The biodiversity of soil-inhabiting nematodes in Canada is incompletely known, as large areas of Canada’s landmass have not been surveyed for nematode fauna. The aim of this study is to determine the prevalence of plant parasitic nematodes in the main potatoe growing area in Ajara and to show whether altitu-dinal gradient affects nematode diversity and community structure along three contrasting altitudinal localities of Ajara: Kobuleti (10 m.a.s.l), Shuakhevi (450 m.a.s.l) and Khulo (950 -1800 m.a.s.l). Waterfowl are a very common ecological bird group including up to 30% of the species composition, and sometimes up to 40% of the total number of all birds in the ornithocomplex. Resumen

An analysis is presented for the current status of problems in plant protection from plant-parasitic nematodes using chemical nematicides. It was shown that nematicides approved for use had a relatively low hazard class for the environment and soil biodiversity.
