Sexual purity before marriage in Corinth in the first century BC A socio-historical overview on the ethical codes within Judaism, Hellenism, and early Christianity shows that very definite codes were in place. Sexual purity within Judaism was based on two aspects, namely a property code and an ethical code. Early Christianity inherited its sexual ethics from Judaism and has reinterpreted it in the light of the Gospel. The moral status of Corinth was to a great extent the outcome of its religious and social history. The Christian community existed within these circumstances, but experienced pro

Religion has always exerted a significant influence on the morals, habits, and behavior of people worldwide, and it continues to do so today. This influence stems from various factors. Firstly, ancient moral norms are embedded in religious teachings. Secondly, it reinforces the behavioral rules of different social groups. Finally, religious precepts encompass numerous instructions and prohibitions of a cultural and household nature, serving as a foundation in the realm of human business relations. Georgian writer Maka Jokhadze often uses biblical allusions, symbols, and paradigms to depict both enduring values and the most pressing problems of our time. In her works, allusions and intertextual echoes from the books of the Old and New Testaments, as well as the thoughts of famous Christian theologians, are sometimes overt and sometimes expressed through subtle artistic forms. Her new novel "The Thorns of Iscariot" can be called an apocryphal work, as the writer both follows gospel stories and varies them, enriching the narrative with imaginary, invented tales. In Shintoism, the indigenous religion of Japan, the term kami, is simply used for anything possessing supernatural power or force. However, the term is more complex than that, which is identified with belief in God. In this regard, “Shinto gods” are broadly called kami. For this reason, many researchers defined this belief as polytheist, pantheist, animist, shamanist so forth. In this work, I argue that the Alexandiran position on feticide found in Hellenistic Judaism and appropriated by patristic, medieval and reformed theologians is defensible in the 21st Century. I formulate an argument from the Alexandrian position as it appears in several representative Christian traditions. This argument contends that that: [1] killing a human being without justification violates the law of God, [2] a formed conceptus (i.e. a fetus) is a human being and [3] that in the case of feticide (at least in the majority of cases) no justification is forthcoming. I begin my discussion of the question 'Why should I be moral?' by drawing distinctions both between possible different senses of 'moral' and also between different conceptions of what morality requires. I then criticize the idea that one should be moral because it serves self-interest. Self-interest is served by one's having benevolent concern for only a fairly small number of others, but being moral involves more than this. Furthermore, having moral dispositions other than benevolence is in one's interest only if these dispositions are required by the moral code predominant in one's society.

In the past century, the scope of patentable objects has greatly expanded. Patents are now being granted on living organisms, human biological material and genes. What are the consequences of such practices for scientific research and health care? One of the fundamental philosophical questions behind this issue is the following: are we justified in patenting human genetic material? An examination of the traditional philosophical justification of intellectual property will allow us to critically explore whether or not this practice is ethically justifiable.
