Resumen
The two purposes of this study were to shorten the Craig Lipreading Inventory without affecting its reliability and validity and to establish normative data on the revised version. The full inventory was administered to 75 children. By item analysis, half of the items were selected to comprise the brief version; both versions were administered to another group of 75 children. Scores on the two versions correlated (.91 and .92, respectively, for Word Forms A and B and .97 and .95, respectively, for Sentence Forms A and B), thereby substantiating the construct validity of the briefer version. There was significantly high intertest reliability for the Word Forms (.80) and Sentence Forms (.82) of the briefer inventory. Normative data were computed for each age group. This briefer version is a temporally efficient tool for evaluating lipreading ability of children.

Resumen
The situation related to the primary documents and the structure of their forms for accounting for intangible assets needs to be resolved. The existence of a number of options for the use of forms of primary documents for accounting for intangible assets, which complicates the documentation process, as the primary forms are partially collected and regulated by several laws and regulations. The need to streamline and summarize the primary documents for accounting for intangible assets and goodwill is emphasized, the order of which should be regulated by a single document. It is recommended to implement the Guidelines for the use of forms of primary accounting of intangible assets and goodwill, with a set of relevant details, which should include documents that will reflect all groups of intangible assets, not just those related to intellectual property. Emphasis was placed on the need to develop primary documentation that will reflect the operations with the formation of intangible assets that will create internal goodwill. It is noted that the use of uniform, agreed forms of primary accounting of intangible assets is also necessary to improve the quality of inspections by regulatory authorities. Primary accounting forms for inventory of intangible assets № IA-4 «Inventory description of intellectual property rights (PR)» and № IA-5 «Inventory description of objects of the right to use natural resources, property and other intangible assets» are developed and recommended to use. It is substantiated to make clarifications and introduce additional details to the inventory descriptions, which is necessary to improve the quality of information formation during the inventory. Emphasis is placed on the need to disclose in the process of inventory objective information about intellectual property objects by checking them for functional compliance, to record the working condition of such objects.

Resumen
The present study was designed to test the hypothesis that response bias was present in the standard form of Kolb's Learning Style Inventory and that this bias lowered reliability. An alternative form of the inventory was created by realigning the response endings to the sentences. Correlations calculated on scores obtained on two separate occasions for the two forms ranged from .45 to .73. Realignment did not improve reliabilities.

Resumen
The knowledge on the floral and faunal composition of protected areas (PAs) is crucial for formulating suitable conservation plan. In this paper, inventory and species richness of non-marine molluscs of Chintamoni Kar Bird Sanctuary has been made and is for the first time from any PA of West Bengal. A total of 276 specimens belonging to 22 species (10 species of land snails and 12 species of freshwater) of non-marine molluscs (land and freshwater) were collected and examined from this sanctuary. The malacofaunal inventory comprises of nine genera under seven families among land snails and 12 genera & seven families from both gastropods & bivalves under the freshwater forms. As far as species richness is concerned, the family Ariophantidae was found to be dominant among land forms whereas species of the families Thiaridae and Unionidae were dominant among freshwater forms.

Wheeler, Harold William. "The reliability and validity of ipsative and normative forms of the Hutchins Behavior Inventory". Diss., Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, 1986. http://hdl.handle.net/10919/77787.

Texto completo
Resumen
The current trend among theorists in counseling and psychotherapy is toward the development of metatheoretical models that can be used to organize, systematically and comprehensively, existing theories and techniques within the discipline. Some models also provide behavior adaptation guidelines for practitioners who wish to adapt their behavior to client behavior patterns. Hutchins created the metatheoretical TFA System to accomplish the above goals. He also created the Hutchins Behavior Inventory (HBI) to complement the TFA System. The HBI purportedly measures the thinking, feeling, and acting dimensions of behavior upon which the TFA System is built; it thus enables a practitioner to assess the unique, situationally specific, TFA behavior pattern of a client. At the time of this study, the only evidence concerning the measurement properties of the HBI was for a form that produces ipsative scores (the HBI-I) . But ipsative scores possess inherent psychometric properties that cause problems when they are subjected to certain types of statistical analyses. Thus, in this study, a normative form of the HBI (the HBI-N) was designed. The measurement properties of the HBI-I and HBI-N were then investigated and compared. Reliability was investigated using test-retest and internal consistency procedures. Construct-related validity was investigated using four procedures: internal consistency analysis of HBI-N scores; factor analysis of the items comprising the scales of the HBI-N; an analysis of a multitrait-multimethod validity matrix containing scores from the HBI-I, HBI-N, Strong Campbell Interest Inventory (SCII), and Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI); and a factorial validity analysis of scores from the HBI-N, SCII, and MBTI. Results indicated that the HBI-I possesses a high degree of reliability. Prior evidence of content-related validity suggested that the three constructs measured by the HBI are the thinking, feeling, and acting dimensions of behavior hypothesized by Hutchins. Some of the construct-related validity results obtained in this study supported this conclusion, while the main body of results supported the more limited conclusion that the HBI scales measure different, yet to be more clearly identified, constructs. Based on the evidence in this study, the HBI-I seems appropriate for research and clinical use.

Stocktaking is an exhausting process where employee’s collects data and is something that most companies do, although what they are collecting differs from business to business. Because it is a resource-waste to solve same problem multiple times, without reusing previous solutions, the student have choosen to study an overall solution for a stocktaking system that can be used by multiple businesses. The purpose of this report is to establish the end-user requirements on a stocktaking system and study which technical solutions can be used when developing a stocktaking system. The study used an abductive method with a case study on stocktaking. For the case study the empiricism was collected with interviews. A meta-analysis was implemented for the purpose to seek and analyse relevant literature. The result of the study was a requirement specification for an inventory system based on the forest and stock industry. The result also contains technical solutions that can be applied on the system in order to fulfill the requirements. In parallel with the study an attempt was made to develop a prototype of a stocktaking client togheter with Sweco that met both their requirements and requirements that was obtained from the interviews. The results show that the stocktaking client can manage to create, save and recreate dynamic forms. When forms are created their controls also have the ability to specify restrictions. The client can interpret these restrictions and validate the inputs before saving results. The results of the study also implies that a feasibility study of a system tend to find hidden requirements. The primary limitations of the study were time. If the study had a larger timescope more time could have been spent on collecting empirical data and gather end-user requirements.

Nel, Werner. "A spatial inventory of glacial, periglacial and rapid mass movement forms on part of Marion Island : implications for Quaternary environmental change". Diss., University of Pretoria, 2001. http://hdl.handle.net/2263/62973.

Resumen
While climate change is expected to have its greatest impacts in the earth's polar regions, most studies to date concentrate on Northern Hemisphere landscape changes. In contrast, Southern Hemisphere periglacial environments are poorly understood, both in terms of basic understanding of geomorphological dynamics as well as sensitivity to climate change. Marion Island constitutes such an environment and the purpose of this project was to assess the Late Pleistocene and Holocene glacial, periglacial and mass movement morphology on the island, and to use these data as indicators for climate change. A survey and thematic mapping, following an adaptation from the lTC working procedure, was used to compile an inventory of the glacial, periglacial and mass movement features for grey lavas on the eastern side of Marion Island. Glacial moraines, glacially polished and striated bedrock surfaces identified from previous research verified and mapped, while undocumented sites were added to the inventory. Data support the findings of Hall (1978; 1980a; 1982) and that the suggested palaeoreconstruction and glacial succession on Marion Island from that research is correctly interpreted. Periglacial landforms occur Qn all the grey lava areas that were surveyed on Marion Island. The features are found throughout the whole island altitudinal range, and definite trends can be discerned, where landform size increases with altitude. No significant differences, however, appear to exist between the warmer north-facing and colder south facing slopes with regards to the size distribution of periglacial features on Marion Island. Increasing periglacial activity with altitude is indicative of an increase in frequency and/or intensity of frost induced processes. Stone-banked lobes, stone-banked terraces, vegetation-banked lobes and blockstreams identified in this study and whose morphology cannot be explained by present day soil frost activity are considered relict. These features indicate and confirm conclusions from previous studies that Marion Island experienced a more severe frost environment than present. Rapid mass movement features are present in most grey lava areas, except where there is an absence of cliffs or where low slope angles are found. Screes are mostly found where high free faces exist and the extent of the screes is related to the morphology of the cliffs above. Peat slides are common in middle and low altitudinal areas between 150m a.s.l. and 450m a.s.l. where thick soil and steeper slopes are present. However, peat slides are conspicuously absent form the feldmark environments due to a lack of peaty soil. Most peat slides on Marion Island occur on the north facing slopes of the major ridgelines. It is concluded from observations that major scree production occurred during a period of more intensive periglacial activity during the early Holocene lasting from 12kBP until 7kBP. The area demarcated as Feldmark Plateau, is bounded by faults due to isostatic uplift on deglaciation, which indicates that the ice cover in this region must have been extensive. However, no irrefutable proxy evidence for glacial activity has been found in this area. Periglacial features on the Feldmark Plateau are relatively larger than the same landforms in other areas at similar altitudes and possible reasons for this could be that the Feldmark Plateau was not glaciated in the Pleistocene; the features would then have developed under a cold, but ice-free environment. It should be noted that all slopes of the Feldmark Plateau are south facing and thus receive less insolation than north facing slopes. In addition, the slopes occupy the southern sector of the island, which may further contribute towards a cooler and more intense frost environment. It is hypothesised that a period of intense scree production occurred during the early Holocene, and this is manifested in the scree on the slopes of the Feldmark. If glaciation did occur, over-steepend slopes following ice retreat, would also have been conducive to intense scree production. It can, therefore, be concluded that the Feldmark Plateau, if glaciated, became ice-free rapidly after glaciation, so that the intense periglacial activity, plus the oversteepend slopes left by the glacial activity, produced large amount of scree from the cliffs. The inventory of periglacial, glacial and mass movements on grey lava areas of Marion Island provides a useful baseline for geomorphological studies on Marion Island. Through refinement this database has the potential for palaeoenvironmental research and is a useful resource for earth and biological scientific studies.

MIT App Inventor is a visual blocks language that allows users to create mobile applications for Android. App Inventor users have the option of posting in a public support forum to discuss anything from specific programming issues to education issues. In order to leverage the information on the forums to improve App Inventor, we must first understand what is being discussed. In this thesis, we used unsupervised machine learning methods to automate discovery of discussion topics. First, we transformed posts into feature vectors using a bag-of-words model. Next, we clustered posts using k-means clustering and evaluated our results both quantitatively, by calculating the average silhouette of the posts, and qualitatively, by simply looking at the clusters of posts. Finally, we used LDA topic modeling to determine the topics being discussed and compared the extracted topic words to a manual evaluation of each cluster. Using this technique, we were able to uncover common problems with App Inventor that users encountered. We hope to use this information to improve users' experience with App Inventor.

The Big Five theory has been the basis for much of the personality assessment work conducted recently. Currently this is the theory that provides a better understanding of personality. The Big Five inventory- 10 (BFI-10) is a scale composed of 10 items that assesses five dimensions of personality, with two items for each factor: Extroversion, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, Neuroticism and Openness. The purpose of this study due to the need for a brief instrument based on Big Five Theory for use in research in Brazil. Were interviewed 1158 people, being the majority female (58%) aged between 14 and 35 years. In the original form of the instrument was added one item in each factor to select later the 10 items with better psychometric qualities. There was evidence of construct validity and the rates of internal consistence were acceptable. At the end of the analysis it was identified that Neuroticism was the factor that demonstrated greater legitimacy, whereas Agreeableness was the less representative. Associations were observed among factors and the sociodemographic variables: gender, age and scholarity. It has been concluded that the adapted BFI-10 can be used when the time available is very limited. Considering the limitations of a so brief scale, the results should be interpreted cautiously. Further studies should be made to complement the psychometric characteristics of the scale

Bang, Na Mi. "Cross-cultural validation of the career maturity inventory: a Korean form". Diss., University of Iowa, 2016. https://ir.uiowa.edu/etd/5708.

Texto completo
Resumen
As counselors become aware of the importance of providing culturally sensitive counseling, they can use evaluation and assessment to support client career development (Swanson & Fouad, 2014). For culturally sensitive career assessment, counselors should understand cultural factors, including the values and level of acculturation that may influence the career development process (Byars-Winston, 2014; Leong & Gim-Chung, 1995). To address this issue, this study developed and validated the Career Maturity Inventory: A Korean Form based on the Career Maturity Inventory - Counseling Form C (Savickas & Porfeli, 2011). Using Korean high students, this study validated the Korean version of the Career Maturity Inventory by translating it from English into Korean and then back from Korean into English. The structures of the two versions of the Career Maturity Inventory were comparable. This is meaningful because cross-culturally valid career inventories for adolescents who have different ethnic and cultural backgrounds create opportunities for evaluating career development and supporting career issues.

Blake, Faye W. "An Empirical Investigation of the Structural Form and Measurement Validity of the Hill Inventory". Thesis, University of North Texas, 1988. https://digital.library.unt.edu/ark:/67531/metadc331285/.

Texto completo
Resumen
This research began with the Hill Inventory. Cognitive style preference variables were classified as one of following four types: Theoretical Codes, Qualitative Codes, Social-Cultural Codes or Reasoning Modalities. A consumer behavior perspective was then used to form an alternative structure for the Hill Inventory variables. The following three constructs were proposed: Evaluation Codes, Perceptual Codes, and Reasoning Modalities. The purpose of this research was to assess the structural form and measurement validity of the Hill Inventory. Specific steps taken to accomplish this objective included: developing confirmatory factor and structural equation models; using the LISREL software package to analyze the model specifications; and assessing the validity of the questions used to measure the variables. A descriptive research design was used to compare the model specifications. The research instrument consisted of eight statements for each of twenty-eight variables for a total of 224 questions. Five-point response choices were described by the words: often, sometimes, unsure, rarely, or never. The sample consisted of 285 student subjects in marketing classes at a large university. Data analysis began by comparing the distributions of the data to a normal case. Parameter estimates, root mean square residuals and squared multiple correlations then were obtained using the LISREL VI software package. The chi-square statistic was used to test the hypotheses. This statistic was supplemented by the Tucker-Lewis index which used a null model for comparisons. The final step in data analysis was to assess the reliability of the measurements. This study affected the potential usage of the Hill Inventory for consumer behavior research. The major conclusion was that the measurement of the variables must be improved before model parameters can be tested. Specific question sets on the inventory were identified that were most in need of revision.

Resumen
Increased product proliferation and global competition are forcing companies within the supply chain to adopt new strategies. Postponement is an effective strategy that allows companies to be agile and cost effective in dealing with the dynamics of global supply chains. Postponement centres around delaying activities in the supply chain until real information about the market is available, which reduces the complexity and uncertainty of dealing with a proliferation of products. A two-echelon divergent supply chain entailing a central production facility and N retailers facing stochastic demand is studied within the inventory-distribution system. A periodic review order-up-to strategy is incorporated at all echelons. Unique to the study, five different systems are created and the effectiveness of several postponement strategies (form and transshipment) under various operational settings are compared. The importance of postponement under an integrated supply chain context and its contribution to various sector implementations are also discussed. Simulation is used to analyze the performance of the systems especially with respect to cost, order lead time and the effectiveness of transshipment policies. The study is unique in determining factors that favour one system implementation over another and distinguishing sector requirements that support postponement. In the study, postponement is found to be an effective strategy in dealing with managing item variety, demand uncertainty and differences in review periods in the two echelon supply chain for different experimental settings.

Resumen
AbstractAquaponics’ potential to transform urban food production has been documented in a rapid increase of academic research and public interest in the field. To translate this publicity into real-world impact, the creation of commercial farms and their relationship to the urban environment have to be further examined. This research has to bridge the gap between existing literature on growing system performance and urban metabolic flows by considering the built form of aquaponic farms. To assess the potential for urban integration of aquaponics, existing case studies are classified by the typology of their building enclosure, with the two main categories being greenhouses and indoor environments. This classification allows for some assumptions about the farms’ performance in their context, but a more in-depth life cycle assessment (LCA) is necessary to evaluate different configurations. The LCA approach is presented as a way to inventory design criteria and respective strategies which can influence the environmental impact of aquaponic systems in the context of urban built environments.

Resumen
The Leadership Practices Inventory (LPI) (Posner & Kouzes, 2002) was designed to measure what people did when they were at their “personal best” in leading others. Beginning their work in 1983, Posner and Kouzes approached leadership as a measurable, learnable and teachable set of behaviors. The LPI was created by developing a set of statements describing each of the identified five leadership actions and behaviors: modeling, inspiring, challenging, enabling and encouraging. Each statement is based on a 10-point Likert scale with higher values representing more frequent use of a leadership behavior. The LPI consists of 30 statements, six for each leadership action/behavior. Both self and observer forms are available and subject to the same psychometric analyses. Participating individuals first complete a self (leader) form and then request five to 10 individuals who interact with that person to complete the observer form. The LPI takes 10 minutes to complete and may be scored by hand or computer

Resumen
Urban agriculture is recently being recognized as a distinctive urban land use contributing to greenspaces and food security. The land inventory forms the critical first step in identifying sites for urban agriculture. The authors' analysis greatly expands on prior land inventory strategies, first analyzing land cover to identify all open areas available for siting urban agriculture. Then in GIS, the authors completed a land use suitability analysis, and finally a demographic analysis to assess potential sites for contribution to food security of lower income populations. Results show that Roanoke includes 2,312 hectares suitable for schoolyard gardens, urban farms, community gardens, orchards, and home gardens, of which 189.4 hectares are found in neighborhoods with extremely high rates of poverty. The authors' inventory strategy can be implemented elsewhere without special data or software. A detailed inventory offers opportunities for long-range planning, and broadening participation of stakeholders.

Resumen
Engineering Change Management (ECM) is an important component of PLM. ECM modules in current PLM solutions conform to the industry-standard CMII closed-loop change model. They provide customised forms and pre-defined workflows for creating and processing change requests, change orders, etc. Evaluating the effects of the proposed Engineering Change on manufacturing processes, BOM, lead times, inventory, etc., usually form tasks in this generic workflow. However, each change has different downstream effects, which themselves lead to further changes that may not be evident. Identifying these impacts requires considerable experience and expertise. This paper addresses the need for automated tools to assist this process. The approach involves dynamic creation of workflow tasks for evaluating cascaded effects of any change using a predefined industry specific knowledge base. The process is further enhanced by prioritising the evaluation of effects based on experience generated by past engineering changes.

Resumen
"Entrepreneurs, as the most active social group sensitive to public mood, perhaps feel the changes in the time of life in a digital society (time pressure illusion) most of all. On the other hand, the very internal temporal organization of a person involved in entrepreneurial activity can determine the characteristics of his or her mind and behavior in the economic sphere. The aim of the study is to reveal the impact of the psychological time of the representatives of small businesses on their economic minds. The study involves 109 representatives of small businesses in various fields (wholesale and retail trade, education, tourism, consulting, production, etc.), registered in the Chelyabinsk region and operating in the Russian Federation (mean age 34.9, 42% male). The respondents completed electronic forms of Inventory of Time Value as an Economic Resource (Usunier), Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory, Attitudes towards Time (Nuttin), and Inventory of Polychronic Values (Bluedorn). To diagnose the features of the economic mind of entrepreneurs, the Economic Attitudes Questionnaire (Deyneka & Zabelina, 2018) was used. Regression analysis showed that certain components of psychological time (positive attitude to the past, present and future, the value of time as an economic resource) determine the formation of constructive economic attitudes of small business owners, namely the value of independent economic achievements, willingness to invest, unwillingness to sacrifice vocation and health for money, financial optimism. Thus, the lack of fixation on past failures, a positive attitude towards the present and the future, the ability to transfer time into money create a psychological foundation for the formation of entrepreneurs' attitudes in economic life. The results can be used in the consulting of the future entrepreneurs."

Resumen
The waves of dynamics for 1970-2020 are revealed. by categories of land cadastre in the Volzhsky region of the RME. The first two terms out of eight forms Weibull's law, showing a decrease of 3292 hectares in the area according to Mandelbrot's law. Since 1970, the decline has been 3.60%. For 50 years, there have been two leaps in the reduction of the total area. After the first jump, 20 years have passed from 1978 to 1998, and after the second jump - 21 years from 1999 to 2020. For agricultural lands, the trend shows a steady decrease in area. This trend is noticeable for the country's municipalities. The first component of exponential growth reflects the desire to expand the habitat. And the second term, according to the law of the power function, gives the counteraction of nature to people. This fact shows that there is no ecological balance between agriculture and nature. In territorial planning and forecasting in the conditions of the Russian Federation, arrays of tabular data are urgently needed for all municipalities of the country since 1970. Agricultural lands have especially strong dynamics in 18 components in the form of fluctuations. In Finland, an ecological balance has long been formed, even at the farm level. In Russia, in the legalized minimum territorial unit (municipality) in the total area, strong fluctuations have occurred. A sharp surge in the land fund of the Volzhsky region occurred during the socio-economic crisis from 992 to 2005. This proves the lack of awareness of decision-makers in land policy. Next, you need a conscious behavior in the distribution of the land fund of municipalities of the Russian Federation by categories and types of land.

Resumen
Abstract A mathematical model was used to predict radionuclide release from bitumen and glass waste forms over extended time periods. To calculate some model parameters, we used experimental data derived from 12yr field tests with six borosilicate waste glass blocks (each ∼30 kg in weight) and a bitumen block (310 kg), containing real intermediate-level NPP operational waste (NaNO3, 86 wt.% of a dry salt content; 137Cs, 82% of the radioactive inventory). Specific radioactivities of the glass material containing 35 wt.% waste oxides were βtot(90Sr+90Y), 3.74×106 Bq/kg, and αtot(239Pu), 1.3×104Bq/kg. The bitumen block with ∼31 wt.% salt content and βtot(90Sr+90Y), 4.0·106 Bq/kg, and αtot(239Pu), 3.0×103 Bq/kg was manufactured on base of a hard bitumen BN-IV. Tests with the waste forms were performed under saturated conditions of an experimental near-surface repository with a free access of groundwater to the waste blocks through a covering of host loamy soil and backfill of coarse sand. The way used to quantify the amount of leached radioactivity was to measure the volume and radioactivity concentrations of contacting groundwater. In the model, radionuclide release from the waste glass is assumed to be controlled by the processes of diffusion limited ion exchange and glass network dissolution. The mechanism of radionuclide release from the bitumen matrix is believed to remain the same throughout the long-term storage period, except for the initial stage when an enhanced leaching from the surface layer occurs. This long-term release is assumed to be controlled by diffusion of radionuclides through the bitumen matrix. So, identical formulae were applied to calculate the values of leached radioactivity fractions for two waste forms. Radioactivity release curves were plotted for field data and calculation results. For both waste forms, there was good agreement between the modelled and available experimental data. According to the modelling results, fmax = 2.3×10−3% of the initial radioactivity will release from the waste glass into the environment within a proposed institutional control period of 300 years under conditions of the near-surface repository and in the absence of additional engineered barriers. For the bitumen block and the same 300-yr period, the total (maximum) leached radioactivity fraction will be fmax = 4.2×10−3%. The main result of the modelling and experimental studies concerning the leaching behaviour of the bituminised and vitrified waste materials is that the fractional radioactivity release for two waste forms is on the same order of magnitude. Numerical release values per a unit of a surface area to volume ratio are also rather close for two waste forms (exposed surface area to volume ratio for the bitumen block is 2 to 4 times greater then for the glass).

Resumen
Low- and intermediate-level radioactive waste was emplaced in the Asse salt mine. Application of backfill materials to provide mechanical stability, plugging of openings and chemical buffering is discussed for closure of the mine. If no remedial action is carried out in the emplacement rooms, degradation of the organic matter cannot be excluded which may result in acidification of the geochemical environment or actinides may be complexed by HCO3− / CO32−. Selection of backfill materials is based on geochemical modeling taking into account the corrosion of the cemented LLW / ILW and degradation of organic waste components. In the present study the evolving geochemical milieu and respective solubilities of Am, Np, Pu, U, Tc, Sr, Cs and I were modeled. The solubilities and the radionuclide inventory define the geochemical source term for each emplacement room. Laboratory experiments were undertaken to verify the modeling predictions. The modeling leads to the conclusion that Portland cement, a Mg(OH)2-based material and crushed salt should be used in different combinations as backfill materials. According to the modeling predictions, the Mg(OH)2-based backfill material provides a long-term stable geochemical environment and scavenges CO2 by formation of (Ca,Mg)-carbonates. The source term calculations were carried out for the presence of the backfill material in the emplacement rooms. The inventory of Pu and U in the waste is sufficient to allow these actinides to reach solubility limits. Maximum concentrations of the other radionuclides are limited by their inventories, which are too low to reach solubility limits. Regarding corrosion of cemented waste forms and the backfill material in MgCl2 rich brines, experimental data and calculated results agree well. Experimental results demonstrate the ability of the Mg(OH)2-based material to buffer the pH and to limit the HCO3− / CO32− concentration in the brines. Based on both the modeling and the experimental results, it is highly recommended to apply the Mg(OH)2-based backfill material in the Asse salt mine.

Resumen
According to current forecasts, nuclear power plant construction and nuclear-generated electricity production is projected to increase in the next half-century. This is likely due to the fact that nuclear energy is an ‘environmental alternative’ to fossil fuel plants that emit greenhouse gases (GHG). Nuclear power also has a much higher energy density output than other alternative energy sources such as solar, wind, and biomass energies. There is also growing consensus that processing of low- and high-level waste, LLW and HLW respectively, is a political issue rather than a technical challenge. Prudent implementation of a closed fuel cycle not only curbs build-up of GHGs, but can equally mitigate the need to store nuclear used fuel. The Global Nuclear Energy Partnership (GNEP) is promoting gradual integration of fuel reprocessing, and deployment of fast reactors (FRs) into the global fleet for long-term uranium resource usage. The use of mixed oxide (MOX) fuel burning Light Water Reactors (LWR) has also been suggested by fuel cycle researchers. This study concentrated on modeling the construction and decommissioning rates of six major facilities comprising the nuclear fuel cycle, as follows: (1) current LWRs decommissioned at 60-years service life, (2) new LWRs burning MOX fuel, (3) new (Gen’ III+) LWRs to replace units and/or be added to the fleet, (4) new FRs to be added to the fleet, (5) new reprocessing and MOX fuel fabrication facilities and (6) new LWR fuel fabrication facilities. Our initial work [1] focused on modeling the construction and decommissioning rates of reactors to be deployed. This is being followed with a ‘mass flow model’, starting from uranium ore and following it to spent forms. The visual dynamic modeling program Vensim was used to create a system of equations and variables to track the mass flows from enrichment, fabrication, burn-up, and the back-end of the fuel cycle. Sensible construction and deployment rates were benchmarked against recent reports and then plausible scenarios considered parametrically. The timeline starts in 2007 and extends in a preliminary model to 2057; a further mass flow model scenario continues until 2107. The scenarios considered provide estimates of the uranium ore requirements, quantities of LLW and HLW production, and waste storage volume needs. The results of this study suggest the number of reprocessing facilities necessary to stabilize and/or reduce recently reported levels of spent fuel inventory. Preliminary results indicate that the entire national spent fuel inventory produced over the next ∼50 years can be reprocessed by a reprocessing plant construction rate of less than 0.07 plants/year (small capacity) or less than 0.05 plants /year (large capacity). Any larger construction rate could reduce the spent fuel inventory destined for storage. These and additional results will be presented.

Resumen
The image established by an urban area can have a profound effect upon the future well being of that area. Economic development and other forms of growth can be encouraged or discouraged by the image of an area. In addition, the way the image is projected is of major importance in how the image is perceived by others. It is the purpose of this paper to describe a process by which the image of an area can be defined and a comprehensive graphics system can be designed to project that image. Techniques are presented for encouraging citizen participation in the definition process. Professional survey and inventory procedures used to study the image of an urban area are described. Methods to establish the extent of the graphics system, categories of data collection, a discussion of sign types, as well as the hierarchy of geographical space and the development of the comprehensive graphics design matrix are presented. The application of comprehensive graphics systems and their support of the image of particular urban areas are compared and discussed through the presentation of examples from Europe and Asia, as well as a discussion of a system now being developed with both directional signage and promotional materials for a historical county and its cities in Kansas.

Resumen
Museums as cultural institutions certainly reflect the sociocultural transformations of the new era and are changing with the new reality. Except for that, a museum is, by definition, an institution of memory, a keeper of history, it is based on adoption: the collection, successiveness and actualisation of past experience. What is perceived as innovation by contemporary society may have historical roots and be an actualisation of innovations of a bygone era. Modern museum development recalls a global project undertaken by Russian avant-garde artists in the early 20th century, and implying the institutional modernisation of museums. This study addresses a project taken on by avant-garde artists for the modernisation of museums in the context of general cultural construction, in cooperation with the Soviet Government. The research methodology is based on a conjunction of a historical study and culturological analysis, primarily the concept of the institutional approach. The study consisted in looking through archival documents: The Fund of the People’s Commissariat for Education and its departments (declarations, provisions, resolutions, decrees, minutes of meetings, correspondence, protocols and statements of estimates, inventory books of the State Museum Fund etc.), personal funds of artists and cultural figures, their theoretical works, articles, correspondence. A holistic inter-disciplinary approach combining historical and culturological analysis with prospects for contemporary sociocultural development and the role of museums is seen as a promising novelty of the research. Russian avantgardism as an artistic and sociocultural phenomenon has remained of great interest for a century. Different studies shed light only on separate aspects of this vast topic in different scientific contexts. The examination of the museum project by avant-garde artists under this study allows us to conclude that they were the first to undertake the institutional modernisation of museums by considering them in the focus of new demands of time and society, innovative programmes as forms of personal initiatives and experiments expressed in the broad public space of artistic culture.

Resumen
Abstract The amount of mobile radionuclides is controlled by the geochemical isolation potential of the repository. Many investigations are available in order to determine the maximal radionuclide concentrations released from different waste forms of specific disposal strategies for disposal in rock salt formations. These investigations result in reaction (dissolution) rates, maximum concentrations, and sorption coefficients. The experimental data have to be applied to various disposal strategies. The case studies presented in this communication cover the selection, the volumes, and the composition of backfill materials used as sorbents for radionuclides. As an example, for brown coal fly ash (BFA) - Q-brine systems, sorption coefficients were measured as well as solublilities of several actinides and other long-lived radionuclides. Dissolved CO32− was buffered to negligible concentration by the presence of high amount of Mg in solution. In the sorption experiments Pu, Th, Np, and U concentrations close or below detection limit were obtained. Concentrations in the same ranges are computed by means of geochemical modeling, if precipitation of “simple” tetravalent hydroxides (An(OH)4(am) phases) is assumed. In the case of U in a Portland cement dominated geochemical environment, measured U(VI) concentration corresponds to the solubility of hexavalent solids, such as Na2U2O7. A similar behavior of U was observed in high-level waste glass experiments. Experiments investigating sorption behavior of corroded cement showed that in the case of application of a sufficient large inventory of actinides, measured concentrations were found to be independent of the inventory. In this case, measured concentrations were controlled by solid phases. If smaller actinide inventories were applied, resulting concentrations were found to be below concentrations constrained by well-known solids. Here, a more or less pronounced sorption of the radioactive elements was observed. The radionuclide concentrations determined in the BFA “sorption” experiments are found to be close to the detection limits. For this reason, it is not possible to extrapolate the radionuclide behavior to lower concentrations. We cannot distinguish, if sorption or precipitation controls measured radionuclide concentrations. However, in the presence of reducing materials such as BFA, solubilities of tetravalent actinides and of Tc(IV) represent a realistic estimation of the maximal element concentrations needed in performance assessment studies. The concentrations of these redox sensitive elements are controlled by precipitation of An(OH)4(am) phases for disposal concepts considered in German salt formations. Under this assumption, quantities such as solid-solution ratios used in (sorption) experiments do not affect the mobilization of the radionuclides. Additional conclusions can be drawn from comparison of the findings for the redox sensitive elements in the BFA / portland cement brine systems: We can assume that expected actinide and technetium concentrations in the near-field of radioactive wastes are affected by the total inventory of radionuclides in the disposal room. Sorption will be relevant, if the total dissolved radionuclide concentration remains below the maximal solubility defined by the solid radionuclide phase which is stable in the geochemical environment. In contrast to the portland cement system, the relevant radionuclide phase are most probably tetravalent hydroxides in the BFA systems. These conclusions are of high importance to performance assessment for the radioactive waste repository systems, because they restrict the applicability of sorption models in the near field of the waste.

The Fort Huachuca Environmental and Natural Resources Division (ENRD) tasked ERDC-CERL to compile a history of the development of Fort Huachuca for use in evaluating existing facilities and how they fit within the larger, overarching history of the fort. Fort Huachuca desires a comprehensive history of the fort for use in better understanding how its various facilities integrate into the overall history and development of the fort and its existing National Historic Landmark (NHL) and proposed existing evaluated, eligible, and listed National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) properties and districts. This comprehensive history will help ENRD in making determinations on how to address future National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) nominations and/or recommendations for adding new historic districts or expanding the existing historic district. ERDC-CERL compiled content from 18 existing historic contexts, building inventory and cultural re-sources reports, NRHP nomination and registration forms, and Historic American Buildings Survey (HABS) forms previously completed for the ENRD, and used these resources to compile the current history.

Resumen
The U.S. Congress codified the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 (NHPA) mostly through the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP), which requires federal agencies to address their cultural resources. Section 110 of the NHPA requires federal agencies to inventory and evaluate their cultural resources, and Section 106 requires them to determine the effect of federal undertakings on those potentially eligible for the NRHP. This report provides a World War II development history and analysis of 786 buildings, and determinations of eligibility for those buildings, on Fort McCoy, Wisconsin. Evaluation of the WWII buildings and landscape concluded that there are too few buildings with integrity to form a cohesive historic district. While the circulation patterns and roads are still intact, the buildings with integrity are scattered throughout the cantonment affecting the historic character of the landscape. Only Building 100 (post headquarters), Building 656 (dental clinic), and Building 550 (fire station) are ELIGIBLE for listing on the NRHP at the national level under Criterion A for their association with World War II temporary building construction (1942-1946) and under Criterion C for their design, construction, and technological innovation.

Resumen
Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial celebrates the lives of the Lincoln family including the final resting place of Abraham’s mother, Nancy Hanks Lincoln. Lincoln’s childhood in Indiana was a formative time in the life our 16th president. When the Lincoln family arrived in Indiana, the property was covered in the oak-hickory forest type. They cleared land to create their homestead and farm. Later, designers of the memorial felt that it was important to restore woodlands to the site. The woodlands would help visitors visualize the challenges the Lincoln family faced in establishing and maintaining their homestead. Some stands of woodland may have remained, but significant restoration efforts included extensive tree planting. The Heartland Inventory and Monitoring Network began monitoring the woodland in 2011 with repeat visits every four years. These monitoring efforts provide a window into the composition and structure of the wood-lands. We measure both overstory trees and the ground flora within four permanently located plots. At these permanent plots, we record each species, foliar cover estimates of ground flora, diameter at breast height of midstory and overstory trees, and tree regeneration frequency (tree seedlings and saplings). The forest species composition was relatively consistent over the three monitoring events. Climatic conditions measured by the Palmer Drought Severity Index indicated mild to wet conditions over the monitoring record. Canopy closure continued to indicate a forest structure with a closed canopy. Large trees (>45 cm DBH) comprised the greatest amount of tree basal area. Sugar maple was observed to have the greatest basal area and density of the 23 tree species observed. The oaks characteristic of the early woodlands were present, but less dominant. Although one hickory species was present, it was in very low abundance. Of the 17 tree species recorded in the regeneration layer, three species were most abundant through time: sugar maple (Acer saccharum), red bud (Cercis canadensis), and ash (Fraxinus sp.). Ash recruitment seemed to increase over prior years and maple saplings transitioned to larger size classes. Ground flora diversity was similar through time, but alpha and gamma diversity were slightly greater in 2019. Percent cover by plant guild varied through time with native woody plants and forbs having the greatest abundance. Nonnative plants were also an important part of the ground flora composition. Common periwinkle (Vinca minor) and Japanese honeysuckle (Lonicera japonica) continued to be the most abundant nonnative species, but these two species were less abundant in 2019 than 2011. Unvegetated ground cover was high (mean = 95%) and increased by 17% since 2011. Bare ground increased from less than 1% in 2011 to 9% in 2019, but other ground cover elements were similar to prior years. In 2019, we quantified observer error by double sampling two plots within three of the monitoring sites. We found total pseudoturnover to be about 29% (i.e., 29% of the species records differed between observers due to observer error). This 29% pseudoturnover rate was almost 50% greater than our goal of 20% pseudoturnover. The majority of the error was attributed to observers overlooking species. Plot frame relocation error likely contributed as well but we were unable to separate it from overlooking error with our design.
