Resumen

Psykiske lidelser er sammen med bevægeapparatlidelser de to største diagnostiske grupper i sygefraværet, som hver især udgør ca. 30 %. En tidlig identificering af psykiske lidelser er helt afgørende for iværksættelse af de rette tiltag for at sikre reintegration på arbejdsmarkedet. Sagsbehandlere i sygedagpengesystemet spiller en afgørende rolle heri. Denne artikel udforsker sagsbehandleres arbejdsvirkelighed og særligt de udfordringer, de møder i forbindelse med sagsbehandling af sygemeldte borgere med psykiske lidelser. Dette gøres med henblik på at fremtidige interventioner, der inkluderer sagsbehandlere, bedre kan integrere de rammer sagsbehandlingen foregår under.1

Resumen

This article introduces an approach within social work called green social. It is argued that this approach has a critical potential in its ability to respond to urgent issues concerning people’s current and future living conditions. It is further argued that in addition to its traditional involvement in problematic distribution of resources, social work can act upon linkages between social issues and issues concerning environmental and climate crisis when integrating areas of knowledge from other disciplines. Such linkages imply a revision of the construct ”person-in-environment” that traditionally denote a delimited notion of environment as the ”social environment”, thereby disregarding the biophysical environment that human beings are a part of. The article discusses concepts such as ”sustainable welfare”, ”de-growth” and ”transition” and presents examples of so-called ecosocial interventions while also making an argument for strengthening community work in Sweden.

Resumen

Introduktion; Grundet øget risiko for visse livsstilsrelaterede sygdomme udgør migranter en vigtig målgruppe for sundhedsfremme- og forebyggelsesinterventioner. Det kan imidlertid være vanskeligt at tiltrække migrantmænd til sådanne interventioner, blandt andet grundet psykosocial sårbarhed. Formålet med undersøgelsen var at opnå indsigt i oplevelsen af psykosocial sårbarhed og betydningen for sundhedsadfærd blandt migrantmænd. Dette gøres via en sekundær analyse af interviewdata vedrørende generelle barrierer for kost- og motionsadfærd blandt denne gruppe. Materiale og metoder; Semi-strukturerede gruppe- og enkeltinterviews blev gennemført med 17 migrantmænd med livsstilsrelaterede sygdomme eller overvægt. Interviewpersonerne boede i København og havde pakistansk, tyrkisk og somalisk oprindelse. Rekruttering foregik via informationsmøder samt ressourcepersoner i to boligområder. Interviewene blev transskriberet og analyseret tematisk. Resultater; En vigtig barriere for sundhedsadfærd var psykosocial sårbarhed relateret til mændenes rolle i familien (oplevelse af fremmedgjorthed og utilstrækkelighed) og deres socioøkonomiske position. Mændene oplever disse psykosociale problemstillinger som mere akutte og væsentlige at håndtere end sundhedsadfærd. Konklusion; Psykosocial sårbarhed udgør en væsentlig barriere for migrantmænds sundhedsadfærd. Psykosociale behov bør derfor indtænkes i interventioner rettet mod migrantmænd.

Resumen

Kraven på evidensbaserad utbildning har drivit fram en rad initiativ som avser att minska det förmodade gapet mellan forskning, politik och praktik. Bland dessa initiativ finns etableringen av särskilda organisationer—så kallade mäklarorganisationer—med uppgift att syntetisera resultaten av utbildningsvetenskaplig forskning. I Sverige har Skolforskningsinstitutet inrättats för att genomföra systematiska översikter inom skolans och förskolans område. Skolforskningsinstitutet ska ge lärare bättre förutsättningar att undervisa med stöd av vetenskapligt underbyggda metoder och arbetssätt. Kritiker hävdar dock att mäklarorganisationer överlag prioriterar aggregativa översikter för att utvärdera effekterna av interventioner och att denna inriktning är mindre passande för komplexa områden som utbildning. I ljuset av Skolforskningsinstitutets uppdrag och den kritik som riktats mot systematiska översikter argumenterar jag i denna artikel för att institutets verksamhet bör inbegripa konfigurativa översikter. Konfigurativa översikter skulle ge Skolforskningsinstitutet bättre möjligheter att genomföra sitt uppdrag, framförallt eftersom konfigurativa format kan utarbetas för att: (1) understödja omdömen om vad som är utbildningsmässigt önskvärt; (2) inkludera studier från praktikutvecklande ansatser; samt (3) förmedla kunskap med potential att spela en kritisk roll i undervisningen.

AbstractArtiklen handler om at tilegne sig viden om entreprenørskab som undervisningsform gennem en eksperimentel praksis. Vi beskriver udfordringer, dilemmaer, erfaringer og vendepunkter i forløbet og forklarer, hvordan fokus i den kollegiale supervision flyttede til at udvikle faglighed i fællesskab. Forløbets eksplorative og fleksible form blev ledsaget af dialog på flere niveauer og inddrog både de studerende og alle undervisere. Målene kunne præciseres og ændres, og institutionens faglighed udvides. Med metaforen ’tvillinger’ blev kolleger indbudt til særligt at følge underviserne i eksperimentet. Deres involvering viste sig i dialogiske interventioner i undervisningens form og indhold. This article presents an explorative journey carried out by a team of teachers. The aim was to develop their teaching methods in master courses in communication by integrating entrepreneurial thinking. The focus of the teacher-to-teacher supervision changed through the teamwork process. An initial concern about individual teaching skills was transformed into a joint concern about how to strengthen the academic argument for entrepreneurial thinking in academic education. The added value of working as a team in developing academic teaching is that a general reluctance towards entrepreneurial thinking has been transformed into a mutual interest and willingness to accept that certain entrepreneurial elements can improve academic standards.

ResumeFormålet med denne artikel er at søge svar på, hvordan deltagelse i et helhedsorienteret tilbud kan styrke familiers indflydelse på eget liv. Det forekommer at være lidt af et paradoks, at større indblanding i privatsfæren kan føre til øget indflydelse på eget liv. Artiklen har til formål, i et borgerperspektiv, at undersøge, hvordan paradokset opleves. Artiklens empiriske grundlag og fund stammer fra udforskning af projektet Familiens Trivsel – Barnets Trivsel over en periode på tre år. Et af formålene med projektet er at styrke udsatte familiers motivation og involvering – og give dem øget indflydelse på løsning af egne udfordringer. Artiklen behandler dette formål set i familiernes perspektiv. Analyserne har især fokus på tre fund. Det første fund handler om, hvorfor familierne har sagt ja tak til at deltage i tilbuddet, og hvordan den nye praksis tilbyder nye erfaringer med velfærdssystemet. Det andet fund drejer sig om, hvilke erfaringer familierne har med at have en medarbejder tæt på i privatsfæren, og hvordan udvikling af tillid forklares af familierne. Det sidste fund peger på, at helbredsudfordringer spiller en stor rolle i familiernes selvforståelse, og arbejdet hermed opfattes meget bredt. Vi konkluderer på fund om, hvordan tillid udvikles trinvis, og vi perspektiverer til, hvordan nye identitetsmuligheder potentielt giver adgang til nye fællesskaber. Vi perspektiverer desuden til det professionelle arbejde, der foregår i den forbindelse, som en tilførsel af socialpædagogik til det socialfaglige felt. Distinktionen mellem socialpædagogisk og socialfaglig tilgang defineres, kort fortalt, som forskelle mellem interventioner på borgerens præmisser i modsætning til interventioner på velfærdssystemets præmisser. AbstractVulnerable Families’ Perspectives on Coordinated and Holistic Social Efforts. On Empowering their Competencies to ActThe purpose of this article is to examine how participation in holistic training – as an offer to families – can strengthen families´ influence on their own lives. It seems paradoxical that increased interference in the private sphere can lead to increased influence on one’s own life. The article examines, from a citizen perspective, how this paradox is experienced. The empirical basis and the findings of the article derives from exploring the project The Family’s Well-Being – The Child’s Well-Being (Familiens Trivsel – Barnets Trivsel) for tree years. One aim of the project is to strengthen the motivation and engagement of vulnerable families and provide them with more influence on solving their own challenges. The article addresses this purpose from the families’ perspective.The analyses focus in particular on three findings. Firstly, why the families have accepted to participate in the training and how this new practice provide them with new experience regarding the welfare system. The second finding deals with the families’ experience with having an employee close to them and how development of trust is explained by the families. The last finding points out that health challenges play a major role in the families’ self-understanding, and the work on this covers a wide field. We conclude on findings on how trust develops incrementally, and we put into perspective how possibly new identities can provide access to new communities. Moreover, we put into perspective the professional work that takes place in this context, which is a supply of social pedagogy to the field of social science.

Bakgrund: Arbetsfrånvaro och långtidssjukskrivningar på grund av arbetsrelaterad stress och psykisk ohälsa ökar. Dess effekter påverkar både individen, organisationen och samhället. Ett bra fungerande arbetsliv bidrar till folkhälsan både genom att minska den arbetsrelaterade ohälsan och de sociala skillnaderna i ohälsa.Syfte: Syftet var att beskriva effekter av interventioner vid arbetsrelaterad stress.Metod: Denna studie var en litteraturstudie där tio vetenskapliga artiklar granskades. Artiklarna analyserades, sammanfattades och delades in i tre teman. Resultaten beskrivs med hjälp av dessa tre teman.Reslutat: Vår studie visade att de vanligaste effekterna av interventioner vid arbetsrelaterad stress var förändringar i stressnivåer, ökad kunskap och förståelse för arbetsrelaterad stress samt ökat stöd, förändrade beteenden och attityder. Kognitiv beteendeterapi, avslappningsövningar och aktivt lyssnande var metoder som visade sig vara effektiva.Slutsats: Förändringar i stressnivå, ökad kunskap och förståelse samt ökat stöd, förändrade beteenden och attityder visade sig vara de viktigaste effekterna av interventioner vid arbetsrelaterad stress. Genom att kombinera interventioner på både individ- och organisationsnivå kan resultatet bli både effektivt och långsiktigt.
Background: The levels of absenteeism and long term disability due to work-related stress and mental health problem are increasing. It affects the individual, organization and society. A well-functioning workplace contributes to public health, with both reductions in work-related illnesses and social inequalities in health. Aim: The aim of this study is to describe the effects of interventions on work-related stress. Methods: This study was a literature study in which ten scientific articles were reviewed. The articles were analyzed, summarized and divided into three themes. The results were described using these three themes. Results: We found in our study that the most common effects of the interventions on work-related stress proved to be change in stress levels, increased knowledge and understanding of work-related stress and increased support, attitude and behavior change. Conclusion: Changes in levels of stress, increased knowledge and understanding as well as increased support, changing behaviors and attitudes proved to be the most important effects of interventions of work-related stress. By combining interventions at both individual and organizational levels, the result can be both effective and sustainable.

Sammanfattning Syftet med denna litteraturstudie var att göra en sammanställning och beskriva vad som fanns i vetenskaplig litteratur gällande sömnfrämjande interventioner för äldre personer med demenssjukdom. Metoden var en deskriptiv litteraturstudie baserad på 14 vetenskapliga artiklar från sju länder, publicerade mellan år 2005- 2010. Artikelsökning gjordes i databaserna Medline och Cinahl, även en manuell sökning ingick. Inkluderade artiklar i resultatet är granskade och kvalitetsbedömda. Huvudresultatet visade att det fanns olika interventioner som ljusterapi, melatonin, akupressur, social aktivitet, utbildning och örtmedicin för att främja sömnstörningar för personer med demenssjukdom. De olika interventionerna uppvisade lite skiftande effekt för att främja sömnen, ingen av interventionerna ansågs övertygande däremot upptäcktes andra positiva effekter gällande agitation, dygnsrytmstörningar och vakenheten under dagen. Slutsatsen av denna litteraturstudie är att mer riktad forskning behövs om olika interventioner för att främja sömnstörningar hos äldre personer med demenssjukdomar. Förbättring av sömnkvalitet, livskvalitet och återhämtning är målsättningen med interventionerna. Sjuksköterskan kan förbättra sömnkvaliteten hos patienterna med hjälp av icke farmakologiska interventioner. Sömnhygien, sociala aktiviteter och att förstärka exponeringen av solljus och klart ljus är förstahandsval vid behandling av sömnstörning hos personer med demenssjukdom.
Abstract The aim of this literature study was to describe the scientific literature for sleep disorder interventions for older people with dementia. The method was a descriptive study based on 14 scientific articles from seven countries, published between the years 2005 - 2010. Article search was made in the databases Medline and Cinahl, and manual searches were included. Included articles in the results were reviewed and quality estimated. The main result showed that there were various interventions as light therapy, melatonin, acupressure, social activity, education and herbal medicine to promote sleep disorders for people with dementia. The various interventions showed varied effect to promote sleep, none of the interventions was convincing, although other positive effects on agitation, circadian rhythm and day- time wake was discovered. The conclusion of this study is that more research is needed in different interventions to promote sleep disorders for older people with dementia. The goal of the measures is to improve quality of sleep, quality of life and recovery. Nurses can improve quality of sleep in patients with non-pharmacological interventions. Sleep hygiene, social activities and increase exposure of sunlight and bright light is first choice to treat sleep disorders among persons with dementia.

Resumen

Problematiskt datorspelande är ett beteende som ökar hos våra barn och unga. Några utvecklar beroende, diagnosen är ny och benämns gaming disorder. De barn och unga som utvecklar gaming disorder lider av ohälsa både fysiskt, psykiskt och socialt. Sjuksköterskan har en betydande roll vid beroendesjukdomar och dess interventioner. Syftet var att sammanställa och beskriva det vetenskapliga underlaget gällande vilka interventioner som används och dessa interventioners effekt hos barn och unga när det gäller gaming disorder. Beskrivande litteraturöversikt har använts som metod, där 11 vetenskapliga artiklar med kvantitativ metod söktes i databaserna Cinahl, APA Psykinfo och Pubmed (n=9) och en manuell litteratursökning av referenslistor (n=2) som besvarade syftet för examensarbetet. Elva artiklar granskades och analysen resulterade i två övergripande kategorier; interventioner vid gaming disorder och interventioners effekt, med tillhörande underkategorier. Interventioner som användes vid gaming disorder var olika former av kognitiv beteendeterapi (KBT) samt behandling med farmaka eller mindfulness. Resultatet visade att dessa interventioners effekt gav olika grad av symtomreducering vilket ledde till ökad hälsa. Slutsatsen av litteraturstudien är att den intervention som främst användes vid gaming disorder var KBT. Den viktigaste effekten av interventionerna var att få symtomreducering av svårighetsgraden. Även familjemedverkan spelade en viktig roll för interventionsresultatet. Denna studie kommer att kunna användas av sjuksköterskor som arbetar dels preventivt med barn och unga samt inom primärvård och barnpsykiatrisk vård. Studien kommer att ge dem en överblick över vilka interventioner som finns och vilka effekter som kan förväntas av initierad intervention.

Bakgrund: Den globala befolkningen blir allt äldre. Det är även vanligt hos äldre människor att känna ensamhet, vilket kan leda till fysisk ohälsa och lidande. Eftersom sjuksköterskan ska motverka ohälsa och främja hälsa är det av stor vikt att ha kunskap om hur ensamhet i denna ökande befolkningsgrupp kan minskas. Syfte: Syftet med litteraturstudien var att kartlägga interventioner som kan motverka ensamhet hos äldre över 60 år som bor hemma. Metod: Litteratursökningar gjordes i Cinahl, Scopus, PubMed, PsycInfo och MEDLINE. Litteraturstudien består av 9 kvantitativa interventionsstudier som har kvalitetsgranskats, analyserats och sammanställts. Resultat: Resultatet visade på att de studerade interventionerna var väldigt olika och involverade olika komponenter: samtalsgrupper, kognitiva övningar, fysisk aktivitet, sociala aktiviteter och information/rådgivning. Samtliga interventioner som innehöll kognitiva övningar var i denna litteraturstudie effektiva. KBT i kombination med Baduanjin qigong sågs vara effektivare än enbart KBT. Resterande komponenter var delvis effektiva. Konklusion: Lösningen på problematik med ensamhet verkar vara högst komplicerad. Samtliga komponenter kan ha potential att kombinerade vara effektiva i att minska ensamhet. Etablerade mätinstrument bör användas på grund av stigmatisering av fenomenet ensamhet. Mer forskning behövs för att kunna dra säkra slutsatser.
Background: The global population is getting increasingly older. Loneliness is common among elderly people and can lead to suffering and decreased physical health. Nurses should promote well-being, which is why knowledge of how loneliness in this rising population can be reduced is important. Aim: The aim of this literature study was to compile interventions that can counteract loneliness among elderly over the age of 60 who are living at home. Methods: Searches were made in Cinahl, Scopus, PubMed, PsycInfo and MEDLINE. The literature study consists of 9 quantitative intervention studies that have been reviewed for quality, analyzed and compiled. Results: The outcome shows that the studied interventions were very diverse and consisted of different components: therapy groups, cognitive exercises, physical activity, social activities, and information/counseling. All studies that included cognitive exercises were efficient. CBT combined with Baduanjin qigong was more efficient than exclusively CBT. The remaining components were partially efficient. Conclusion: The solution to the problem of loneliness seems to be complicated. All components have the potential of being efficient when combined. More research is needed in order to draw correct conclusions. Established measuring instruments should be used due to the stigma surrounding loneliness.

Resumen

Syftet med studien var att undersöka vilka arbetsterapeutiska interventioner som genomförs för barn och ungdomar i skolan. Metoden som användes var en kvalitativ metod där sju yrkesverksamma arbetsterapeuter anställda på skola och barn- och ungdomshabiliteringen intervjuades utifrån en semistrukturerad intervjuguide för att ta del av deras erfarenheter. Ett strategiskt samt snöbollsurval användes vid rekrytering av deltagare. Vid dataanalys av det insamlade materialet användes en kvalitativ innehållsanalys. Resultat visade att arbetsterapeutiska interventioner i skolmiljö är mångsidiga och möjliggör ökad självständighet och delaktighet för barn i svenska skolor. Det framkom tydligt hur arbetsterapeuternas klientcentrerade arbete och helhetssyn gällande människan resulterade i interventioner utifrån varje elevs unika förutsättningar. Resultatet visade att interventionerna både skulle underlätta skolgången och förbereda eleverna inför vuxenlivet. Fyra teman med underteman identifierades: Balans i aktivitetsmönster: Främja välmående i och utanför skolan. Miljöanpassning: Möjliggöra delaktighet och tillgodogöra sig undervisningen i skolans lokaler. Hjälpmedel (underteman: kognitiva och sensoriska): Ökad självständighet under lektion och vid förflyttning. Handledning av personal: Förmedling av kunskap till skolpersonal om hur miljön kan anpassas och kompenseras för att öka elevens förutsättningar till lärande och utveckling. Slutsatsen av resultatet visade hur arbetsterapeuters arbete i skolan bidrog till ökad delaktighet och självständighet i aktivitet för både den enskilda eleven på gruppnivå vilket visade att den arbetsterapeutiska kompetensen är applicerbar i skolans verksamhet. Denna studie bekräftade att det finns ett behov av ytterligare forskning för att förstärka värdet av arbetsterapeutens bidrag inom detta område.
The purpose of the study was to investigate which occupational therapy interventions are carried out for children and young people in school. The method used was a qualitative method where seven occupational therapists in school and child- and youth habilitation were interviewed based on a semi-structured interview guide to share their experiences. A strategic selection and snowball sampling was used when recruiting participants. In data analysis of the collected material, a qualitative content analysis was used. Results showed that occupational therapy interventions in the school environment are versatile and enable increased independence and participation for children in Swedish schools. It became clear how the occupational therapists' client-centered work and holistic view of the human being resulted in interventions based on each student's unique situation. The results showed that the interventions would both facilitate schooling and prepare students for adulthood. Four themes with sub-themes were identified: Balance in activity patterns: Promoting well-being in and out of school. Environmental adaptation: Enable participation and assimilate the teaching in the school premises. Aids (sub-themes: cognitive and sensory): Increased independence during lesson and when moving. Coaching of staff: Dissemination of knowledge to school staff on how the environment can be adapted and compensated to increase the student's conditions for learning and development. The conclusion of the result showed how occupational therapists' work in the school contributed to increased participation and independence in activity for both the individual student at group level, which showed that the occupational therapy competence is applicable in the school's activities. This study confirmed that there is a need for further research to reinforce the value of the occupational therapist's contribution in this area.

Resumen

This study is a systematic literature review over 12 peer reviewed articles regarding the topiccyberbullying. The purpose of this study is to summarise and critically discuss different interventions and preventions used to tackle cyberbullying in school environments.Interventions and preventions will be analysed from a relational perspective. The articles are sorted and discussed in four relevant categories. These are: Netiquette, building relationships, Learning through role models, antibullying programs. The study found that the foundation of most successful interventions against cyberbullying is healthy relationships between students and school staff. The result showed that based on meaningful relationships, successful interventions and preventions can be formed and used in school. It is important to acknowledge that not a single intervention can solve a complex problem like cyberbullying, but instead there is a need for a combination of different interventions and more knowledge about the phenomena cyberbullying.

Resumen

Abstract Designing products to encourage sustainable behavior during their use can have significant influence on their total environmental impact. Cognitive interventions can be used to inform users of the importance of sustainable behavior and make users aware of the resources they consume while evoking positive or negative emotions. The first part of this study investigated two methods of cognitive interventions, information (positively and negatively framed) and feedback, and their effectiveness in encouraging users to reduce their napkin consumption in cafés. The number of napkins per transaction illustrated a short-term behavior change for positive information, a longer-term behavior change for negative information, and no change for feedback. In the second phase of this study, a survey was conducted to understand environmental concerns around napkin consumption and emotions and perceived effectiveness of each intervention. Results from 295 valid survey responses showed that the positively framed informative design reminded users to use less napkins in order to save trees and was dominated by positive emotions such as feeling encouraged. The negative information message informed users to use fewer napkins due to the consequences on the environment and was related to negative emotions such as guilt and worry. The feedback intervention’s message was more informative, reminding users that napkins come from trees and the emotions evoked from the intervention closely resembled that of the control. These findings suggest that information and feedback interventions that evoke emotions can be used to promote sustainable behavior.

Resumen

Computing the effects of interventions from observational data is an important task encountered in many data-driven sciences. The problem is addressed by identifying the post-interventional distribution with an expression that involves only quantities estimable from the pre-interventional distribution over observed variables, given some knowledge about the causal structure. In this work, we relax the requirement of having a fully specified causal structure and study the identifiability of effects with a singleton intervention (X), supposing that the structure is known only up to an equivalence class of causal diagrams, which is the output of standard structural learning algorithms (e.g., FCI). We derive a necessary and sufficient graphical criterion for the identifiability of the effect of X on all observed variables. We further establish a sufficient graphical criterion to identify the effect of X on a subset of the observed variables, and prove that it is strictly more powerful than the current state-of-the-art result on this problem.

The paper deals with three intervention techniques implemented for the rehabilitation and strengthening of reinforced concrete (RC) structures in the Bulgarian construction practice. Some of the main details of the conceptual design are presented: 1) identification of vulnerabilities and evaluation of deficiencies; 2) understanding the performance of the existing structures;3) determining the level of intervention; 4) analysis of possible intervention materials; 5)assessing available information, documents, historical context, etc.; 6) preparing individual strategies for interventions.The analyzed examples give the basic of different procedures for improvement the performance of three classic reinforced concrete structures. The analysis aims (1) to discover the problems in the design of interventions in the specific cases, (2) to discuss the question for interventions, (3) to show how interventions on existing structures can be reached successfully under current conditions and restrictions.Based on the presented case studies some general recommendations for the realization of the strengthening procedures in buildings are given.

Resumen

Negative effects of extensive connectivity to work through excessive use of technology have yielded discussions about the right to disconnect for employees. Organizations are beginning to introduce interventions that aim at enabling their employees to detach from work (i.e., refrain from work-related thoughts and activities during non-work hours). However, there is limited academic research on how organizations should introduce interventions that lead to a successful disconnection of their employees. Based on an interdisciplinary literature review and reports on companies’ best practices, this study proposes a classification of organizational interventions based on the level, target, and mechanism of the intervention. I include the theory of psychological detachment to propose a measurement of the success of an intervention. The classification provides researchers and practitioners with a common framework to develop and evaluate interventions aimed at fostering employees’ disconnection from work.

Resumen

Drug use among higher education students can cause harm to the individual, their institution, and the wider society. Academic performance, physical and mental health, institutional reputation, crime and unemployment can all be impacted by student drug use. Tackling this is a challenge, and is often compounded by limited student health and counselling capacity and the student’s reluctance or unwillingness to seek support. Digital brief interventions have shown promise in reducing harm from substance use, and provide an opportunity to meet students where they are, delivering always-on, confidential support and intervention. However, limited interventions for drug use are available for students, and many struggle with engagement and retention. Our team have developed a novel brief intervention, using best practices in digital intervention development, and behavioural change to overcome some of these challenges. We describe the development of our intervention and discuss how implementation could result in tangible benefits to the individual, institution, and society.

ABSTRACT Background: Childhood stunting remains a major malnutritional problem in developing countries. Stunting occurred the adverse effects on children’s health in the short and long term, including failure to thrive, impairment of cognitive and motor development, stunted stature, metabolic disorders, and decreased intellectual capacity. Integrated nutritional intervention is important to prevent stunting. This study aimed to identify the nutritional interventions to reduce stunting in developing countries. Subjects and Method: A systematic review was conducted by searching from Wiley Online Library, and ProQuest databases. The research question was formulated in PICO-S format: (1) Population, (2) Intervention, (3) Comparison, (4) Outcome, and (5) Study design. The next step was identification, screening, and checking the eligibility of the studies. The keywords were nutrition intervention and stunting reduction. The inclusion criteria were openly accessed and English-language articles published between 2019 to 2020. The searched articles were conducted identification, screening, and eligibility. The data were reported by PRISMA flow chart. Results: Nine articles met the inclusion criteria. Integrated efforts to reduce stunting incidence were carried out through sensitive and specific nutritional interventions. A holistic approach involving the non-health sectors had significant impacts. Some limitations had still occurred in the capacity of implementing qualified nutritional interventions and their utilization. Conclusion: Implementation of nutritional interventions have been focused in developing countries with different approaches to reduce stunting incidence. Active steering systems allow for improved vehicle safety and stability through steering interventions that augment a driver’s steering command. In a conventional steering system, steering feedback torque depends on the tire forces and corresponding moments that act on the roadwheels. During active steering interventions, there are differences between the driver’s command and the actual roadwheel angle. The steering feedback can now be based on either the moments acting on the actual roadwheels or the moments acting on a virtual wheel following the driver’s intended steering command. With small interventions, the difference between these two approaches is negligible. However, when the intervention is large (e.g. obstacle avoidance maneuvers), basing handwheel moments on the actual roadwheel position results in a handwheel torque that acts in opposition to the intervention. The virtual wheel concept produces a more supportive, and potentially more intuitive, handwheel torque. This reduces the discrepancy between the driver command and the active steering system in simulation and experiments.

Abstract Tricuspid valve regurgitation is a major clinical issue that continues to attract interest from interventional cardiologists and medical device designers due to its rising prevalence and progressive nature. This disease impact is exacerbated among the aging population, considered as high risk of mortality for open-heart surgical procedures. Furthermore, early intervention for tricuspid regurgitation following left-sided heart procedures continues to increase. Thus, percutaneous or transcatheter interventions have emerged as the new frontier for tricuspid valve therapy. Specifically, tricuspid leaflet plication, or edge-to-edge repair, is a valvular procedure to enhance the coaptation of the leaflets and reduce regurgitation. The current landscape of approved transcatheter devices for leaflet coaptation are exclusive to the mitral valve or being investigated for tricuspid treatment. However, most of these transcatheter systems are designed with high procedure specificities, are expensive, and require extensive procedural training. Hence, there is an opportunity to percutaneously plicate the tricuspid leaflets using commonly available right-heart catheter equipment. This study details a novel transcatheter repair procedure that can plicate the tricuspid valve leaflets solely using current market released catheters and/or surgical equipment. Testing and evaluation of this prototype procedure was performed using Visible Heart® methodologies.

Resumen

Various interventions (i.e., methods and tools that guide design work) have been developed to support successful idea generation in a design process. Our previous research explored the impacts of three such design interventions: cognitive-style based teaming, problem framing, and design heuristics. In this work, we looked across these interventions to compare their effects on students’ design ideas. In particular, 966 design ideas collected from 152 undergraduate students in engineering and industrial design from two Midwestern universities were analyzed to investigate their quality with and without each design intervention. Statistically significant differences were observed for the teaming and problem framing interventions. This study has implications for design educators in how design interventions might be used to affect students’ design solutions.

Background: It has been suggested that interventions focusing on individual behaviour change, such as behavioural weight management interventions, may exacerbate health inequalities. These intervention-generated inequalities may occur at different stages, including intervention uptake, adherence and effectiveness. We conducted a systematic review to synthesise evidence on how different measures of inequality moderate the uptake of, adherence to and effectiveness of behavioural weight management interventions in adults. Methods: We updated a previous systematic literature review from the US Preventive Services Taskforce to identify trials of behavioural weight management interventions in adults that could be conducted in or recruited from primary care. Medline, Cochrane database (CENTRAL) and PsycINFO were searched. Only randomised controlled trials and cluster-randomised controlled trials were included. Two investigators independently screened articles for eligibility and conducted risk of bias assessment. We curated publication families for eligible trials. The PROGRESS-Plus acronym (place of residence, race/ethnicity, occupation, gender, religion, education, socioeconomic status, social capital, plus other discriminating factors) was used to consider a comprehensive range of health inequalities. Data on trial uptake, intervention adherence, weight change, and PROGRESS-Plus related-data were extracted. Results: Data extraction in currently underway. A total of 108 studies are included in the review. Data will be synthesised narratively and through the use of Harvest Plots. A Harvest plot for each PROGRESS-Plus criterion will be presented, showing whether each trial found a negative, positive or no health inequality gradient. We will also identify potential sources of unpublished original research data on these factors which can be synthesised through a future individual participant data meta- analysis. Conclusions and implications: The review findings will contribute towards the consideration of intervention-generated inequalities by researchers, policy makers and healthcare and public health practitioners. Authors of trials included in the completed systematic review may be invited to collaborate on a future IPD meta-analysis. PROSPERO registration number: CRD42020173242

Resumen

The purpose of document is to provide readers with the coding protocol that authors used to code 22 mathematics intervention meta-analyses focused on participants with or at-risk of disabilities. The author drafted this coding protocol based on the meta-analysis quality indicators recommended by Talbott et al. (2018, pp. 248–249); specifically, the author considered the variables presented in Table 1 of Talbott et al. and supplemented the information so that the variables and definitions were specific to the purpose of this systematic review. We coded each meta-analysis for 53 variables across eight categories, including: Quality of Clear Research Questions, Quality of Eligibility Criteria, Quality of Search Procedures, Quality of Screening Criteria, Quality of Coding Procedures, Quality of Research Participants and Contexts, Quality of Data Analysis Plan, and Quality of Reporting Results. The mean interrater reliability across all codes using this protocol was 87.8% (range across categories = 74% –100%).

Resumen

The primary purpose of this paper is to introduce essential elements of cognitive information processing (CIP) theory, research, and practice as they existed at the time of this writing. The introduction that follows describes the nature of career choices and career interventions, and the integration of theory, research, and practice. After the introduction, the paper continues with three main sections that include CIP theory related to vocational behavior, research related to vocational behavior and career intervention, and CIP theory related to career interventions. The first main section describes CIP theory, including the evolution of CIP theory, the nature of career problems, theoretical assumptions, the pyramid of information processing domains, the CASVE Cycle, and the use of the pyramid and CASVE cycle. The second main section describes CIP theory-based research in examining vocational behavior and establishing evidence-based practice for CIP theory-based career interventions. The third main section describes CIP theory related to career intervention practice, including theoretical assumptions, readiness for career decision making, readiness for career intervention, the differentiated service delivery model, and critical ingredients of career interventions. The paper concludes with regularly updated sources of information on CIP theory.
