Modernism and postmodernism were born from mainland Europe and America. This philosophical thought penetrated religious issues. Postmodernism was born as an attempt to understand social conditions and phenomena, the term postmodernism appeared for the first time in literature in 1939. In the context of religion, Postmodernism in its aim so that religious understanding does not fall into the system of totalitarian interpretation in a religious context and the context of social systems, economics, culture, and politics. The topic of Postmodernism in this paper is presented based on its actuality and to stimulate our thinking which is generally still oriented to modern or even traditional concepts. By studying this relatively new concept we will be confronted with the basic question of which philosophical thinking results have correlation values ​​and relevance to the development and demands of contemporary society, not which ones are theoretically correct. The statement confirms the relativity of reason. The realm of absolute truth is not in humans, absolute truth is from and belongs to God. Keywords: Postmodernism, Contemporary Islam, Moderism Abstrak Modernisme dan postmodernisme lahir dari daratan Eropa dan Amerika Pemikiran filosofis ini merambah ke persoalan keagamaan. Postmodernime lahir sebagai usaha memahami kondisi dan fenomena sosial, istilah postmodernisme muncul untuk pertama kalinya dalam sastra pada tahun 1939. Dalam konteks keagamaan, Postmodernisme dalam bertujuannya agar faham keagamaan tidak jatuh pada sistem tafsir totaliter tunggal dalam konteks keagamaan dan dalam konteks sistem sosial, ekonomi, budaya dan politik. Topik Postmodernisme dalam tulisan ini disajikan berdasarkan pada aktualitasnya dan guna merangsang pemikiran kita yang pada umumnya masih berorientasi pada konsep-konsep modern atau bahkan tradisional. Dengan mempelajari konsep yang relatif baru ini kita akan dihadapkan pada pertanyaan dasar tentang hasil pemkiran filsafat yang manakah yang mempunyai nilai korelasi dan relevansi dengan perkembangan dan tuntutan masyarakat kontemporer, bukan yang manakah yang benar secara teoritis an sich. Pernyataan tersebut menegaskan relativitas kebenaran nalar. Wilayah kebenaran mutlak bukan ada pada manusia, Kebenaran mutlak adalah dari dan milik Tuhan. One of the most important elements of postmodernity is the growing awareness of the diversity and potential incommensurability of the various forms of cultural life that sustain groups and individuals and addresses the postmodernist denial that postmodernism is inherently apathetic or hostile to social or political action. Postmodernism is a reaction to the epistemological ideals of modernity. Postmodernism is based on a limited human point of view, and thus becomes a prisoner of its own subjectivity, resulting in two main characteristics, namely pluralism and relativism. This study analyzes the postmodern view that is implemented in Christian education in Indonesia. The method used in this article is a literature study by using philosophical biblical glasses to analyze postmodern views. The result is that postmodern moral education (such as transcendentalism and idealism) has some useful and some negative aspects that should be considered for planning moral education and curriculum development for Christian education in Indonesia. Satu elemen paling penting dari postmodernitas adalah tumbuhnya kesadaran akan keragaman dan potensi ketidakterbandingan dari berbagai bentuk kehidupan budaya yang menopang kelompok dan individu dan membahas penolakan postmodernis bahwa postmodernisme secara inheren apatis atau bermusuhan dengan tindakan sosial atau politik. Postmodernisme merupakan reaksi terhadap cita-cita epistemologis modernitas. Postmodernisme didasarkan pada sudut pandang manusia yang terbatas, dan dengan demikian menjadi tawanan subyektivitasnya sendiri, menghasilkan dua karakteristik utama, yaitu pluralisme dan relativisme. Kajian ini menganalisis pandangan postmodern yang diimplementasikan pada pendidikan Kristen di Indonesia. Metode yang digunakan pada artikel ini adalah studi literatur dengan memanfaat kacamata biblis filosofis untuk menganalisa pandangan postmodern. Hasilnya adalah pendidikan moral postmodern (seperti transendentalisme dan idealisme) memiliki beberapa aspek yang berguna dan beberapa negatif yang harus dipertimbangkan untuk perencanaan pendidikan moral dan pengembangan kurikulum pendidikan Kristen di Indonesia.

Le concept de postmodernisme pose beaucoup de problèmes en Amérique latine. Pour certains auteurs, il s'agit d'un terme créé par des pays riches, libéraux et capitalistes qui y trouvent un appui théorique à leur désengagement politique. Quelques-uns se posent en effet la question suivante: comment pourrions-nous être postmodernes si nous ne sommes pas encore vraiment modernes? D'autres, par contre, défendent le fait d'un postmodernisme latino-américain pas plus réactionnaire que n'importe quel autre mouvement culturel, puisque tout dépend de l'usage que l'on en fait. Il y a aussi des écrivains qui défendent un postmodernisme latino-américain spécifique. Et il y a même ceux qui croient que tout le postmodernisme est né en Amérique latine sous l'influence de Borges. Dans cet article, nous exposons donc cette polémique et nous essayons de résumer les éléments de base permettant de reconnaître l'existence d'un mouvement postmoderniste spécifique à ce continent.

Tulisan ini merupakan ulasan teoritik yang menelaah pemikiran postmodernism dalam perspektif teori organisasi secara khusus dalam pandangan Philips Hancock dan Melissa Tyler (2001). Merujuk dari pemikiran tersebut, kemudian dikolaborasi dengan beberapa literatur guna mendiskusikan pandangan-pandangan pemikir lainnya tentang perkembangan keilmuan yang berkembang mengikuti perkembangan zaman. Data dan informasi dikumpulkan melalui studi pustaka dengan teknik menyimak, membaca dan mencatat obyek yang dipelajari melalui buku-buku, literatur ataupun bahan pustaka yang relevan, sehingga data (dalam bentuk kata-kata) kemudian dianalisis sesuai dengan kebutuhan penulisan, yakni mengungkapkan kebenaran ilmiah. Hasil kajian teoritik memberi gambaran bahwa postmodernisme mengawali kemunculannnya sebagai reaksi atas ketidakpuasan terhadap modernisme yang lebih mempercayai kekuatan ilmu pengetahuan (management scientific) yang mengarah pada perubahan. Kendati demikian, postmodernisme bukan kritik pada satu bidang disiplin ilmu, namun pada semua bidang yang memiliki keterkaitan dengan budaya. Ciri pemikiran postmodernisme adalah pluralitas, artinya penghargaan kepada keberagaman berpikir. Setiap orang boleh berbicara dengan bebas sesuai dengan pemikirannya. Postmodernisme menolak arogansi dari setiap teori.

<p>The paper aims to view the Huntington's ideas from different perspective that is postmodernism. The writer assumes that Huntington's thesis is much easier to understand if it is placed on postmodernism discourse. The outstanding characteristics of postmodernism are decentralization, deconstruction, de-consensus, and "condemned" modernism that is valued anti humanism and militarism. Penulis berasumsi bahwa tesis Huntington lebih mudah dipahami jika diletakkan pada wacana postmodernisme. Karakteristik postmodernisme yang menonjol adalah desentralisasi, dekonstruksi, de-konsensus, dan modernisme "mengutuk" yang dihargai anti humanisme dan militerisme. Di era postmodemisme, makna teks tidak pada teks itu sendiri, tetapi pada hubungan yang mempererat teks dan pembaca. Di era ini, ada pernyataan tentang kematian sang penulis (Barthes). AbstractThis project aims to give an analysis of the signs of confrontation in terms of postmodernism strategies by Brian McHale experienced by the main character in Gwendolyn Willow Wilson’s Alif The Unseen. Besides, the researcher analyzed the novel used the theory by Jean Francois Lyotard and Fredrich Jameson to describe the main character’s reaction toward ontological confrontation in postmodern society used in the novel. This article is qualitative research which used the Postmodernism studies to understand one of the strategies to show the ontological confrontations in the novel. This article elaborated some ontological confrontations in postmodernism including confrontation between the fiction and the historical realemes, the fusion between two worlds, and also polyglot. Meanwhile, this article also classified the main character’s reaction toward the ontological confrontation in 5 reactions: refusal reaction, skeptical reaction, curiousity reaction, surprise reaction, and acceptance reaction. It can be concluded that Alif as the part of Postmodern society must recognized the jinn creatures around him as the hacker who has the high ability and dependency of the technology.Keywords: Confrontation, Alif The Unseen, Postmodernism AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan analisis terhadap tanda-tanda konfrontasi dalam hal strategi postmodernisme oleh Brian McHale yang dialami oleh tokoh utama dalam Alif The Unseen karya Gwendolyn Willow Wilson. Selain itu, peneliti menganalisis novel menggunakan teori oleh Jean Francois Lyotard dan Fredrich Jameson untuk menggambarkan reaksi karakter utama terhadap konfrontasi ontologis dalam masyarakat postmodern yang digunakan dalam novel. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif yang menggunakan studi Postmodernisme untuk memahami salah satu strategi untuk menunjukkan konfrontasi ontologis dalam novel. Artikel ini menguraikan beberapa konfrontasi ontologis dalam postmodernisme termasuk konfrontasi antara fiksi dan kenyataan sejarah, fusi antara dua dunia, dan juga polyglot. Sementara itu, artikel ini juga mengklasifikasikan reaksi karakter utama terhadap konfrontasi ontologis dalam 5 reaksi: reaksi penolakan, reaksi skeptis, reaksi rasa ingin tahu, reaksi kejutan, dan reaksi penerimaan. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa Alif sebagai bagian dari masyarakat Postmodern harus mengakui makhluk jin di sekitarnya sebagai peretas yang memiliki kemampuan tinggi dan ketergantungan teknologi.Kata kunci: Konfrontasi, Alif The Unseen, Postmodernisme

This paper examines one of the most influential theories of the 20th century, postmodernism, in the present time. Within this framework, this paper concentrates on the main elements of postmodernism in a critical-historical perspective and the recently developed theories which claim to offer an up-to date theoretical framework for the current ambiguous period. This article also investigates the question of whether these recently developed theories provide a better understanding of the present than classical postmodernism. After analyzing the recent theoretical views on the current, along with the classical postmodernism, in the conclusion the study will emphasis that these views (and classical theories of postmodernism), actually, reveal their lack of definition and explanation about the current. Santrauka Šiame straipsnyje esamuoju laiku nagrinėjama viena įtakingiausių XX amžiaus teorijų – postmodernizmas. Atliekant šiuos tyrinėjimus iš kritinės ir istorinės perspektyvos susitelkiama į pagrindinius postmodernizmo elementus ir pastaruoju metu plėtojamas teorijas, reikalaujančias nūdieniam nevienareikšmiškam laikotarpiui suteikti naujausią teorinį pagrindą. Straipsnyje gvildenamas klausimas, ar šios pastaruoju metu plėtojamos teorijos leidžia geriau suprasti dabartinį, o ne klasikinį postmodernizmą. Išanalizavus naujausius teorinius požiūrius į dabartį kartu su klasikiniu postmodernizmu, išvadose pabrėžiama, kad šie požiūriai (ir klasikinės postmodernizmo teorijos) iš tikrųjų dabartį aiškina nepakankamai apibrėžtai ir tiksliai.

Postmodernism cannot be separated from modernism. Modernism's paradigm that science is absolute and objective means that humans cannot judge it. This is where a new thought called postmodernism was born which became a continuation of modernism which gave a new view of science. This study uses a type of qualitative research with hermeneutic methods, descriptions and comparisons to answer the problem. The conclusion of this study shows that postmodernism is a movement that criticizes science for the tradition of modernism whose influence on rationalism, materialism and capitalism is supported by science and destroys human dignity. Postmodernism emerged due to the failure of modernism which raised human dignity and failed to bring human life to a better direction, free from violence.AbstrakPostmodernisme tidak dapat dipisahkan dari pemikiran modernisme. Pemikiran modernisme menekankan ilmu pengetahuan yang bersifat mutlak dan objektif yang berarti manusia tidak dapat menilainya. Dari sinilah awal mula lahir pemikiran baru yang disebut postmodernisme yang menjadi keberlanjutan dari modernisme yang memberi pandangan baru tentang ilmu pengetahuan. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian kualitatif dengan metode penelitian yang digunakan untuk meneliti pada kondisi obyek yang alamiah, deskripsi dan komparasi untuk menjawab masalah. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini bahwa posmodernisme merupakan gerakan kritik ilmu pengetahuan atas tradisi modernisme yang pengaruhnya pada rasionalisme, materialisme dan kapitalisme yang didukung oleh ilmu pengetahuan dan menghancurkan martabat manusia. Muncul Postmodernisme disebabkan karena gagalnya modernisme yang mengangkat harkat dan martabat manusia

In this article, I discuss the implications of postmodernism on religious thought, with special reference to Islamic thought. Firstly, I discuss the nature and characteristics of postmodernist thinking, and the different schools of thought/’postmodernisms’ that fall under that rubric. My contention is that postmodernism is a response to modernism rather than religion, although it has implications on religious thought. Secondly, I examine and compare the points of contention between modernism and post-modernism. I then argue that the differences are largely due to the privileging of nature and reasoning of modernists and the privileging of human/social and psychology of postmodernists. These, in turn, have implications on their metaphysics and epistemology, respectively. Thirdly, I provide an Islamic perspective on the modernist-postmodernist discourse, showing that the Islamic perspective transcends the natural-social divide, and how the tripartite relationship between God, man and nature, informs the discourse. The philosophy of language is also brought up in the discussion, where I suggest that Islam accepts the dual role of languages, that is, conveying the meaning in its literal sense (aka modernist), as well as being a symbol and an indirect reference (aka postmodernist). Finally, a close comparison is made between postmodernism and Islam, where both their incompatibilities as well as possible points of convergence are discussed.

Algo tan aparentemente inofensivo como un prefijo -"post"- ha revolucionado el debate cultural de la pasada década de los años ochenta al asociarse a la raíz "modern", una de las más privativas de nuestro siglo. Juntos han espoleado casi todos los ámbitos de las ciencias sociales, planteando esta pregunta como una letanía: ¿Existe un "después" para el proyecto de la modernidad?. Esta sociedad lingüística, que cuenta ya con una breve historia de su gestación, desarrollo e instauración, ha dado lugar a variados términos y a variadas acepciones de estos. En esta investigación, centrada en el ámbito de las artes plásticas, el término utilizado es el de "postmodernismo" (Capítulo 1). Pero no es posible crear un modelo verosímil de este si no es a partir de su oposición con los términos modernismo, vanguardia y tardomodernismo. El término "vanguardia", por su naturaleza "histórica", se presenta en la investigación como el referente más eficaz para ensayar una definición del "postmodernismo" insertada en la diacronía (Capítulo 2). El termino modernismo, por su parte, facilita una definición insertada en la sincronía, a través del análisis, desde la perspectiva del "postmodernismo", de dos de sus conceptos constitutivos en el ámbito de las artes plásticas: la historia y la autonomía (Capítulo 3). Todos estos pasos previos son imprescindibles para plantearse un ensayo interpretativo sobre la manifestación del postmodernismo en las artes plásticas cuya hipótesis principal es la siguiente: el postmodernismo genera objetos metaculturales para la representación de la postmodernidad; o dicho de otro modo, la interpretación de las artes plásticas en la década de los ochenta no puede tener lugar sin hacer referencia a la constelación alegórica del postmodernismo: la muerte del sujeto y de la razón en el arte. Estas alegorías marcan hasta tal punto la interpretación de las artes plásticas, que estas no tienen identidad autónoma.

Le postmodernisme désigne l'état de la culture du monde contemporain et la postmodernité, la période historique correspondante. Les théories postmodernes ont connu un essor considérable à partir des années 1970, lorsqu'éclate la guerre civile libanaise(1975-1990). Ilyas Khuri, auteur libanais né en 1948, a vécu l'expérience de la violence et des défaites. Ses romans témoignent de la fragmentation du pays et de la narration. Le postmodernisme, en littérature, s'avère un paradigme de lecture de son oeuvre. Notre démarche permet de révéler la place centrale de l'engagement et des valeurs dans ses romans malgré l'effondrement des grands récits. Elle fait apparaître les tensions sous-jcentes à son oeuvre. La mise en rapport du texte et du contexte permet de rendre compte de l'évolution de son écriture romanesque. L'oeuvre romanesque d'Ilyas Khuri apporte ainsi des réponses singulières aux interrogations de l'époque
Postmodernism is the state of culture of the contemporary world and postmodernity the corresponding historical period. During the 1970's, postmodern theories enjoyed a considerable development at the time when the lebanese civil war (1975-1990) erupted. Ilyas Khuri, a lebanese author born in 1948, experienced violence and defeats. His novels express the fragmentation of the country and the narration. Postmodernism in literature proves to be a paradigm to interpret his writings. Our approach helps to reveal the central role of engagement and values despite the collapse of big narratives. It enlights the underlying tensions of his novels. The interaction between text and context helps to grasp the change process of his literary writings. Ilyas Khuri literary works bring therefore distinctive answers to current questions

En considérant les implications esthétiques dues au changement de paradigmes survenu en France dans les années 80, le projet vise à interroger le fonctionnement de l'écriture autobiographique des anciens nouveaux romanciers (Alain Robbe-Grillet, Marguerite Duras, Nathalie Sarraute) dans la perspective d'une esthétique du mensonge. A partir de considérations théoriques qui thématisent le phénomène du mensonge dans la littérature, et plus particulièrement dans le discours autobiographique traditionnel de même que dans la Nouvelle Autobiographie, l'approche consiste à mettre au point des outils pertinents d'analyse permettant d'appréhender les différentes pratiques de mensonge comme manifestation de l'inauthenticité. En effet, l'esthétique du mensonge ne relève aucunement de la vérification, mais de la façon dont s'instaure une certaine authenticité et des chances de réussite de cette entreprise

Cette thèse en création littéraire propose de concilier les enjeux de l'écriture romanesque et les théories de l'épistémè postmoderne. La première partie présente un texte de création inédit, un roman intitulé Enfers , marqué par l'esthétique composite du postmodernisme--relais de narration, autoreprésentation, intertextualité--sans pour autant sacrifier la lisibilité. Enfers présente des thèmes qui illustrent la fin des idéaux et traite de l'altérité, non seulement culturelle, mais aussi spirituelle et sexuelle, des enjeux typiquement postmodernes. La deuxième partie, un essai intitulé Vie et mort du postmodernisme , fait le point sur l'herméneutique postmoderne, mesure l'incidence de cette épistémè dans le roman contemporain et propose une typologie du roman postmoderne québécois. D'abord,"Passages de la modernité : l'horizon postmoderne" offre une description de l'évolution des concepts de modernité et de postmodernité et définit les paramètres du postmodernisme en littérature au Québec. Ensuite,"Apostille à Enfers" retrace la genèse du roman proposé dans le premier volet de la thèse et dresse un portrait de l'importance des motifs du mal, de l'apocalypse et de la fin de l'histoire dans l'épistémè postmoderne ainsi que dans certains romans québécois contemporains. Enfin,"Typologie du roman postmoderne québécois", présente une taxinomie du genre comprenant quatre catégories qui se distinguent par des caractéristiques formelles, thématiques et socioculturelles communes. La conclusion de la thèse est que l'herméneutique postmoderne représente un outil heuristique pertinent pour réunir la création et l'analyse littéraires. Les manifestations postmodernes sont prégnantes dans le roman québécois et la typologie proposée permet d'en mesurer l'incidence et d'en préciser les formes.

Both academia and popular culture have neglected the movement of Scandinavian Postmodern architecture (ca. 1975-1990), a tradition eclipsed by Modernism as the prevailing aesthetic and social project in Scandinavia. In light of the last decade of Postmodernism’s resurgence in the architectural academy globally, and recent uses of Postmodern architectural principles by right-wing movements in Europe, it is a crucial time to revisit this obscured regional Postmodernism. The movement of Scandinavian Postmodern architecture coincided with political shifts in the region which were supported by both the right and left of the political spectrum causing a shared space of conflict and imagination. The political dimensions of Scandinavian Postmodernism will be explored primarily through a close reading of Danish Postmodern Architect and Writer Ernst Lohse’s 1986 manifesto “Our Construction Should be Based in the Irrational” (translated into English for the first time for this paper), where, despite Lohse’s own sympathy for the environmental movement, he adopts familiar conservative rhetoric, bemoaning the loss of Western culture and the limitations of the welfare state. This paper will reconstruct the obscured history of Scandinavian Postmodernism, using the case of Ernst Lohse to locate discourse that reveals the movement as a site of contention and overlap between diverging political groups and its particular appeal to the conservative imagination.

Th e architecture of the city of Chisinau has been formed for more than a hundred years in diffi cult historical and socio-economic conditions, being infl uenced by the conceptual transformations of world architecture. During the study period, the architecture of buildings underwent a consistent stylistic transformation from historical to modern trends: eclecticism, neoclassicism, modernism, and postmodernism. In the last two decades, there has been an increase in the infl uence of conceptual direct ions of development of foreign architecture on the creative processes of postmodernist orienta tion taking place in Moldovan architecture. Th e research makes it possible to determine the current trends in the development of architecture in Chisinau, denoting them with the concepts – “Convergence”, “Reminiscence” and “contradiction”, which has a certain architectural and stylistic reference with corresponding compositional techniques that refl ect the polystylism of the development of world architecture.

Academic novel is by definition a cultural enterprise, but it can properly surprise the hostility of an extremely hierarchical environment. Concepts, ideas and archetypes are preserved and melted in the literary substance even with the help of irony and pastiche. Or, better said, irony and pastiche are means of avoiding the hostility of a milieu blocked in stereotypes and snobbery. Kingsley Amis’s novel ”Lucky Jim” absorbs modernist cultural ingredients in order to demythologize them in a postmodern fashion. Anyway, it seems that the process of demythization implies the subsequent process of re-mythization. The cultural heritage is unavoidable in the last phase of postmodernism. In 1975 we can hardly speak about cultural aphasia. The individual with a postmodernist Weltanschauung plays the satirical role of the knight errant in search of falsified (dragonized) modernist mentalities and cultural options. This paper will analyse the risks and methods of demythization and the reverse process in an attempt to understand the cultural logic of antimodernist approaches.

The prerequisites for this study are criticism of postmodernism by theorists and philosophers of culture, and the actualisation of metamodernism as one of the most popular theories of postmodernism. The relevance of the study is determined by the appearance of a ‘new sensitivity’ having arisen from geopolitical events of the 2000s. Metamodernism theory authors declare the new structure of sensation to be different from the dominants of postmodernism and modernism. The article describes the transformation of the representation of cultural traumas in public discourse with the consideration of ideas of metamodernism and a new frankness. The article covers the methodological capabilities for using postmodernism and metamodernism discourses for analysing the principles of representation of cultural trauma within public discourse. Distinguishing features of new frankness are highlighted. Immortal Regiment action is analysed as an example of actualisation of personal experience and family history in public discourse. The concept of ‘new frankness’ increases the role and significance of the witness. The examples of works of contemporary mass culture and media resources are used to trace the actualisation of the witness’s narrative of cultural trauma. Warmth, depth, and affect, characteristic of metamodernism, actualise the demand for plausibility and personal experience of an event. An indirect effect of these hypotheses consists in that narratives on cultural trauma are multivariate as manifested in criticism of the conventional image of a historic event. Re-evaluating historical events from different points of view triggers mechanisms of latent trauma, potentially making almost any historical event a cultural trauma. The study resulted in the revelation of accentuation of sensitivity in narratives of cultural traumas, as opposed to manners prevailing in modernism and postmodernism discourses, i.e. practices of stigmatisation, suppression, and the commodification of cultural traumas.

Bu çalışma, günümüz sanat anlayışının neredeyse bütün biçimlerinde kendini gösteren ve halen tartışılmaya devam eden bir olgu olarak postmodern yaklaşımın sinemasal örneklerini incelemektedir. Bilindiği gibi postmodernizm, modern dönemin bütün kurallarına karşı çıkan, sürekli yenilik ve ilerleme söylemini reddeden yapısıyla kültürel çeşitliliği savunmaktadır. Genel olarak modernitenin sorgulanması ve aşılması olarak değerlendirilen postmodernizm, sanatsal alanda önceki dönem yapıtlarını, alıntılama, öykünme, alaysılama vb. yöntemlerle yeni olanla yinelemektedir. Günümüzde neredeyse hemen her şeyin alıntılama üzerine kurulu olduğu postmodern sanat yaklaşımı ve sinemasal metinler temel bir estetik seçim olarak metinlerarasılık yöntemlerine başvurmaktadır. Postmodern öğretinin okuma yöntemi olarak kabul gören metinlerarasılık kavramı iki ya da daha fazla metin arasındaki bir tür söyleşim, etkileşim ya da iki farklı gösterge dizgesi arasındaki alışveriş işlemleri olarak tanımlanmaktadır. Metinlerarasılık bağlamında sinemasal alanda önceki döneme ait yapıtlar, alıntılama, kopyalama, gönderme vb. yöntemlerle güncellenmekte ve bu uygulamalar özellikle 80'li yıllardan sonra sıklıkla karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Sanatlar arasındaki katı kuralları kaldıran, farklı disiplinleri birbirleriyle harmanlayan postmodern yaklaşım, bu alanda oldukça yoğun ilişkileri kapsamaktadır. Bu bağlamda, son dönemde metinlerarasılığın yanı sıra farklı sanat disiplinleri arasındaki ilişkileri tanımlamak için yeni yaklaşımlara ihtiyaç duyularak değişik disiplinler arasındaki ilişkileri belirtmek için 'göstergelerarasılık' kavramı tercih edilir olmuştur. Görsel çağda yaşadığımız günümüzde sinema, kitlelere eğlence sunan ticari bir araç olarak kendine özgü karma bir yapıya sahiptir. Sinema, karma yapısı nedeniyle, ilk yıllardan itibaren farklı sanatsal disiplinler ile ilişki içerisinde olarak değişik disiplinlerden yararlanmaktadır bu bağlamda yapılan çalışmalar postmodern sinema alanında göstergelerarasılık olarak değerlendirilmektedir.
