension, hyperlipidaemia, diabetes, abdominal obesity, lack of exercise, alcohol excess, reduced intake of fruit and vegetables, and psychosocial issues. Approximately half the decline in deaths from coronary heart disease (CHD), between 1980 and 2000, can be attributed to a reduction in the major risk factors and the other half to the use of evidence-based management. Background: Gender differences in the clinical presentation, treatment and outcomes of myocardial infarction (MI) have been demonstrated. However, few studies have examined gender differences in patients' perceptions of involvement in MI care, and whether differing levels of involvement might be associated with gender differences in treatment and outcome. Aim: To examine possible gender differences in MI patients' perceptions of their involvement during hospitalization. Methods: Questionnaire study conducted in 2005–2006 among MI patients under the age of 75 at eleven hospitals. Patient rating

The aim of the study is to identify factors affecting adherence to treatment in men and women with myocardial infarction (MI).Material and methods. The study included 150 patients diagnosed with MI (47 women and 103 men). Treatment readiness was assessed according to the S.V. Davydov method and with the calculation of the integral indicator of adherence to treatment (IIAT).Results. During 6-month follow-up, men and women with MI were comparable in mortality rates, however, men were more frequently hospitalized for cardiovascular complications. Resumen
This essay takes a closer look at gender in connection to school and English as a second language. Through the works of a number of authors, the subject of gender is explained and there are explanations to how everyone takes part in the process of creating gender even as children. One section of the essay is about how teachers together with their students and colleagues can work with issues related to gender to create a more equal classroom, in order for everyone to have the same opportunities for a good future. The essay also includes a discussion of the results of a small-scale questionnaire

Thesis (S.B.)--Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering, June 1999.
A study was conducted in order to identify the gender differences in learning. Case studies were prepared on nine undergraduate students who were enrolled in Design and Manufacturing I. Through informal meetings with the students and their professors, information was collected on the learning styles of the students. The factors that affect these different learning styles were then evaluated. The conclusions drawn are specific to the students studied, but the recommendations made can be applied

The purpose of this study was to assess whether boys and girls differed in their type and level of aggression and their level of remorse following an aggressive act. Participants were 36 aggressive boys and 36 nonaggressive boys, and 36 aggressive and 36 nonaggressive girls. The Peer Nomination Inventory (Walder, Abelson, Eron, Banta, & Laulicht, 1961) was used to identify aggressive and nonaggressive children. This thesis focuses on consideration of gender differences in the academic profession. Analysis utilises a unique dataset, rich in its variable base, for academic staff from five old established Scottish universities during 1995-1996. These universities are institutions with a strong sense of tradition and respected research reputations. We therefore analyse the most research orientated segment of the academic profession, the established universities, arguably the most influential, as their behaviour may be an important signal to the entire profession.
This thesis consists of two studies, in which gender differences in nasal chemosensory function are investigated. The first study assesses odor identification ability in a populationbased sample, varying from 45 to 90 yrs, screened for cognitive impairment and severe olfactory dysfunction. Results show that women are generally better than men at identifying odors, but there is no significant interaction of gender by age. Although odoridentification is influenced by semantic memory and cognitive speed, these cognitivefactors are unlikely to cause the observed gender difference in odor identi

Issues related to the composition of audit committees have attracted significant interest from legislators and regulators in recent years. In my dissertation, I examine one overlooked component of audit committee composition – namely, the presence of female directors on the audit committee. I empirically test to see if there are any differences in the functioning of audit committee when there is at least one female director on the audit committee. My dissertation examines three issues: audit committee diligence, audit pricing and earnings management. The absence of females on corporate boards

Data were presented from a study on expression of resistance gene Mi-1.2 of protective genes of the PR gene family (PR-2, PR-3) and genes of serine and cysteine proteinase (PIser PIcys) inhibitors in tissues of tomato plants of resistant and susceptible hybrids infected by gall nematodes and an assessment of their role in parasite resistance was given. Differences were detected in the expression of the studied genes at all stages of nematode development in the roots of resistant and susceptible plants.
