Based on the ANSYS, castellated lightweight steel portal frames are modeled to analysis the stress destruction process and stress distribution rule under horizontal and vertical loads. The comparative analysis with the original solid-webbed portal frame in yield load, ultimate load, the mid-span deflection is pursued. The results show that: there are some differences in failure mode between the castellated lightweight steel portal frame after expansion and the original solid-webbed portal frame. The former bearing capacity and rigidity increase by a large scale than the latter.

The paper investigates the strength and behavior of the portal steel frame under the consideration of working 3D models. In terms of design, the industrial buildings have been separated into a single portal frame to simplify the design process. This point of view is suitable for structures in that the applied loads are equally distributed to all frames. The fact that the crane loads including vertical and horizontal loads only directly affected one or several portal frames. Therefore, a 3D model of a whole single-story steel industrial building is simulated in a finite element software program

As the construction industry, especially steel construction, contributes to a large portion of global greenhouse gas emissions, sustainable structural design has become a necessity to achieve the world vision of reaching net zero emissions by 2050. This paper introduces a novel steel portal frame system, in which cold-formed nested tapered box members are used in the design. The bird and dust proofing features of the system make it useful for applications where clean work areas are required, such as food, storage, and manufacturing industries. The new section used in the portal frames comprises two cold-formed channels welded to each other, forming a box-shaped steel member, either tapered or prismatic along its length. Such sections possess high torsional stiffness compared with the conventional I-sections; therefore, lateral bracing em

Stability has been an important subject in the design of a portal frame structure. Conventional stability analysis of the portal frame is normally conducted assuming that all the joints are rigid. However, the joints of a portal frame in real applications are not always rigid and semirigid connections often exist. AISC design code requires that the effect of the joint flexibility on the behavior and buckling capacity of the portal frame should be taken into account in the analysis and design procedures. The traditional approach for the design of steel portal frame building systems is based on the idealised two-dimensional behaviour of a bare internal frame in the system. This approach totally ignores the integral action of other structural components in the system. In order to design the portal frame building system based on its 'true' threedimensional behaviour, it is necessary that other structural components such as steel roof and wall cladding systems and end frames (or their effects) are included in the analysis. The paper estimates how the time needed to export goods, the monetary cost of doing so, and uncertain time frames impact exports from Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. It finds that the uncertainty and the high monetary costs traders face hold back exports from the five countries, along with remoteness from ports and global markets.

Resumen
The main recommendations of the panel report can be summarised under five key headings. Underpinning all five areas is the recognition that human narratives remain crucial for ensuring the widest access to our shared past. There is no wish to see political and economic narratives abandoned but the need is recognised for there to be an expansion to more social narratives to fully explore the potential of the diverse evidence base. The questions that can be asked are here framed in a national context but they need to be supported and improved a) by the development of regional research frameworks

EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON BEHAVIOR OF THE GUSSET-PLATE JOINT OF ALUMINUM ALLOY PORTAL FRAME. The Hong Kong Institute of Steel Construction, 2022. http://dx.doi.org/10.18057/icass2020.p.257.

Resumen
"The aluminum alloy portal frames are increasingly being used for lightweight building construction. This paper investigated the flexural behavior of the bolted gusset-plate joint applied in the beam-beam connection of aluminum alloy portal frames. Bending tests were conducted on 3 aluminum alloy bolted gusset-plate joints. The failure phenomenon indicated that the thin plate joint failed by the buckling of gusset plates, while the thick plate joint failed by the buckling of sleeves. The momentrotation curves showed that thickening the gusset plate can effectively prevent the buckling of gusse

EXPERIMENTS ON BOLTED CONNECTIONS IN COLD-ROLLED ALUMINIUM PORTAL FRAMES. The Hong Kong Institute of Steel Construction, 2022. http://dx.doi.org/10.18057/icass2020.p.241.

Resumen
The use of portal frame systems composed of cold-rolled aluminium profiles is likely to be a new structural solution in corrosive environments. In such structural systems, stainless steel bolts are commonly used as connectors to fasten various aluminium components in the full-scale systems. In these connections, the point fasteners may experience either shear force, torque and/or a combination of both, leading to complex behaviours of the connections. While the failure may occur at a bolt, the other structural components are still in the elastic state. Hence, investigation into the load-deform

TESTS, MODELLING AND DESIGN OF UNSYMMETRICAL BACK-TO-BACK COLD-FORMED STEEL ANGLES UNDER COMPRESSION. The Hong Kong Institute of Steel Construction, 2024. http://dx.doi.org/10.18057/ijasc.2024.20.2.11.

Resumen
Built-up cold-formed steel (CFS) unsymmetrical angles are increasingly used in structures such as portal frames, roof trusses, and transmission towers. However, there are limited studies on CFS unequal back-to-back angle columns (BBUAC) with stiffeners. This paper presents the results of six experimental tests on intermediate BBUAC with intermittent screw fasteners. The findings include the deformed shapes at failure and the load-axial shortening behavior. Additionally, a nonlinear finite element (FE) model that accounts for both material and geometric nonlinearity was developed. The experimen
