Abstract People with dementia in nursing homes need their social environment in supporting their autonomy. This study explored how this relational autonomy is supported by staff for residents with dementia during morning care in nursing homes. Structured observations (n=1815) were carried out to assess how resident choice is supported within staff-resident interaction. Observation of morning care consisted of four main categories: ‘getting up’, ‘physical care’, ‘physical appearance’ and ‘breakfast’. In addition, qualitative field notes were taken to support observations. In total, 55 residents

There is an expectation of father involvement in contemporary parenting, but the literature still tends to emphasise parenting as a one parent-one child interaction, measuring involvement of the father in terms of time spent with his child. Resumen
AbstractIt is critical to understand, analyze and improve the work system of medical residents in order to support the care processes in which they are involved, as well as their educational processes. The discipline of human factors (or ergonomics) (HFE) provides systems concepts and methods to improve the multi-faceted work system of medical residents and, therefore, care processes and educational processes, and outcomes for both patients and residents. In this chapter, we apply the SEIPS (Systems Engineering Initiative for Patient Safety) model to the work system of residents, and use it to explain how the outcomes of patient safety and medical resident well-being are related. Various challenges need to be addressed in order to improve residents’ work system. In particular, it is critical to adopt a systems approach that can optimize multiple outcomes for a range of stakeholders. In line with the participatory ergonomics approach, we contend that residents have a critical role to play in improving their work system; we describe various ways that this can be accomplished.

AbstractTunisia is one of the developing countries which invested the most in its social protection system and upgraded it regularly since independence to include a larger share of the population. Given the importance of emigration for the Tunisian economy and society, various bilateral social security agreements have been signed with the main countries of destination to guarantee the rights of Tunisian emigrants. The Tunisian social security ensures the same entitlements as nationals to foreign residents who have formal contracts and contribute to social insurance. However, getting these contracts is not an easy task for foreigners. Undocumented foreigners do not have any entitlements and must rely on the support of NGOs or international organizations.

Resumen
AbstractThe introduction of the sharing economy has revolutionized resident-tourist relationships and provides further implications of destination sustainability. Built on several well-established theories, this conceptual study intends to develop a new and holistic framework to examine destination sustainability, focusing on the change of resident-tourist relationships. The framework is first guided by the stakeholder theory to identify the four key stakeholders in the new sharing economy context: residents, tourists, governments, and the sharing economy platform. With the collaboration theory and resource theory as a foundation, the framework then describes each stakeholder’s specific needs and resources. The service-dominant logic further supports service exchanges and value co-creation among stakeholders. The framework then adopts the capital theory approach to conceptualize destination sustainability in terms of human, social, natural and manufactured capital. Finally, three propositions are developed to justify the new peer-to-peer collaboration paradigm that leads to destination sustainability. The proposed framework is aligned with the six-pillar transformation in e-Tourism research and serves as an intelligent solution to destination sustainable development in the sharing economy context.

Resumen
AbstractRussia’s diaspora policies target a broad category of compatriots including both Russian nationals residing abroad and non-nationals with Soviet background, which are estimated at around 30 million people. Russian nationals abroad constitute about 1/5 of all compatriots residing abroad. Diaspora-related legislation and institutional framework are focused on compatriots living in former Soviet republics, so-called ‘Near Abroad’. Until 2006, diaspora policies addressed primarily cultural and language support of Russian-speaking compatriots abroad. In 2007, to compensate for the natural population decline, Russian authorities launched the State Program for Assisting Compatriots Residing Abroad in Their Voluntary Resettlement in the Russian Federation. Meanwhile, after 2010, the outflow of Russian nationals for permanent residence abroad increased. Between 2011 and 2017, the estimated 2.7 million people left the country to live somewhere beyond former Soviet republics. Russian citizens residing abroad have a right to pension benefits, one family-related benefit, and free access to public health services on the territory of Russia. Russian nationals permanently residing in the so-called ‘Far Abroad’ have been mostly beyond the outreach of the Russian authorities. Legislative initiatives targeting specifically this category of compatriots are rare, and often associated with control mechanisms rather than support measures.

Resumen
AbstractSocial exclusion refers to a process by which “individuals or groups...are denied the opportunity of participation, whether they actually desire to participate or not” (MacLeod et al. 2017; Barry 2002,p.16). In relation to old-age social exclusion, Tournier and Vidovicova (2019) have defined spatial and community exclusion as “the unintended reduction of mobility outside the personal home (spatial component) and of participation in local life (community component)”. Against this background, nursing home residents may be regarded as experiencing a heightened risk of spatial and community social exclusion because their need to be spatially included has not been prioritised in traditional nursing home architecture and urban planning. More recently, alternative concepts of integrating nursing home residents within the local communities have received increasing attention within policy and practice initiatives. The overall aim of this chapter is to present knowledge about innovative approaches to prevent social exclusion of nursing home residents from urban space and local life. Three cases are chosen from Denmark and one from The Netherlands. The four cases share the aim of reducing old-age social exclusion of nursing home residents. Based on the four cases, we discuss the different ways in which urban design and architecture can contribute to combatting social exclusion.

Abstract The challenge in the Oil&Gas industry to remain competitive in a low oil price whilst dealing with minimization of operational risk and uptime asset maximization is leading offshore Companies to evolve thought proactive and predictive maintenance approaches. In the event of unplanned intervention due to anomalies or warning messages at the dispatching center, the decision on the size of the support vessel and its utilization for straordinary maintenance could be time consuming with potential high cost impact, also due to loss of production. Even the new generation of remote condit

Basement membranes are planar extracellular matrices ubiquitous within tissues and serve roles in the organization, support and regulation of resident cell populations. The ocular lens capsule is experimentally accessible accounting for its wide use as a model in studies of basement membrane mechanics [1–3]. Optical tracking of passive osmotic swelling, unlike previously employed methods of determining the elasticity of the lens capsule, involves minimal manipulation of the lens, which is desirable when using smaller animal models, such as the mouse.

Resumen
Key Message Ontario long-term care (LTC) home residents have experienced disproportionately high morbidity and mortality, both from COVID-19 and from the conditions associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. There are several measures that could be effective in preventing COVID-19 outbreaks, hospitalizations, and deaths in Ontario’s LTC homes, if implemented. First, temporary staffing could be minimized by improving staff working conditions. Second, homes could be further decrowded by a continued disallowance of three- and four-resident rooms and additional temporary housing for the most crowded h
