The main objective of this research was to contribute to the understanding of leisure experiences in protected wilderness areas. This was pursued through the interpretation and analysis of three variables; the personal notion of “Nature”, perception of benefits, and senses of place put forward by resident and non-resident visitors to three protected wilderness areas in southern Chile. ABSTRACT Objective To analyze the levels of physical activity and sedentary behavior in adolescents living in urban and rural areas. Methods An epidemiological, cross-section study with quantitative design, carried out at the regional level. Firstly, it presents the main characteristics of the Bulgarian welfare system and discusses access to social benefits for resident and non-resident nationals, and resident non-nationals. Secondly, it examines Bulgaria’s migration history and key migration policy developments. Finally, the chapter provides a detailed analysis of access to social benefits of these different groups across five policy areas – unemployment, health care, family benefits, pensions, and guaranteed minimum resources – and the links to Bulgaria’s migration policy.

Abstract Horse events are common in rural areas but their effects on local communities is an under-researched field. Research indicates that events can have economic and social effects on communities. Skagafjörður in North Iceland was the host community of the event analysed in this chapter. The region has about 4000 inhabitants. The event in this case is Landsmót, the National Championships of the Icelandic horse, in 2016. The event attracted about 8000 human visitors and 800 horses and lasted for a whole week, so the event was quite extensive compared with the size of the host community. The expectations and experiences of local residents were researched through interviews before the event and an online survey following the event. Findings indicated high expectations and positive experiences expressed by the locals of this rural community. The respondents seemed to be committed to the event and cared that the event was successful. A high number of local residents welcomed human and/or equine visitors during the event and participated in the event, in the roles of spectators, competitors and volunteers. It is suggested that such horse events can impact the image of the host community and social cohesion of the local community.

AbstractThis chapter scrutinises the social protection system in contemporary Turkey in order to examine how different groups of individuals access social benefits across five main policy areas—unemployment, health care, family allowances, pensions, and guaranteed minimum resources. The general conditions under which Turkish citizens and foreigners have access to social benefits in Turkey can be summarized as follows: (i) residence and employment status are important determinants of one’s access to social protection in Turkey; (ii) employment status generally determines the access to unemployment benefits, health care, pensions, and family benefits, while residence status is important for all social policy areas except pensions; (iii) a majority of social benefits provided for Turkish citizens are also available for foreign residents through their employment status; (iv) guaranteed income is granted based on residence in Turkey; (v) access to family benefits may vary depending on one’s occupation, residence, and nationality. The Turkish system of social protection is a fragmented one, with divisions based on occupational differences, residence, income level, and citizenship. This fragmented nature coupled with regional and global socio-economic risks (particularly large migration flows) make structural social security reforms inevitable in contemporary Turkey.

The aim of this paper was to analyze the degree of fragmentation of the checkerboard of land ownership to determine a priority ranking of areas intended for land consolidation in the commune of Białaczów, the Łódz Province (Voivodeship). The tourist city has been a space with few and weak reflections from the urban discipline. The developed planning, at best, has been uncritically exported from the residential city.
