PurposeNew Public Management (NPM) has increased fragmentation in municipal health and social care organizations. In response, post-NPM reforms aim to enhance integration through service integration. Integration of municipal services is important for people with complex health and social challenges, such as concurrent substance abuse and mental health problems. This article explores the conditions for service integration in municipal health and social services by studying how public management values influence organizational and financial structures and professional practices.Design/methodology/approachThis is a case study with three Norwegian municipalities as case organizations. The study draws on observations of interprofessional and interagency meetings and in-depth interviews with professionals and managers. The empirical field is municipal services for people with concurrent substance abuse and mental health challenges. The data were analyzed both inductively and deductively.FindingsThe study reveals that opportunities to assess, allocate and deliver integrated services were limited due to organizational and financial structures as the most important aim was to meet the financial goals. The authors also find that economic and frugal values in NPM doctrines impede service integration. Municipalities with integrative values in organizational and financial structures and in professional approaches have greater opportunities to succeed in integrating services.Originality/valueApplying a public management value perspective, this study finds that the values on which organizational and financial structures and professional practices are based are decisive in enabling and constraining service integration.

It is substantiated that one of the effective ways to improve the quality of education is interdisciplinary integration. The interdisciplinary approach based on the new educational standards presupposes, first of all, the ability of the medical education seeker to solve problems and take responsibility; act in an unstable context; motivation of students to study a certain discipline, thorough understanding and comparison; application of the acquired knowledge in practice; broadening the horizons, increasing the independence and creativity of future medical professionals; integration of the acquired knowledge, skills and abilities into one whole and perception of the material mastered during all training as inseparable unity. Methodological aspects of training a future medical specialist in the system of higher professional education in the conditions of interdisciplinary integration are considered. The main directions of improving the professional training of medical students on the basis of integration of different approaches are identified. The importance of applying interdisciplinary integration in the training of future medical professionals on the example of a combination of clinical, bioethical and legal knowledge is substantiated. The issue of application of interdisciplinary integration in the training of medical students is covered. The factors of optimization of the process of training future medical specialists on the basis of interdisciplinary connections are considered. It is shown that the application of interdisciplinary integrative technologies provides grounds for the formation and development of future medical professionals in the field of analytical and critical thinking, which is the key to improving the quality of medical education. It is proved that the professional training of future specialists in the medical field is in dynamic development, which is due to the priority of improving the quality of medical education. It was found that the effectiveness of the integration approach in the training of future medical professionals, in order to improve the quality of their education, requires improvement of the methodological concept in the development of educational and methodological complex of professional training on the basis of interdisciplinary integration. This can be ensured by taking into account the following factors: social demands for professional activity; the specifics of training at clinical departments and the peculiarities of mastering non-core disciplines; providing scientific, informational and methodological support of the educational process; formation and development of future medical professionals of analytical and critical types of thinking. The proposed will ensure high-quality readiness of future medical professionals for their professional activities.

The article presents a study of the problems of integrating Federal state and professional standards in the training of specialists with secondary vocational education institutions. Federal state standard of new generation set up for the teachers of special disciplines of secondary vocational education institutions the problem of creating conditions to ensure the implementation of standard requirements to results of education, and the formation of professional competencies with the purpose of achievement of the standard of professional education. The process of implementing these requirements is complicated by the diff erent approaches to FSS and professional standard. The study is based on a practical methodology that focuses on solving practical problems and purposeful transformation of vocational training programmes, to ensure integration of FSS and professional standards in the training of specialists. The article provides an example of integration of requirements of the FSS and professional standards on the basis of professional educational organizations. The results consist in the description of the experience of the competence approach to organization of educational process, integration of standards by the example of one educational institution. This experience is applicable in any professional educational organization, regardless of the provisioning profile. The authors observed the diff erential nature of the main types of professional competencies of the FSS and the integrative nature of job functions of the professional standard, the necessity of designing professional modules having leading nature. The article describes the experience of integrating the standards applicable in any professional educational organization, regardless of the provisioning profile.

Resumen
Integrating health and social care has been a major objective of recent policy reforms in Italy. Integration has been implemented on three levels, namely institutional, organizational and professional. At the professional level multiprofessional teams have been created or adapted (if existing) in several areas, including among others, care of the elderly, the disabled and the addicted. This article discusses the findings of an empirical study based on 57 interviews with managers and members of community-based, multiprofessional teams in the Turin area, Italy. The topics addressed include the effects of integration on the traditionally dominant role of the medical profession, on relationships between professionals and managers and on work organization and interprofessional strains. The findings point to a more balanced role of medicine and other professions than before the policy reforms, and to a reconsideration of the managerialism–professionalism dichotomy, since professionals tend to capture managerial work and co-opt it into a new professionalism.

Resumen
Leadership has an important role in the educational institutions. The increasing number of implementation models of integrative Islamic education institutions demand greater competence of the leaders in order to perform their duties effectively. The most complex integrative Islamic educational institution model is developed based on boarding school by integrating formal and nonformal education as well as cross ladder as developed by Al Mukmin Islamic Boarding School (PPIM) Ngruki and modern boarding schools in general. The result of this study shows that the effective leadership model of an integrative Islamic educational institution is a democratic-transformational model. This model needs the institutional leaders to have professional, personal, social, and spiritual competences. The integration of the educational institutions management should be done thoroughly starting from the integration of curriculum management, human resources, infrastructure, financing, public relations and marketing, and other aspects.

PurposeIntegrated healthcare is a central tenant of the NHS Long Term Plan (NHS, 2019). NICE in 2019 published guidelines; advising the integration of multidisciplinary professionals which may lead to an improvement in conservative treatment methods of pelvic organ prolapse. Therefore, current literature on the conservative treatments for pelvic organ prolapse needs to be reviewed to ascertain if an integrated approach would improve the symptoms and quality of life for women.Design/methodology/approachA systematic review of the literature between 2013 and 2018 was implemented. Papers included were written in English, peer-reviewed and consisted of treatments of pelvic organ prolapse in women. Papers containing surgical interventions, postpartum participants, reviews, evaluations, guidelines, follow-up studies, focusing on cost effectiveness, sexual function were excluded.FindingsSeven studies in total were included, and two overarching themes were identified: quality of life after treatment and the effect of conservative treatment on pelvic organ prolapse symptoms. The literature suggested that integrating care had a more positive outcome on pelvic organ symptoms and quality of life.Research limitations/implicationsTo develop a robust enhanced model of care for conservative treatment of pelvic organ prolapse through more mixed method or qualitative research, that incorporates integrative treatment methods with collaboration from multidisciplinary professionals.Practical implicationsThe practical implications of integrating the conservative management of pelvic organ prolapse is the communication between the multidisciplinary team must be exceptional to ensure everyone understands and agrees the treatment that is being provided to patient. Also, effective teamwork is important to ensure the patient receives the best care with input from the correct disciplines. The multi-professional team will need to have regular meetings to discuss and implement care plans for patients that might prove difficult to schedule due to differing commitments and priorities. This must be overcome to insure a successful and effective integrated approach to pelvic organ prolapse is delivered.Social implicationsThe social implications of integrating the professional approach to women's care of pelvic organ prolapse involves reducing the severity of the symptoms therefore, increasing the quality of life. This may result in the reduction of surgical intervention due to the patient being satisfied with the conservative management. Through integrating the management of the prolapse the patient will receive an accessible individualised care plan pathway that focuses on treating or reducing the impact of the symptoms that are bothersome to the patient whilst managing patient expectations. Patients will also, be reassured by the number of multi-disciplinary professionals involved in their care.Originality/valueGlobal integration of conservative treatments and multidisciplinary-professionals specialising in pelvic organ prolapse and pelvic floor dysfunction is needed.

L’objectif général de la thèse vise à examiner les effets d’une pratique de conseil en orientation professionnelle auprès de personnes placées sous main de justice. L’emploi est reconnu comme un levier du processus de désistance, mais les sortants de détention peinent à y accéder. Des dispositifs d’orientation sont déployés en prison afin de favoriser l’insertion professionnelle à l’issue de la peine. Au-delà de la recherche de solutions concrètes, les pratiques actuelles de conseil en orientation ont pour finalité de développer l’autonomie, la construction de soi et la capacité à construire sa vie. Ces perspectives renvoient à l’ambition de favoriser le changement de trajectoire des personnes incarcérées. Une étude est menée auprès de 32 hommes, inscrits sur un dispositif d’orientation, durant leur incarcération. Les changements sont évalués à partir de deux types de données : d’une part, les caractéristiques initiales liées aux parcours et aux connaissances relatives au projet, et d’autre part, les auto-présentations pré et post-bilan sur des dimensions psychologiques liées aux perceptions de soi, soit le sentiment d’efficacité personnelle, l’autodétermination, les attributions causales, l’estime de soi et l’image de soi. Initialement, les présentations de soi des participants ne semblaient pas fonctionnelles pour accéder à l’emploi ou à la formation. Les résultats suggèrent que l’intervention amène à une posture plus réaliste et plus adaptative en vue de la réinsertion future. Au terme de la recherche, des perspectives sont émises afin d’accompagner plus efficacement l’insertion professionnelle de la population carcérale
This study examines the impact of a vocational guidance program on incarcerated individuals. Access to employment is recognized as a lever in the desistance process. However, people leaving detention have difficulty finding employment. Guidance programs are deployed in detention centers in order to define and implement professional projects. Beyond the search for concrete solutions, current guidance practices aim to develop autonomy, self-construction and the ability to rebuild one's life. Ambition is used to help shift the incarcerated people’s trajectory. A study was conducted with 32 men who were enrolled in a guidance program during their incarceration. The findings are evaluated on the basis of two types of data: first, background and knowledge related to the goals of the project, and second, the pre- and post-test results that measured psychological dimensions related to self-perceptions, i.e., the feeling of self-efficacy, self-determination, causal attributions, self-esteem and self-image. Before the program, participants' self-presentations did not appear to be functional for accessing employment or training. The results suggest that the intervention leads to a more realistic and adaptive self-presentation for future reintegration. Prospects are put forward to more effectively support the professional integration of the prison population

Les objectifs posés sont alors de savoir dans quelle mesure l'usage des TIC pourrait avoir un impact positif sur l'insertion socio-professionnelle du jeune libanais. The youth of Lebanon, as elsewhere, are experiencing difficulties when seeking a job.However,the context is specific, since the country is experiencing economic problems, which must beadded the local political conflicts and a community and religious complex situation. At thesame time, information technology and communication (ICT) appear in speeches and multipleprojects as sources of new opportunities for the individual. For new uses and modes ofsocialization and skills they induce, they transform the professional and domestic activityorganization in different dimensions, as well as the human capital needs of the labormarket. The objectives raised then are research to what extent the use of ICT could have apositive impact on the socio-professional integration of young Lebanese. The nature of professional expertise has been widely debated in the literature. However it has been examined primarily from a dichotomy of perspectives - either from an experiential or a cognitive focus, without the attempt to integrate these, and other aspects of expertise, into an integrated and coherent model. This research is structured in two sections. The first part incorporates a philosophical discussion, which advances an integrated model of professional expertise. The second part uses a case study focused on the field of medical imaging to illustrate and refine the model. Ten professionals identified as experts in the various sub-specialties within medical imaging were guided through a sustained period of interviews and logging of critical incidents in order to elicit in-depth data in relation to the process of expertise. Findings showed that while expertise is situated in the context of practice, it incorporates several dimensions working together in an integrated, seamless fashion through the medium of the individual practitioner. The proposed model integrates five main aspects, namely: knowledge base; cognitive processes; internal integrative processes; interpersonal relationships; and professional practice. That is, it is a synthesis of a particular knowledge base, the cognitive processes, personality and internal processes of the practitioner. It manifests through, and builds on, interpersonal relationships with clients and other professionals, and is expressed through the actual doing of professional practice. It is through the reflexive examination of practice and management of change that professionals may transform these five integrated aspects into the qualitative state of expertise. One of the implications of these findings for higher education are that institutions providing professional education need to value all the dimensions of expertise and their effective integration in order to promote the learning required to advance professionals towards this level of practice.

Views on the nature and relevance of science education have changed significantly over recent decades. This has serious implications for the way in which science is taught in secondary schools, particularly with respect to teaching emerging topics such as biotechnology, which have a socio-scientific dimension and also require novel laboratory skills. It is apparent in current literature that there is a lack of adequate teacher professional development opportunities in biotechnology education and that a significant need exists for researchers to develop a carefully crafted and well supported professional development design which will positively impact on the way in which teachers engage with contemporary science. This study used a retrospective case study methodology to document the recent evolution of modern biotechnology education as part of the changing nature of science education; examine the adoption and implementation processes for biotechnology education by three secondary schools; and to propose an evidence based biotechnology professional development model for science educators. Data were gathered from documents, one-on-one interviews and focus group discussions. Analysis of these data has led to the proposal of a biotechnology professional development model which considers all of the key components of science professional development that are outlined in the literature, as well as the additional components which were articulated by the educators studied. This research is timely and pertinent to the needs of contemporary science education because of its recognition of the need for a professional development model in biotechnology education that recognizes and addresses the content knowledge, practical skills, pedagogical knowledge and curriculum management components.

Resumen
This study investigated international medical graduates (IMGs), registered between January 1, 2007 and April 14, 2011, at the Access Centre for Internationally Educated Health Professionals in Ontario. By way of logistic regression in a cross-sectional design, it was found that permanent residents who were recent immigrants had lesser chances of being employed full-time at registration (baseline). By way of survival analysis in a cohort design, it was found that younger IMGs who have been in Canada less than 5 years and who have taken the Medical Council of Canada Evaluating Exam (MCCEE) have the greatest chances of securing residency positions in Canada or the US, whereas IMGs from Eastern Europe, South Asia and Africa have lesser chances. It was revealed that registered IMGs are a vulnerable population, and certain groups may be disadvantaged due to underlying characteristics. These groups can be targeted for specific interventions.

Resumen
Addressing the acceptability of automated vehicles (AVs) implies, beyond technical, legal, or ethical aspects, the debate on perceptions and use intentions. The focus of this study is placed on questioning the technique by the social dimension: what acceptability profiles emerge from these perceptions? This study analyzes the determinant factors of AVs acceptability to identify different Portuguese population clusters. A survey was developed, in the scope of the AUTODRIVING project, with 501 participants. Three acceptability clusters were identified: Objectors; Ambivalent; and Enthusiasts. To complement these results, five focus groups were carried out, involving both professional and regular drivers. The results enabled the access to a situated point of view, considering the current experience of driving, particularly in the case of professional drivers. This study could contribute to deploying AVs, highlighting the importance of a contextualized analysis hic and nunc, and allowing to bring to the fore the demands and constraints of driving.

Resumen
This project was developed in the interest of social problems by inclusion of people with hearing loss in social environment. The investigation was carried out in two stages. The first, a diagnostic analysis focused on the learning of people in the social environment, instead of the individual with disabilities. The project has used a mixed research approach, in the qualitative approach, with semi-structured interviews to the social and family circle of people with hearing loss and to the individual himself. In addition, professionals in the area of learning sign language, expert professionals in special education, were consulted. In the quantitative aspect, surveys were carried out on a group of parents from the "Celite" Bilingual Educational Unit of Ambato city, to determine their willingness to learn sign language to promote social inclusion in their children. Likewise, it was possible to identify their behavior in the face of digital technologies. With the data obtained, it was possible to determine the feasibility of developing interactive applications. The resulting technological application, shows a friendly structure for learning basic phrases in sign language for early ages, focused on children without disabilities. The second stage of the research, with the interactive application for mobile devices running, it was possible to determine the feasibility of using new technologies and communication. The interactive application has audiovisual content in digital animations and interactive resources typical of an application on mobile devices. The App was tested using the target group, children and parents. Subsequently, it was evaluated through the application of surveys to parents, interpreters and people with hearing loss, who certified their experience as users and evaluated its relevance, where favorable results were collected for this initiative.

Resumen
The article presents the results of the methodological analysis of the existing practice of University training in terms of graduates' integrated competencies. The analysis was carried out at the general philosophical (system and genetic approaches), general scientific (process-effect approach), specific scientific (competence, personal-activity and situation-problem approaches) and methodological and procedural levels (integrative and interdisciplinary approaches). Systemic shortcomings that impede the educational productivity of the existing training practice in terms of the efficiency of educational integration are identified and described. The definition of educational integration is given as the process of integration of individual competencies acquired by a student in the process of mastering individual disciplines into a single system totality, which is an integral tool for the graduate's professional activity.

SiRobotics is a European-funded project that involves 17 partners among companies and universities, which worked together to design and develop novel solutions of collaborative assistive ICT robotics with advanced capabilities to support caregivers, users and families in healthcare services, while acting with a socially acceptable behavior. The aim of the project is to support weak users in their daily activities, whether they live in home environments or elder care facilities; assessing the progress of their physical and cognitive decline, i.e. cognitive frailty, dementia, mild cognitive impairment, etc., will enable early diagnosis, objective assessment, therapy control and rehabilitation. Si-Robotics system will be used within the context of elder care facilities or home environments, characterized by the presence of frail people requiring gentle and dedicated attention and interaction, assisted by professional and/or in-formal caregivers and medical operators, working with very scheduled and demanding tasks; a first prototype developed in all its physical and interactional features is being tested in a simulation with real end users. The paper will describe our design process and the following choices, involving the shape and aesthetics of the robot.

Resumen
As the skills required for creating architecture continue to broaden and deepen, integrating professional experience into architectural education will be increasingly necessary. This integration will create graduates that are more adaptable and versatile than through academic experience alone. Professional Practice discourse is an obvious venue for discussing and exploring the broader skills required for success and advancement in architectural practice, however, this paper entry discusses a shift of conventional practice to a practice that addresses community work – from production processes – through a semester-long studio experience. The studio was dedicated to the students’ professional development of social and environmental responsibility using a transdisciplinary and collaborative approach. The impacts of intersecting architectural practice and interdisciplinary collaborators with architectural education through community engagement dissolves the notion that these actors are mutually exclusive. Rather, what yielded is an inclusive approach to creating environments that are more socially conscious; benefitting both the students and community patrons.

Resumen
The article presents and describes innovative technologies of training in the professional training of Masters. For high-quality training of students of technical specialties, it becomes necessary to rethink the purpose, results of studying and means of teaching professional disciplines in modern educational conditions. The experience of implementing the chatbot tool in teaching the discipline “Mathematical modeling of socio-economic systems” in the educational and professional program 124 System Analysis is described. The characteristics of the generalized structure of the chatbot information system for investment analysis are presented and given: input information, information processing system, output information, which creates a closed cycle (system) of direct and feedback interaction. The information processing system is represented by accounting and analytical data management blocks. The investment analysis chatbot will help masters of the specialty system analysis to manage the investment process efficiently based on making the right decisions, understanding investment analysis in the extensive structure of financial management and optimizing risks in these systems using a working mobile application. Also, the chatbot will allow you to systematically assess the disadvantages and advantages of investment projects or the direction of activity of a system analyst, while increasing interest in performing practical tasks. A set of software for developing a chatbot integrated into training is installed: Kotlin programming, a library for network interaction Retrofit, receiving and transmitting data, linking processes using the HTTP API. Based on the results of the study, it is noted that the impact of integrating a chatbot into the training of Masters ensures the development of their professional activities, which gives them the opportunity to be competent specialists and contributes to the organization of high-quality training.

Building Information Modeling (BIM) can provide solutions to many challenges of asset management, such as missing data, incompatible software, and an unclear business process. However, current implementation of BIM in infrastructure projects has only considers limited factors, such as technology application and digital information delivery, while issues of system compatibility and information needs are still missing. Different aspects of a business are interdependent and an incompatible development of various factors might result in different levels of BIM implementation or even project failure. Comprehensive research is needed to explore the key factors and challenges of BIM implementation in infrastructure projects. This study conducted interviews and surveys with key stakeholders of infrastructure projects to explore the challenges and potential solutions of BIM implementation. Interviews were conducted with 37 professionals and surveys were conducted with 102 professional stakeholders, including owners, designers, contractors, and software vendors. Four main factors, challenges, and potential solutions were identified from content analysis of the interviews and further validated by the surveys. These factors include process factor (when), technology factor (how), people factor (who), and information factor (what). Corresponding solutions are proposed to refine the current workflow and practices.

Resumen
Progress of modern digital technologies enlarged the quantity of researches about implementation and usage of VR technologies in education process of higher educational establishments. The article provides analysis of best practices of simulation technologies application in maritime education. Absence of national research experience, evidence base for efficiency of new VR simulators operation leaves this issue open to be investigated in terms of researches on their performance effectiveness. The article proposes overview of advantages of VR technologies implementation aimed at building and shaping of future maritime specialists’ professional competences. Authors investigate potential application possibilities of interactive and representative potential of immersion digital technologies during education process at maritime educational establishments. Problem of VR technologies integration into education and training of future seafarers is highlighted, as well as possibility to use virtual courses in the process of future maritime specialists’ training. The article reveals prognostic validity of VR simulators used for building of professional competences.

Resumen
Based on literature review it was established that the use of augmented reality as an innovative technology of student training occurs in following directions: 3D image rendering; recognition and marking of real objects; interaction of a virtual object with a person in real time. The main advantages of using AR and VR in the educational process are highlighted: clarity, ability to simulate processes and phenomena, integration of educational disciplines, building an open education system, increasing motivation for learning, etc. It has been found that in the field of physical process modelling the Proteus Physics Laboratory is a popular example of augmented reality. Using the Proteus environment allows to visualize the functioning of the functional nodes of the computing system at the micro level. This is especially important for programming systems with limited resources, such as microcontrollers in the process of training future IT professionals. Experiment took place at Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University and Sumy State Pedagogical University named after A. S. Makarenko with students majoring in Computer Science (field of knowledge is Secondary Education (Informatics)). It was found that computer modelling has a positive effect on mastering the basics of microelectronics. The ways of further scientific researches for grounding, development and experimental verification of forms, methods and augmented reality, and can be used in the professional training of future IT specialists are outlined in the article.

Resumen
An analysis of the experience of professional training bachelors of electromechanics in Ukraine and abroad made it possible to determine that one of the leading trends in its modernization is the synergistic integration of various engineering branches (mechanical, electrical, electronic engineering and automation) in mechatronics for the purpose of design, manufacture, operation and maintenance electromechanical equipment. Teaching mechatronics provides for the meaningful integration of various disciplines of professional and practical training bachelors of electromechanics based on the concept of modeling and technological integration of various organizational forms and teaching methods based on the concept of mobility. Within this approach, the leading learning tools of bachelors of electromechanics are mobile Internet devices (MID) – a multimedia mobile devices that provide wireless access to information and communication Internet services for collecting, organizing, storing, processing, transmitting, presenting all kinds of messages and data. The authors reveals the main possibilities of using MID in learning to ensure equal access to education, personalized learning, instant feedback and evaluating learning outcomes, mobile learning, productive use of time spent in classrooms, creating mobile learning communities, support situated learning, development of continuous seamless learning, ensuring the gap between formal and informal learning, minimize educational disruption in conflict and disaster areas, assist learners with disabilities, improve the quality of the communication and the management of institution, and maximize the cost-efficiency. Bachelor of electromechanics competency in modeling of technical objects is a personal and vocational ability, which includes a system of knowledge, skills, experience in learning and research activities on modeling mechatronic systems and a positive value attitude towards it; bachelor of electromechanics should be ready and able to use methods and software/hardware modeling tools for processes analyzes, systems synthesis, evaluating their reliability and effectiveness for solving practical problems in professional field. The competency structure of the bachelor of electromechanics in the modeling of technical objects is reflected in three groups of competencies: general scientific, general professional and specialized professional. The implementation of the technique of using MID in learning bachelors of electromechanics in modeling of technical objects is the appropriate methodic of using, the component of which is partial methods for using MID in the formation of the general scientific component of the bachelor of electromechanics competency in modeling of technical objects, are disclosed by example academic disciplines “Higher mathematics”, “Computers and programming”, “Engineering mechanics”, “Electrical machines”. The leading tools of formation of the general scientific component of bachelor in electromechanics competency in modeling of technical objects are augmented reality mobile tools (to visualize the objects’ structure and modeling results), mobile computer mathematical systems (universal tools used at all stages of modeling learning), cloud based spreadsheets (as modeling tools) and text editors (to make the program description of model), mobile computer-aided design systems (to create and view the physical properties of models of technical objects) and mobile communication tools (to organize a joint activity in modeling).
