AbstractWe consider a software vendor first selling a monopoly platform and then an application running on this platform. He may face competition by an entrant in the applications market. The platform monopolist can benefit from competition for three reasons. First, his profits from the platform increase. Second, competition serves as a credible commitment to lower prices for applications. Third, higher expected product variety may lead to higher demand for his application. Results carry over to non-software platforms and, partially, to upstream and downstream firms. The model also explains why Microsoft Office is priced significantly higher than Microsoft’s operating system.

The world has witnessed major changes in delivery modes in education due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Being no exception, Morocco declared a full lockdown in March 2020, and this resulted in the use of online platforms to cope with the new situation. The platform that was adopted by the Moroccan Ministry of Education was Microsoft Teams (MT). Hence, the current paper investigated Moroccan high school EFL teachers’ use of the platform accounting for their age, gender, anxiety, and attitudes towards the platform. For this aim, a questionnaire adapted from Computer Anxiety Rating Scale (CARS) by Heinssen et al. (1987) was distributed to 171 EFL teachers working in different public high schools belonging to the academy of Casablanca/Settat. Results revealed that the participants’ attitudes towards the usability of the platform were negatively associated with their years of experience, and their general anxiety and power and control of the platform negatively affected the time they spent on the platform. The findings imply that anxiety should be taken into consideration as an integral component in further implementation of technology in education.

Distance learning has had a huge impact on the educational process of universities and schools. The main platform through which the e-learning process at Moscow Aviation Institute (National Research University) (MAI) is carried out is LMS MAI Moodle. It should be noted that on the basis of this platform, a website with courses lms.mai.ru was created. The second in popularity and frequency of use is Microsoft Teams platform (MT). It is worth noting that thanks to the platforms for distance learning, the educational process was not only not disrupted or stopped, but was also supplemented with such advantages as autonomy and flexibility in acquiring knowledge. In connection with the coronavirus pandemic, on March 17, 2020, MAI completely switched to distance learning. At the moment, the epidemiological situation in Russia is improving and universities are again conducting face-to-face classroom studies. But what was happening with two platforms mentioned above after the end of the quarantine? Students and teachers of MAI say that the use of platforms has decreased, but classes are still held in this format. We discussed the prospects for further use of MT and LMS MAI in this article.

Integration has always been an important and tricky task for IT-businesses. There are several products available for solving integration issues, one of them is the long developed platform BizTalk from Microsoft. As cloud computing has grown in recent years, Microsoft has been putting more focus towards the cloud. With their cloud, named Azure, expanding a new integration platform have been released, the iPaaS (integration Platform as a Service) Logic Apps. This report aims to evaluate the integration platforms Logic Apps and BizTalk with the purpose of finding out if the new Logic Apps can replace the long developed BizTalk. The evaluation is performed by implementing an application in both platforms, then evaluating selected parameters by giving each a score to concretize our assessment on quantify whether Logic Apps can replace BizTalk.

Windows Azure Platform is product of the Microsoft company aimed to host web applications. With this product, Microsoft is reacting on the new trend in IT -- cloud computing. This diploma thesis deals with all the aspects of developing and running PHP applications on Windows Azure Platform. Thesis is divided into two parts -- theoretical and practical. In the theoretical part, Windows Azure Platform is described in detail. The description consists of it's main parts, position in the world of cloud computing, price and main competitors. In the practical part, migration of school PHP application developed during 4IT445 course from LAMP platform to Windows Azure Platform is described. Except the migration itself, the benefits of new platform to application are described. In the thesis conclusion, development and running applications on both platforms is compared. The target of the thesis is to write first complete Czech text about running PHP applications on Windows Azure Platform and to help PHP developers to chose which way to go.

A common challenge for software consulting companies is recruiting the right people. In the software industry, the recruitment process usually involves several steps before a contract is signed; a single job interviewis rarely enough. Thus, the interview tends to involve some test to make sure that the job applicant is qualified. The testing procedure is usually part of the interview or conducted at the same occasion. Interviewing applicants who are not qualified for the position is a waste of time. This waste can be minimized by only interviewing qualified applicants. In the software industry, qualifications are commonly asserted by letting an applicant solve programming problems. This process can be automated using an Automatic Grader. Such systems already exist on some universities today and are used extensively invarious programming courses and also in programming contests.This thesis explains how such a system can be built using only Microsoft.NET Framework while still supporting multiple languages. The thesis also evaluates this system with regard to execution speed and memory consumption in an attempt to find a scaling factor between the different programming languages since the same implementation of a specific algorithm in different languages should be graded equally. The supported languages are C#, Java and Python. Java support is enabled through the use of a Java byte code to Common Intermediate Language(.NET bytecode) compiler called IKVM. Python is supported through the use of Iron Python.The results showed that C# and Java performed almost equally interms of execution speed and memory usage, with Java being slightly behind. As a compensation for Javas slower execution speed a scaling factor was calculated. The average of this scaling factor was 1.29.Python had greater performance and memory issues than the other twoand no scaling factor could be obtained for this language using the data present in this thesis. Future work involves implementing additional language support and improving the system with usability in mind.

Cyber-attack simulation is a suitable method used for assessing the security ofnetwork systems. An attack simulation advances step-wise from a certain systementry-point to explore the attack paths that lead to dierent weaknesses inthe model. Each step is analyzed, and the time to compromise is calculated.Attack simulations are primarily based on attack graphs. The graphs areemployed to model attack steps where nodes can represent assets in the system,and edges can represent the attack steps. To reduce the computational cost associatedwith building an attack graph for each specic system, domain-specicattack languages, or DSL for short, are used.The nal product of this thesis work is azureLang, a probabilistic modelingand simulation language for modeling Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure.AzureLang is a DSL which denes a generic attack logic for MicrosoftAzure systems. Using azureLang, system administrators can easily instantiatespecic-system scenarios which emulate their Microsoft Azure cloud system infrastructure.After creating the model, attack simulation can be run to assessthe security of the model.
Cyberattacksimulering är en lämplig metod som används för att bedöma säkerhetenhos nätverkssystem. En angrepsimulering går stegvis från ett visst systeminmatningspunkt för att utforska angreppsbanorna som leder till olika svagheter i modellen. Varje steg analyseras och tiden för kompromettera beräknas.Attack-simuleringar baseras huvudsakligen på attackgrafer. Graferna används för att modellera angreppssteg där noder kan representera tillgångar i systemet, och kanterna kan representera attackenstegen. För att minska kostnaden för att skapa attackgrafer för varje specifikt system används domänspecifika språk eller DSL förkortat.Den slutliga produkten av detta examensarbete är azureLang, ett probabilistisk hotmodelleringsoch attacksimuleringsspråk för analys av Microsoft Azure Cloud Infrastructure. AzureLang är en DSL som definierar en generisk attacklogik för Microsoft Azure-system. Med hjälp av azureLang kan systemadministratörer enkelt ordna specifika systemscenarier som efterliknar deras Microsoft Azure cloudsystem infrastruktur. Efter att ha skapat modellen kan attack simu-lering köras för att bedöma modellens säkerhet.

This thesis deals with the analysis and design of business intelligence solution for the needs of reporting for Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 platform. Solution includes development guidelines for possible development in future. In the first part of the thesis there is introduced ERP system MS Dynamics AX 2012 which serves as a data source for reports. The following sections analyze the data sources and the need for enterprise reporting. Significant part of thesis is the analysis and design of individual basic dimensions and indicators together with the proposal of data flows and architecture solution. In chapters 6-9 are described best practices for creating data warehouse through all the layers of development. In chapter 10 are unified guidelines for the development of different parts of solution such as dimensional OLAP cubes for case of additional customer requirements.

This qualitative study is of the interpretivist nature and it aims to examine how knowledge workers perceive their interaction with a knowledge management system when used for knowledge sharing purposes. The purpose is to offer answers to two research questions: How do knowledge workers perceive their interaction with knowledge management technology in relation to knowledge sharing? What are the benefits and challenges that knowledge workers experience in relation to knowledge managing and sharing when using a KMS system? The data was collected by applying qualitative research methods and by conducting five interviews with participants of an IT organization that has its head office in Sweden, but additional offices in other geographical locations. To be able to study the participants´ perception and the benefits of the use on both local and international levels, the interviewees were chosen from different sites in which their organization was operating. To provide the answers to these questions and to establish the foundation of this research, an extensive literature review on the problem area was carried out, and a theoretical framework has been employed to study the different aspects of this model in the context of knowledge management systems in relation to knowledge sharing among knowledge workers. As a result, additional derived attributes came from the findings and it is shown that users tend to relate knowledge quality with the completeness, frequency of update, and validity of the knowledge content that they are exposed to in the KMS. Similarly, they relate KMS quality to administrability and maintenance easiness, whereas organizational service providing quality in relation to knowledge sharing is more related to the aspects of organizational commitment and reliability. Moreover, the findings show that participants relate their intention to use the KMS to the attributes of convenience and practicality, and the levels of user satisfaction were in this case mainly related to the user´s perception of usefulness. Lastly, the perception of the benefits and reciprocal value-creating for both the organization and the individual was examined and the findings show that the users tend to relate these to the aspect of relevance, or in other words that the benefits are only perceived as useful by the user if they are identifiable, respectively the user being aware of the benefits and perceiving them as relevant.

Cloud computing has been given a great deal of attention during recent years. Almost all the technology market leaders and leading hosting service providers (like IBM, Microsoft and Verizon) have entered into the Cloud market as Cloud Providers. Cloud computing promises to provide highly available, secure, low cost, agile and highly scalable solution to the consumers. Scania is a global company and one of the world’s leading heavy vehicle manufacturers with 35,000+ employees. All the large organizations such as Scania, aim to constantly update themselves with the latest technology in order to meet their business requirements but, these organizations must always be convinced that there is a strong reason(s) to implement new technology. This research provides the method and criteria in relation to initiating Cloud computing. A number of Scania’s specific business requirements that it is possible to map to the Cloud are addressed in this thesis. The methodology of research is split in two parts. Firstly, the identification of business cases at Scania and their requirements with the Cloud and Secondly, the evaluation and comparison of the functionalities and capabilities of different vendors. The accumulated data is then compared and suitable vendors, according to those business requirements are suggested. This thesis also shares the experience of moving on premise applications to the Cloud. These are Scania specific applications which are currently being hosted in-house. The research also addresses the possibilities of portability between the Cloud providers. Although there is no standardization in relation to Cloud computing, some initiatives such as OpenStack are available and its current position and some application and data migration tools are also discussed. The thesis concludes with a general discussion, recommendations in relation to adapting Cloud computing and selecting the Cloud provider. This recommendation applies to every organization including Scania.

Background Using Microsoft Platforms as a base for creating a software solution with a web front-end, the motives and research behind the technology was explored. This study identified functionalities that are split across existing media-related applications where neither has all to develop and evaluate a novel solution with useful features for sorting and indexing media. Aim Produce a solution for the development of an application with available technology, provide research and motives for chosen implementation strategies, and an evaluation of the solution. Method Design and creation was used as a strategy for the purpose of developing and evaluating a software solution. A literature review was used as data collection method, serving as motive and research behind the development of a software solution. An evaluation on accessibility, functionality and performance was chosen to estimate the worth of the proposed solution, and to be compared with Kodi and Squeezebox. Results The proposed solution suffered in performance and accessibility. In terms of functionality, it has the edge by being cloud-hosted,having offline support and supporting multiple media types. Kodi excelled in supporting more media types and formats, with an accessibility score close to Zavorite. Squeezebox excelled in performance. Both Squeezebox and Kodi has the edge in being able to playback media, a feature Zavorite does not offer. Conclusions Zavorite is a prototype evaluated alongside product-ready applications. The areas where Zavorite is lacking compared to Kodi or Squeezebox, such as performance is made up for due to being a PWA. For accessibility, the evaluation showed what should be improved for subsequent prototypes. For functionality, despite the prototype only showcasing two media types, there is the possibility of adding more with an additional row in a database table. Zavorite can be considered a combination of Kodi and Squeezebox, with user experience improvements as a PWA, limited to sorting and indexing media.

This thesis is focused on research of available resources about applicable methods and approaches of implementation of Business Intelligence in sales department of mid-size local company focused on information technologies. The solution is aimed on controlling and performance measurement. Local specifics and company culture of innovation and creativeness are considered during the whole work. The next part of the work is analysis of the company environment and appropriable process of implementation matching current maturity level of company. The goal is to define appropriable set of indicators for performance measurement of sales representatives in order to reflect the reality and allow the relative comparison of individuals. This solution is applied in specific company and as a result there are identified issues of this proposal and suggested recommendations for the future modifications. The work is based on research of available resources and identification of the best practices methods of design and implementation of this system. The next part contains detail analysis of the company, application of conclusion of the theoretical part and suggestion for optimal process of successful adaptation. As a result the structure of metrics has been built and it was verified that the detail analysis is required for relevant definition of the scope of the project, identification of risks and preparing the real schedule. It has been verified, that implementation of performance measurement system requires complex changes in company culture and close coordination to other triggered changes in workflow and quality of recorded data in information systems.

Tidigare forskning har påvisat brister i olika former av autentiseringsprocesser som leder till autentiseringsattacker. Målet med vår studie är att presentera ett antal riktlinjer som företag och privatpersoner kan följa för att minimera risken för autentiseringsattacker. Metoderna som användes för att komma fram till dessa riktlinjer var kvalitativa där en praktisk observationsstudie, en litteraturstudie samt en enkätundersökning låg till grund för vår insamlade data. Resultatet av studien pekar på att Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services och Microsoft Azure alla har en stark autentiseringsprocess i jämförelse med kritik från tidigare forskning. Enkätundersökningen visade dessutom att olika former av alternativ autentisering, såsom Two Factor Authentication (2FA) och Multi Factor Authentication (MFA), rekommenderas för ett starkt försvar mot autentiseringsattacker.Uppsatsens resultat pekar även på att användarens egenansvar i autentiseringsprocessen är av stor vikt för att minimera risken för autentiseringsattacker. Säkra lösenord bör konstrueras och frekvent bytas ut. Även alternativ autentisering och begränsning av användarens tillgång till känslig information bör tillämpas.
Previous research has shown deficiencies in various forms of authentication processes that lead to authentication attacks. The goal of our study is to present a number of guidelines that businesses and individuals can follow to minimize the risk of authentication attacks. The methods used to reach these guidelines were qualitative. They consisted of a practical observational study, a literature review and a survey, which formed the basis of our collected data. The results of the study indicate that Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure all have a strong authentication process in comparison with the criticism of previous research. The survey also showed that different forms of authentication methods, such as the Two Factor Authentication (2FA) and Multi Factor Authentication (MFA), are recommended for a strong defense against authentication attacks.The thesis’ results also points to the user’s own responsibility in the authentication process are essential to minimize the risk of authentication attacks. Secure passwords should be designed and frequently replaced. Alternative authentication and restricted access to sensitive information for the user should also be applied.

Resumen
Mechanical assembly activities involve multiple factors including humans, mechanical parts, tools and assembly environments. In order to simulate assembly processes by computers for educational purposes, all these factors should be considered. Virtual reality (VR) technology, which aims to integrate natural human motion into real-world scenarios, provides an ideal simulation medium. Novel VR devices such as 3D glasses, motion-tracking gloves, haptic sensors, etc. are able to fulfill fundamental assembly simulation needs. However, most of these implementations focus on assembly simulations for computer-aided design, which are geared toward professionals rather than students, thus leading to complicated assembly procedures not suitable for students. Furthermore, the costs of these novel VR devices and specifically designed VR platforms represent an untenable financial burden for most educational institutions. In this paper, a virtual platform for mechanical assembly education based on the Microsoft Kinect sensor and Garry’s Mod (GMod) is presented. With the help of the Kinect’s body tracking function and voice recognition technology in conjunction with the graphics and physics simulation capabilities of GMod, a low-cost VR platform that enables educators to author their own assembly simulations was implemented. This platform utilizes the Kinect as the sole input device. Students can use voice commands to navigate their avatars inside of a GMod powered virtual laboratory as well as use their body’s motions to integrate pre-defined mechanical parts into assemblies. Under this platform, assembly procedures involving the picking, placing and attaching of parts can be performed collaboratively by multiple users. In addition, the platform allows collaborative learning without the need for the learners to be co-located. A pilot study for this platform showed that, with the instructor’s assistance, mechanical engineering undergraduate students are able to complete basic assembly operations.

Resumen
This paper is an overview of using data visualization tools to provide a better insight into a large amount of data and represent the data in a visualized form. The used data is related to electric vehicles (EV) usage in three different states in the USA, which are California, New York, and Washington. The data was collected from reliable resources to assure the reliability and accuracy of the results, then compiled as a Microsoft Excel workbook, which was then used as a data recourse in Microsoft Power BI. By visualizing the data we will end up with rich visuals which will clarify the data for the end-user. After analyzing the data, a clear vision created and recommendations have been suggested.
