Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a long-lasting disorder characterized by cyclic feelings and compulsive behaviors which lead to momentary relief. One of the recognized feature in obsessive-compulsive disorder is sexual obsessions. Compulsive sexual behavior has not yet received wide consideration from researchers and clinicians. Till date, there have been dearth of formal studies of sexual behavior in OCD. In spite of the scarcity of research, many patients with sexual obsession do present for the treatment and mental health professionals in any setting are likely to come across patients with this disorder. The present study aims to affirm that sexual obsessions are prevalent clinical features in OCD that arise sex based symptoms. For that purpose, the data was composed from 11 patients, in which the symptoms were existent for more than 1 year. The data was collected in the form of history taking Structured Clinical Interview, that has been a part of case study method. It was found that the patients display an obsession with the sexual acts and feel discomfort if unable to control their urges which later affect their personal and social functioning. So this paper will focus and summarize sexual behavior in OCD with the help of case studies.

Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a distressing and often debilitating disorder characterized by obsessions, compulsions, or both that are time-consuming and cause impairment in social, occupational, or other areas of functioning. There are many published studies reporting higher risk of suicidality in OCD patients, as well as studies describing increased risk of suicidality in OCD patients with other comorbid psychiatric conditions such as major depressive disorder (MDD) and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Existing case reports on OCD with suicide as the obsessive component describe patients with long standing diagnosis of OCD with suicidal ideations or previous suicide attempts. This report describes the case of a 28-year-old male, who works as a first responder, who presented with new onset symptoms characteristic of MDD and PTSD, with no past history of OCD or suicidality who developed OCD with suicidal obsessions. Differentiating between suicidal ideation in the context of other psychiatric illnesses and suicidal obsessions in OCD is critical to ensuring accurate diagnosis and timely provision of most appropriate treatment. The combination of exposure and response prevention therapy and pharmacotherapy with sertraline and olanzapine was effective in helping the patient manage the anxiety and distress stemming from the patient’s OCD with suicidal obsession.

BACKGROUND: Coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19) is a highly contagious viral disease that affects respiratory system and other organs. It is transmitted through air or contact of contaminated surfaces. Thus, physical and social distancing, hand washing with soap, or hand sanitizer are greatly persuaded. Interestingly, this pandemic does not only affect physical health, but also mental disorder, including obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) that is marked with the presence of either obsession or persistent compulsive behavior, or in the most common form, both are present. Obsession is thought, image or desire that preoccupies someone’s mind which commonly is related to anxiety. Compulsion, in the other hand, is repetitive behavior that strongly derives individual to do so to achieve fulfillment of one’s obsession that is not considered normal on the bases of daily norm. CASE REPORT: A 26-year-old woman as a bank employee admitted of doing repetitively unreasonable hand washing and shower within approximately the past 3 months. She even washes her hands more than 10 times in an hour and takes shower more than 5 times a day. She admitted that this is her very first experience and all were started at the beginning of COVID-19 pandemic. CONCLUSION: COVID-19 pandemic also causes serious mental disorders and has become such a nightmare or worst scenario for those experiencing OCD. Physical and social distancing, hand washing with soap, or hand sanitizer are greatly.

The aim of the study is to analyze Bataille’s Story of the Eye (1928) and Buñuel’s An Andalusian Dog (1929) as accurate examples of artworks that were broadly inspired by images from subconsciousness. Both authors are particularly fascinated by the ‘eye’ which becomes an object of obsession in their output. The ocular reference is however often replaced with the image of the egg, by the process of metonymy that has its origin in Bataille’s imagination and early compulsions. As such, both eye and egg, initially being almost divine, gradually become deformed, abject and, ultimately, annihilated. The image of eye and egg, symbolically the birth of universe, becomes paradoxal in the textual layer, as it’s constantly being deformed by obsessive thoughts from the past.

This paper proposes that Mikhail Bakhtin's heteroglossia—the process of coming to know one's own language in the language of others—is evident in two of Debussy's compositions from Children's Corner, most directly in "Golliwogg's Cake-Walk" and more subtly in "Serenade for the Doll." In particular, "Serenade" collapses a number of historical horizons—some of these Wagnerian—as Debussy finds his own compositional path. Debussy's approach reflects the obsession La belle Époque had with the past, and moreover with its need to keep the past alive while fashioning a future through the blending of multiple voices.

The paper analyzes the short story “Obsession” written by Maxim Gorky in the Nizhny Novgorod period of his work, which has been given little attention in philological works. On the one hand, the author himself defined its genre as a Christmas tale; on the other hand, this work cannot be brought into line with Christmas tales and short novels by Gogol and Dostoyevsky, since in Gorky’s story, no miracle occurs. However, this small text still deserves literary scholars’ attention. The short story introduces an interesting paradox of artistic space and time: in outward appearance, the action takes place within one room, on the couch, but the hero’s internal experiences, his conflict with the alter ego carry the reader into the distant past, the Christmas days of the main character’s family, and then the imagination, vision that visited Foma Mironovich come to the fore and become a plot-forming feature. The form in which the story content is presented (obsession, dream, delusion) is typologically similar to the structure of Russian folklore tales telling about encountering the phenomena of the “other world”. The results of the study may be of interest to both literary and cultural scholars.

Cette thèse a pour but de mettre en scène le sens et l'évolution de la quête identitaire qui partirait d'une perte initiale, voir l'absence de tout (la non-vie) inaugurant alors un besoin urgent de se (re)trouver. Cette quête paradoxale est à l'origine d'un mouvement à la fois centripète et centrifuge. Ce mouvement se manifeste par le biais du désir de construire une identité et parallèlement un souhait d'effacer à jamais toute identité. L'analyse se fonde et se développe sur une logique dialectique qui donne forme à la conscience de soi suite à un long apprentissage romanesque. En examinant les fondements mêmes de cette crispation identitaire d'un point de vue historique nous tentons de répondre à cette question : en quoi l'identité se révèle-t-elle inaccessible dans la première trilogie de l'écrivain ? Tant que la thèse porte sur la quête identitaire tiraillée entre fiction et histoire on se demande si la notion de l'identité que Modiano soulève correspond à une identité conflictuelle et problématique selon le point de vue des sciences humaines. Nous avons concentré notre étude sur ce parcours tourmenté des narrateurs placés dans un paysage fictif menaçant où se réunit les composantes d'une géographie romanesque exclusivement parisienne. Au sein de l'ambiguïté de l'Histoire et des désordres de la mémoire, l'écriture constitue le seul moyen efficace pour forger une identité narrative au narrateur modianesque afin de combattre contre l'anéantissement et la non existence. Même si le narrateur n'arrive pas à se retrouver, par l'écriture, et grâce à la mémoire des autres, il lui arrive néanmoins d'approcher son identité par ce qu'on appelle l'écriture asymptotique comme une seul garant de l'identité. A partir de l'aspect fragmentaire de l'écriture, on passe à la question liée au développement du narrateur. Ce dernier reflète l'identité de l'écrivain qui prend forme progressivement en remontant le temps. Enfin, il est possible de dire que le protagoniste est sorti de l'époque des désordres, qui lui était une fatalité depuis longtemps, pour atteindre la lucidité la plus grande dans sa quête identitaire à travers l'écriture
This thesis’ aim is to expose the meaning and evolution of a search for identity which stems from an original loss, or the absence of all things (absence of life) which provokes an urgent need to find oneself. This paradoxical quest initiates a movement that is both centripetal and centrifugal. That movement is apparent through the desire of building an identity as well as through the will to permanently erase all identity. The study draws and dwells upon a dialectical logic which shapes the conscience of the self throughout a long fictional initiation. While analysing the roots of that identity tension from a historical standpoint, we aim at answering the following question: to what extent identity proves unattainable in Modiano’s first trilogy ? Since the thesis explores a search for identity torn between fiction and history, we ask if the question of identity as posed by the author points to conflictual and problematic identity on scientific grounds.We built our study around the turbulent journey of narrators situated in a fictional and threatening context where components of an all-Parisian fictional geography come together. In front of history’s ambiguities and memory’s disorders, writing proves the only means capable of giving Modiano’s narrators a writer’s identity, thus enabling them to fight annihilation and non-existence. Though narrators do not succeed in finding themselves through writing and through other people’s memory, they sometimes manage to get closer to their identity through asymptotic writing which warrants somewhat identity. From the fragmentary nature of the texts, we explore the evolution of narrators. The latter reflect the author’s identity which progressively takes shape as they go back in time. Last, it can be said that the protagonist manages to get out of the disorderly times, which for a long period seemed inevitable, and thus attains a greater lucidity in his literary search for identity

Resumen
The title of my thesis is appropriately borrowed from a romance novel title, as my work proposes to mine the content, design and culture of romance novels and other erotic texts in order to excavate my own queer romance narrative. The body of work includes large-scale drawings of “stand-in boyfriends” stolen from romance novel covers, pieced fabric text works based on the titles of erotic texts, and a couch covered in erotic reading material. Drawing attention to the ubiquity of heterosexualized images and texts by deconstructing them, my work critically questions larger social constructions of normality and deviance, pleasure and disturbance, and high and low culture, as they pertain to ideas of love, romance and sexuality.

Driven by the crippling command of Eros, my work provides a veiled exposure to my secret life in love, desire, fear, and obsession. My sculptures are the physical evidence of an emotional realm coming forth in a coded language that is, even to me, only remotely accessible. The Demon that Lives in My Bedroom, the saga of the Cat People, the stories of Trasnichi and the Love Crusade; all came to me in a beam of thought. Once the beam takes hold, it becomes my obsession, and the era of that work begins. I can trace my development through these eras of obsessions.

This thesis examines both contemporary and historical meanings surrounding human body FAT in order to illuminate, chiefly, the forces that have rendered it both an omnipresent and negative entity in Western societies. It explores the apparent contradiction that we must exist amidst hyper-consumptive capitalism yet display no bodily evidence of such consumption. Along with an investigation into alternative bodily conceptions to that of the hegemonic West, a discourse analysis is employed to challenge the key assumptions that underpin the current 'obesity epidemic' and its ensuing 'war on obesity' so that body FAT may be configured differently. It is shown that, because bodily conceptions and ideals are complex cultural constructions, body FAT, as a substance, is not the scourge it is presently portrayed, but rather a substance that signifies most of what consumer society despises and fears. It is argued that the 'war on obesity' has not been successful, and will continue to be ineffective, because the focus should not be on losing body FAT but rather on the conditions of poverty that generate overall ill-health. It is concluded that such a 'war', if sustained in its current fashion, will only serve to further malign the situations of those deemed 'overweight and obese'.

9/11 highlighted failures by both the intelligence and policymaking communities, and these failures were identified by the 9/11 Commission. These failures only related to the inability of the intelligence community to imagine how terrorists might use aircraft as a suicide vehicle, and how politicians failed to eliminate the al-Qaeda threat and Osama bin Laden. Completely unnoticed by the 9/11 Commission, but acknowledged by many within the academic community, was a failure of academia to understand the threat by al-Qaeda and focus too much on weapons of mass destruction terrorism. This thesis examines the question: To what extent were the academic, policymaking, and intelligence communities obsessed with chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) terrorism prior to 9/11? The thesis concludes that CBRN terrorism was a concern, but was not the greatest national security threat prior to 9/11.

Beginning with Zygmunt Bauman’s account of ambivalence – which depends on the “master-opposition” between inside and outside – this chapter delineates the relation of ambivalence to modernity and ambiguity. It also elaborates the role of Freud’s thinking in the overall investigation of Seth’s work through a consideration of the uncanny, especially with regard to his character Simon Matchcard. The uncanny is considered as part of a family of ambivalent phenomena that includes nostalgia, obsession, compulsion, and the return of the repressed. This chapter relies heavily on Linda Hutcheon description of ambivalence as “the desire to be on both sides of any border, deriving energy from the continual crossing.” In comics, this continual crossing takes a particularized form in the movement from panel to panel. Seth subtly fosters ambiguity, arousing a generative ambivalence in the reader, which in turn reciprocally animates the text.

Resumen
The Conclusion of Classical Caledonia looks at nineteenth century attitudes towards Roman Scotland, also comparing these to Victorian attitudes towards England’s Roman heritage. It reveals striking differences, with the Roman period being viewed as a pivotal moment in the formation of modern England, but the exploits of the Romans in Scotland largely dismissed as an inconsequential footnote. During the Victorian era, the Scottish fascination with the Romans and the Caledonians would be replaced by more romanticised visions of the nation’s early history. This final section categorises the eighteenth-century obsession with Scotland’s Roman past as a historical and patriotic ‘dead end’ and discusses why it failed to become a lasting element of Scotland’s popular history and national identity.

Resumen
The history of students’ deviant behavior problem and studying different aspects of this phenomenon is defined by ambiguous understanding of the phenomenon occurrence nature. Widespread digitalization of educational environment and social life introduces new factors determining the behavior of modern adolescents. A promising approach to solving a number of research and practical problems in preventing deviant behavior among adolescents may consider the possibility of identifying a personal resource as a factor of preventing violations in adolescent behavior. The study involved 402 students from Moscow school. It revealed negative connotations in self-confidence and obsession with computer games, browsing social networks (Spearman’s correlation coefficient — .583), as well as with volitional control of emotional reactions — .598. A significant correlation was also found between teenagers’ dissatisfaction with significant adults’ attitude and obsession with computer games, browsing social networks: problems with teachers — Spearman’s correlation coefficient .458 and, accordingly, dissatisfaction with family relationship .431. All correlations are significant at the level of 0.01. Generally, the analysis results allow us to state that the questionnaire being developed can be useful both to identify the adolescent’s personal resource that enforce normative behavior and to identify deviant behavior risk predictors for students in grades 7–11. It can also be used as a tool for targeted planning in psychological and pedagogical support aimed at leveling various behavior violations and intrapersonal destructive states of adolescents.
