Lors du montage d’un dispositif de paiement pour service environnemental lié à l’eau (PSE-bassin versant), l’identification précise des services environnementaux en jeu est une étape à forte dimension cognitive, mais souvent laissée implicite. À l’occasion d’un projet d’hydro-électricité à Madagascar dans un contexte conflictuel de déforestation, une recherche-action en partenariat a créé les conditions d’un rapprochement cognitif et d’une explicitation du service environnemental, grâce à des études écohydrologiques participatives, la mobilisation de savoirs locaux et des ateliers-débats multi-acteurs. Suivi d’autres études et négociations, cet apprentissage collectif a facilité l’aboutissement du premier contrat PSE-bassin versant-hydro-électricité dans ce pays, et permis d’y inclure des agriculteurs.

L’objectif de cette étude exploratoire était de tester les effets, au cours d’un stage d’une semaine, d’une combinaison d’imagerie mentale (s’imaginer se voir réaliser un service) et de discours interne cognitif (portant sur les instructions pour servir) sur le pourcentage de réussite et la qualité technique du service de joueurs débutants au tennis dans le but d’apporter des recommandations pratiques aux entraîneurs. Les résultats montrent une amélioration supplémentaire de la performance des services quand l’imagerie mentale est associée au discours interne.

Résumé Cet article s'inscrit dans l'effort de formation à l'intervention sociale interculturelle, effort entrepris depuis quelques années par des théoriciens et praticiens sociaux afin de dispenser des services plus adéquats aux personnes provenant de cultures diverses. Après avoir relevé les différents modèles d'approches théoriques et pratiques de la problématique, Vauteur propose d'enrichir cette formation par l'apport du double concept de la centration et de la décentration culturelle. Reconnaissant les répercussions négatives du sociocentrisme cognitif déformant, il suggère aux intervenantes et intervenants franco-ontariens des pistes pour éviter le danger associé à une pratique sociocentriste uniformisante, et pour soulever la question des bases culturelles du style de vie des populations à aider.

Objectif : La fatigue et les troubles cognitifs qui se manifestent après un cancer sont des effets indésirables qui, souvent, perdurent après les traitements et nuisent à la qualité de vie. L’étude vise à évaluer la faisabilité du neurofeedback et ses effets sur le fonctionnement cognitif et la fatigue des survivants du cancer, particulièrement la faisabilité des stratégies de recrutement, du protocole de recherche et des mesures de résultats. Devis : L’étude pilote de faisabilité est construite selon un devis avec groupe témoin mis sur liste d’attente pendant une période de 10 semaines. Les participantes servaient elles-mêmes de groupe témoin. Elles ont suivi deux séances de neurofeedback par semaine, pendant 10 semaines. Participants : L’échantillon était composé de survivantes du cancer du sein vivant à Kingston, en Ontario (n=16). Méthodologie : Les résultats ont été évalués à l’aide d’échelles d’autoévaluation validées, ainsi que par des tests neurobiologiques avant, pendant et après le traitement par neurofeedback. Résultats : La faisabilité du protocole de neurofeedback a été confirmée : la procédure s’accompagne d’une diminution significative des troubles cognitifs, de la fatigue, des troubles du sommeil et des symptômes psychologiques. Implications pour les services psychosociaux : Le neurofeedback pourrait se poser en thérapie complémentaire efficace et non invasive pour traiter les troubles cognitifs qui surviennent chez les survivantes du cancer du sein après les traitements.

L’intervention comportementale intensive (ICI) est implantée depuis 2003 dans les services publics québécois destinés aux enfants de 2 à 5 ans ayant un trouble du spectre de l’autisme. Ce choix a été fait sur la base de l’avis d’experts et des données probantes à l’effet que l’ICI représente l’intervention la plus efficace pour les jeunes enfants ayant ce type de trouble. Bien que les effets de l’ICI soient largement documentés, la perception des familles quant aux services d’ICI reçus demeure peu étudiée. À partir d’entretiens effectués auprès de 52 familles, le point de vue des parents concernant les services d’ICI a été abordé selon trois dimensions : l’appréciation générale, les effets perçus sur l’enfant et la famille ainsi que le niveau de satisfaction. Les données ont été recueillies à partir de questions ouvertes, d’un questionnaire structuré et de l’Échelle de satisfaction des services (CSQ-8). Les parents participants rapportent que l’équipe d’intervention, les modalités d’intervention ainsi que le contenu de l’intervention des services ICI sont les principaux points forts des services évalués. Des améliorations pourraient néanmoins être apportées à certaines modalités de dispensation des services, ainsi qu’à l’accessibilité, aux mouvements de personnel et à l’implication des parents. Tous les parents, sauf un, rapportent des effets positifs chez l’enfant, notamment sur les plans de la communication, du fonctionnement cognitif et des aspects sociaux. Les services ont aussi des effets sur le bien-être des parents, leurs habiletés parentales et la vie quotidienne familiale. Plus de 95 % des répondants se sont déclarés satisfaits ou très satisfaits des modalités du programme ICI. Le niveau général de satisfaction est également très élevé.

Description générale et but. Afin de répondre aux nouveaux défis que pose la pratique professionnelle en réadaptation, une étude a été effectuée au Québec auprès d'intervenants du domaine pour évaluer leurs besoins de formation continue au 2e cycle universitaire. Méthodologie. Au total, 99 personnes ont participé à des groupes de discussion et à des entrevues téléphoniques. Une analyse de contenu des discours a été réalisée. Résultats. Deux grandes catégories de compétences à acquérir ont été dégagées : le développement du « soi-outil », c'est-à-dire de l'amélioration de la capacité d'introspection de l'intervenant dans sa pratique professionnelle et le “ soi-producteur de services », à savoir l'acquisition de connaissances dans le domaine cognitif reliée à l'amélioration de la qualité des services. Par ailleurs, les participants ont favorisé une variété de modes pédagogiques dont des enseignements intensifs offerts de préférence les fins de semaine et des programmes courts de formation (9 à 15 crédits). Conséquences pour la pratique. Cette étude a permis de cibler les besoins particuliers des cliniciens pour faire face aux transformations actuelles des services de santé. La nécessité de créer un programme de 2e cycle en réadaptation a été mise en évidence et beaucoup d'enthousiasme face à la création d'un tel programme a été manifesté.

Résumé Cet article traite des interactions dans les systèmes d'apprentissage. Pragmatique, le point de vue est centré sur les méthodes de conception favorisant des interactions significatives entre les acteurs d'un système d'apprentissage, que ceux-ci soient des personnes intervenant directement sur les réseaux de télécommunication ou des services interactifs médiatisés dans des environnements logiciels. Le point de vue est aussi cognitif et pédagogique plutôt que médiatique. L'auteur s'intéresse à la modélisation des connaissances, à la scénarisation pédagogique et à leur relation par l'intermédiaire des habiletés et des compétences visées. Un processus de conception des scénarios pédagogiques est ainsi décrit comme l'ancrage d'un ensemble de prescriptions, de principes destinés aux concepteurs d'un système d'apprentissage afin de les aider à maximiser les interactions utiles à l'apprentissage.

Introduction Cette étude fournit une synthèse des caractéristiques sociodémographiques, psychosociales et sanitaires d'une vaste cohorte représentative des clients des soins à domicile en Ontario (âgés de 50 ans ou plus) atteints de démence et elle examine les variations de ces caractéristiques chez les clients atteints de maladies neurologiques concomitantes. Méthodologie Les clients ont été évalués à l'aide de l'Instrument d'évaluation des résidents – Soins à domicile (RAI-HC) entre janvier 2003 et décembre 2010. Les analyses descriptives fournissent la répartition de ces caractéristiques en comparant les clients atteints de démence et ceux de plusieurs autres groupes ainsi que ceux atteints d'autres maladies neurologiques documentées. Résultats Environ 22 % des clients (n = 104 802) avaient reçu un diagnostic de démence (âge moyen de 83 ans, 64 % de femmes) et un sur quatre parmi eux était atteint d'une maladie neurologique concomitante (AVC ou maladie de Parkinson la plupart du temps). Environ 43 % des clients atteints de démence n'habitaient pas avec leur principal aidant. Par rapport aux clients des groupes de comparaison, les clients atteints de démence présentaient des taux considérablement plus élevés de déficit cognitif et fonctionnel, d'agressivité, d'anxiété, d'errance et d'hallucinations ou de délire, avaient plus souvent un aidant en détresse et couraient un plus grand risque de placement en établissement. Par contre, ils étaient moins souvent atteints de diverses maladies chroniques et étaient moins nombreux à avoir eu recours à des services de santé récemment. Les symptômes de dépression étaient relativement fréquents chez les clients atteints de démence et chez ceux atteints d'une autre maladie neurologique. Conclusion Les clients atteints de maladies neurologiques concomitantes présentaient des profils cliniques bien particuliers illustrant la nécessité de personnaliser et d'assouplir les services de soins à domicile et d'améliorer les programmes de soutien pour les aidants.

Les déficits neuropsychologiques consécutifs à l’alcoolo-dépendance affectent principalement la mémoire épisodique, la mémoire de travail et les capacités visuospatiales, ainsi que les fonctions exécutives et motrices [1,2]. Ces déficits présents notamment en début de sevrage peuvent conduire à un bénéfice limité des ateliers psychothérapeutiques et entraver le maintien de l’abstinence des patients alcoolo-dépendants [3,4]. Ainsi, une évaluation neuropsychologique étendue conduite après sevrage semble essentielle afin d’orienter la prise en charge clinique de ces patients. Cependant, peu de services d’addictologie ont les ressources humaines et financières pour conduire une telle évaluation chez chaque patient. L’objectif de cette étude était donc d’examiner la validité et les qualités psychométriques d’un outil de dépistage : le BEARNI (pour Brief Examination of Alcohol-Related Neuropsychological Impairments). Cet outil a été spécialement développé pour être accessible au personnel soignant non psychologue dans l’objectif de conduire un dépistage rapide des déficits neuropsychologiques consécutifs à l’alcoolo-dépendance. Une batterie neuropsychologique étendue a servi de référence (gold standard) pour déterminer le profil cognitif des patients alcoolo-dépendants et examiner les qualités psychométriques du BEARNI. L’analyse factorielle exploratoire a permis de valider la structure interne de BEARNI en mettant en évidence 5 facteurs expliquant 60 % de la variabilité et reflétant les capacités visuospatiales, les fonctions exécutives, la mémoire verbale et la mémoire de travail verbale. La standardisation de chacun des sub-tests et des scores totaux à BEARNI, conduite par l’intermédiaire de courbes ROC, a mis en évidence que cet outil de dépistage présente une bonne efficacité diagnostique dans le dépistage des atteintes cognitives et motrices présentes chez les patients alcoolo-dépendants après sevrage. Cette étude montre la pertinence de l’utilisation de BEARNI en pratique clinique pour détecter la présence de troubles neuropsychologiques chez les patients alcoolo-dépendants et permettre d’orienter ceux ayant besoin d’une évaluation neuropsychologique étendue.

Children with communication needs are often allocated intervention services as a result of the relationship between their cognitive ability and language performance. Children with higher cognitive skills relative to language skills are considered promising candidates for language services. In contrast, children who are delayed in both cognitive and language abilities are considered poor candidates for intervention and are often excluded from services, or given a lower priority for services. This study examines the effects of intervention on one aspect of pragmatic development (discourse skills) following intervention for two groups of young children with delayed language development: one group with measured cognitive performance above language performance, and the other group with similar delays in both language and cognitive performance. Repeated measures analyses of variance indicated significant differences between groups for two of 15 measures derived from language samples. Both favored the children with equivalent delays in language and cognition. These findings do not support the notion that children with equivalent delays in cognition and language development are poor candidates for language intervention. Service delivery and policy implications are discussed.

Les processus métier (BP) sont les piliers fondamentaux des organisations, englobant toute une gamme d'activités structurées visant à atteindre des objectifs organisationnels distincts. Ces processus, caractérisés par une multitude de tâches, d'interactions et de flux de travail, offrent une méthodologie structurée pour superviser les opérations cruciales dans divers secteurs. Une découverte essentielle pour les organisations a été la reconnaissance de la valeur profonde inhérente aux données produites pendant ces processus. L'analyse des processus, une discipline spécialisée, explore ces journaux de données, facilitant une compréhension plus profonde et l'amélioration des BP. Cette analyse peut être catégorisée en deux perspectives : le niveau d'instance, qui se concentre sur les exécutions individuelles de processus, et le niveau de processus, qui examine le processus global.Cependant, l'application de l'analyse des processus pose des défis aux utilisateurs, impliquant la nécessité d'accéder aux données, de naviguer dans les API de bas niveau et d'utiliser des méthodes dépendantes d'outils. L'application dans le monde réel rencontre souvent des complexités et des obstacles centrés sur l'utilisateur.Plus précisément, l'analyse de niveau d'instance exige des utilisateurs qu'ils accèdent aux données d'exécution de processus stockées, une tâche qui peut être complexe pour les professionnels de l'entreprise en raison de l'exigence de maîtriser des langages de requête complexes tels que SQL et CYPHER. En revanche, l'analyse de niveau de processus des données de processus implique l'utilisation de méthodes et d'algorithmes qui exploitent les données d'exécution de processus extraites des systèmes d'information. Ces méthodologies sont regroupées sous le terme de techniques d'exploration de processus. L'application de l'exploration de processus confronte les analystes à la tâche complexe de sélection de méthodes, qui consiste à trier des descriptions de méthodes non structurées. De plus, l'application des méthodes d'exploration de processus dépend d'outils spécifiques et nécessite un certain niveau d'expertise technique.Pour relever ces défis, cette thèse présente des solutions basées sur l'IA, mettant l'accent sur l'intégration de capacités cognitives dans l'analyse des processus pour faciliter les tâches d'analyse tant au niveau de l'instance qu'au niveau du processus pour tous les utilisateurs. Les objectifs principaux sont doubles : premièrement, améliorer l'accessibilité des données d'exécution de processus en créant une interface capable de construire automatiquement la requête de base correspondante à partir du langage naturel. Ceci est complété par la proposition d'une technique de stockage adaptée et d'un langage de requête autour desquels l'interface doit être conçue. À cet égard, nous introduisons un méta-modèle graphique basé sur le graphe de propriétés étiquetées (LPG) pour le stockage efficace des données. Deuxièmement, pour rationaliser la découverte et l'accessibilité des techniques d'exploration de processus, nous présentons une architecture orientée services.Pour valider notre méta-modèle graphique, nous avons utilisé deux ensembles de données de processus accessibles au public disponibles à la fois au format CSV et OCEL. Ces ensembles de données ont été essentiels pour évaluer les performances de notre pipeline de requêtes en langage naturel. Nous avons recueilli des requêtes en langage naturel auprès d'utilisateurs externes et en avons généré d'autres à l'aide d'outils de paraphrase. Notre cadre orienté services a été évalué à l'aide de requêtes en langage naturel spécialement conçues pour les descriptions de services d'exploration de processus. De plus, nous avons mené une étude de cas avec des participants externes pour évaluer l'expérience utilisateur et recueillir des commentaires. These processes, characterized by a plethora of tasks, interactions, and workflows, offer a structured methodology for overseeing crucial operations across diverse sectors. A pivotal insight for organizations has been the discernment of the profound value inherent in the data produced during these processes. Process analysis, a specialized discipline, ventures into these data logs, facilitating a deeper comprehension and enhancement of BPs. This analysis can be categorized into two perspectives: instance-level, which focuses on individual process executions, and process-level, which examines the overarching process.However, applying process analysis in practice poses challenges for users, involving the need to access data, navigate low-level APIs, and employ tool-dependent methods. Real-world application often encounters complexities and user-centric obstacles.Specifically, instance-level analysis demands users to access stored process execution data, a task that can be intricate for business professionals due to the requirement of mastering complex query languages like SQL and CYPHER. Conversely, process-level analysis of process data involves the utilization of methods and algorithms that harness process execution data extracted from information systems. These methodologies collectively fall under the umbrella of process mining techniques. The application of process mining confronts analysts with the intricate task of method selection, which involves sifting through unstructured method descriptions. Additionally, the application of process mining methods depends on specific tools and necessitates a certain level of technical expertise.To address these challenges, this thesis introduces AI-driven solutions, with a focus on integrating cognitive capabilities into process analysis to facilitate analysis tasks at both the instance level and the process level for all users. The primary objectives are twofold: Firstly, to enhance the accessibility of process execution data by creating an interface capable of automatically constructing the corresponding database query from natural language. This is complemented by proposing a suitable storage technique and query language that the interface should be designed around. In this regard, we introduce a graph metamodel based on Labeled Property Graph (LPG) for efficient data storage. Secondly, to streamline the discovery and accessibility of process mining techniques, we present a service-oriented architecture. This architecture comprises three core components: an LPG meta-model detailing process mining methods, a service-oriented REST API design tailored for these methods, and a component adept at matching user requirements expressed in natural language with appropriate services.For the validation of our graph metamodel, we utilized two publicly accessible process datasets available in both CSV and OCEL formats. These datasets were instrumental in evaluating the performance of our NL querying pipeline. We gathered NL queries from external users and produced additional ones through paraphrasing tools. Our service-oriented framework underwent an assessment using NL queries specifically designed for process mining service descriptions. Additionally, we carried out a use case study with external participants to evaluate user experience and to gather feedback. We publically provide the evaluation results to ensure reproducibility in the studied area

Le traumatisme craniocérébral (TCC) est une condition médicale sérieuse qui découle des suites d’un accident et entraîne son lot de complications dans différentes sphères de fonctionnement, bouleversant entre autres la dynamique familiale en inversant les rôles de chacun. Les personnes vivant avec les séquelles (tant physiques que neuropsychologiques) d’un TCC sont de plus en plus nombreuses en raison des avancées médicales et de la rapidité avec laquelle on dispense désormais les soins préhospitaliers d’urgence. De ce fait, bon nombre de victimes, souvent de jeunes adultes, nécessitent de l’assistance pour des tâches courantes et ce, sur une base quotidienne (Lefebvre et al., 2005). En raison des atteintes neuropsychologiques conséquentes à un traumatisme modéré ou sévère, cuisiner de façon autonome représente une activité de la vie quotidienne pouvant s’avérer difficile pour des personnes ayant subi un traumatisme craniocérébral. L’objectif de ce projet était de comparer le taux d’efficacité d’une assistance technologique, en l’occurrence une cuisinière intelligente, avec celle d’une intervention humaine dans un contexte de réalisation d’une tâche de cuisine. Le protocole de recherche impliquait la réalisation d’une recette à deux reprises, soit une fois avec chaque mode d’assistance. Au total, cinq participants âgés entre 34 et 70 ans ont complété les expérimentations et ont démontré de l’ouverture en regard de cette technologie. Les résultats ont démontré que le prototype de cuisinière intelligente utilisé pour réaliser cette étude était bel et bien en mesure de fournir l’assistance nécessaire aux personnes TCC et ce, peu importe leur profil cognitif. Cette recherche a permis de constater l’efficacité de l’outil technologique, bien que d’autres recherches seront nécessaires dans le futur afin de fournir une cuisinière qui soit sécuritaire et fiable à d’autres populations présentant diverses atteintes cognitives.

Objectifs: Peu de données objectives et représentatives au niveau national rapportent l’influence d’un trouble cognitif sans démence (cognitive impairment no dementia; CIND) sur l’utilisation des services de santé. L’objectif principal de l’étude était de comparer sur une période de trois ans le patron d’utilisation des services de santé des aînés ayant un CIND prévalent ou incident à celui des aînés sans CIND. Un deuxième objectif était d’examiner l’effet modérateur de la dépression et de l’anxiété sur l’utilisation des services. Méthode: Des données ont été recueillies auprès d’un échantillon de 2265 personnes âgées vivant dans la communauté de la province de Québec. Le CIND était apparié aux données médicales (utilisation des services de santé) de la Régie d’assurance maladie. Des régressions logistiques multinomiales ajustées pour l’influence de plusieurs variables sociodémographiques, de santé et du réseau social ont été réalisées pour chaque service de santé. L’effet de l’interaction entre le CIND et la dépression/anxiété était également examiné. Résultats principaux: Le CIND prévalent était associé à un plus grand nombre de jours de consommation d’un anxiolytique/sédatif/hypnotique. Le CIND incident menait à de plus longues hospitalisations. La dépression augmentait la probabilité de consulter un gériatre, un psychiatre ou un neurologue, de même que de se rendre à l’urgence. Toutefois, la dépression diminuait la probabilité de consulter un médecin généraliste. La présence de dépression ou d’anxiété, couplée à un CIND incident, n’augmentait pas la probabilité de consommer un antidépresseur, alors que la présence de CIND sans ces conditions psychiatriques augmentait cette probabilité. Discussion: En comparaison aux personnes âgées ayant un fonctionnement cognitif normal, les aînés ayant un CIND ont un patron d’utilisation des services de santé distinct. L’évaluation de la cognition et des conditions psychiatriques à des moments clés pourrait favoriser une utilisation plus optimale de certains services de santé.<br>Objectives: Little objective and nationally representative data are available concerning the influence of cognitive impairment no dementia (CIND) on utilization of healthcare services. The main objective was to compare the use of healthcare services over three years, between elders with current or incident CIND and those without CIND. A second objective was to evaluate the moderating effect of depression and anxiety on utilization of healthcare services. Methods: Cross-sectional and longitudinal data from a population-based survey of 2265 older adults living in Quebec were used. CIND was linked with medical records from public health insurance plan. Multinomial logistic regressions adjusted for relevant socio-demographic, social network and health-related confounders were conducted for each service. Interaction between CIND and depression/anxiety was also examined. Main results: Current CIND was a predictor of longer anxiolytic/sedative/hypnotic medication use. Incident CIND led to longer hospital stay. Depression raised the likelihood of frequenting geriatricians, psychiatrists or neurologists and emergency department, but lessened the likelihood of visiting general practitioners. The addition of the psychiatric conditions to the incident CIND did not increase the likelihood of consuming antidepressants, while the incident CIND cases without psychiatric conditions increased this likelihood. Discussion: Compared to older adults without CIND, older adults with CIND have a distinct utilization of healthcare services. Evaluation of cognition and psychiatric conditions at key moments could allow a more efficient use of health resources.

Tirant parti de notre expérience avec une approche traditionnelle des environnements d'assistance ambiante (AAL) qui repose sur l'utilisation de nombreuses technologies hétérogènes dans les déploiements, cette thèse étudie la possibilité d'une approche simplifiée et complémentaire, ou seul un sous-ensemble hardware réduit est déployé, initiant un transfert de complexité vers le côté logiciel. Axé sur les aspects de raisonnement dans les systèmes AAL, ce travail a permis à la proposition d'un moteur d'inférence sémantique adapté à l'utilisation particulière à ces systèmes, répondant ainsi à un besoin de la communauté scientifique. Prenant en compte la grossière granularité des données situationnelles disponible avec une telle approche, un ensemble de règles dédiées avec des stratégies d'inférence adaptées est proposé, implémenté et validé en utilisant ce moteur. Un mécanisme de raisonnement sémantique novateur est proposé sur la base d'une architecture de raisonnement inspiré du système cognitif. Enfin, le système de raisonnement est intégré dans un framework de provision de services sensible au contexte, se chargeant de l'intelligence vis-à-vis des données contextuelles en effectuant un traitement des événements en direct par des manipulations ontologiques complexes. <p>The notion of service design as a design field has emerged during the last 10-15 years and seems to be growing more and more; a 2007 textbook on interaction design states: “The new frontier of interaction design is services” (Saffer, 2007, p. 174). Since the field is so young, there still are areas which hardly have been explored. One of these is cultural effects on service expectations. This thesis aims to help to fill in the knowledge gap by applying a model of cultural differences. The model used is the one developed by Geert Hofstede, which has been proved to be valid within a large number of varyingfields. This was done through the research question “Is Hofstede’s model applicable to service design in general, and individualization of services in particular?”.</p><p>The question was explored through two parallel research processes; a quantitative questionnaire distributed via the web and a qualitative evaluation of 47 different service web sites. The qualitative evaluation was done through a new method called Cultural Walkthrough. Four key countries were chosen; the questionnaire was aimed at natives of these countries and the web sites all came from these countries. The countries in question were Germany, India, the United Kingdom and the USA.</p><p>The results indicate that Hofstede’s model can’t be applied to service design straight off. Neither can they be used as a basis to deem the want for the possibility to individualize services, which seems to be dependent on the individual. The results indicate a large number of interesting questions for further research.</p>

Resumen
“Co-creation of values” is a new common notion of analyzing and producing services. The first objective of the present paper is to provide an underlying theory. Introducing what we call FNS diagram, we have theorized that both a service provider and customers, respectively, create their own values out of situated interactions between both. We argue that the notion of “service” is the whole process in which a provider and the customers create their own values out of communication with each other. This is a paradigm shift from the old “provide and consume” model to “communicate and co-creation”.What cognition is needed, then, in order for “communication and co-creation” to work? We argue that sharing meta-cognition between a provider and customers is a driving force for promotion of communication and co-creation. Meta-cognitive verbalization makes one’s problem-finding attitude active, and thus encourages eagerness to communicate and find something significant in others’ meta-cognition.

In recent years, digital technologies such as artificial intelligence found their way into existing services, while at the same time providing the basis for entirely new possibilities. However, our understanding of the development of services based on these technologies is still limited. Due to the high complexity, they can rarely be developed within the boundaries of a single company or on the basis of knowledge from a single discipline. Building on the relevant literature, we derive a sound understanding of cognitive service systems from existing perspectives. Following an iterative process, we conducted several interdisciplinary workshops and analysed existing development approaches, which were adapted and recombined into a process model for cognitive service development. Our work contributes to a common understanding of cognitive service systems. By introducing a reference model that addresses the specific requirements for the successful development of cognitive services, we take a first step towards a systematic and holistic development of cognitive service systems that supports companies in this complex task.

The rapid development and popularization of logistics digitalization in China risks excluding the elderly who often find it hard to use digital express services due to the lack of digital knowledge and physical impairment. Design for an ageing population has become an essential social requirement. Through desk research, observation, interviews and thematic analysis, this paper provides insights into the physical and psychological barriers of elderly users in digital express service scenarios. It examines user needs from the dimensions of five barriers: perception, physical, mobility, cognitive, and psychological. This study puts forward the design strategy and experience framework model of age-friendly express services from service process, space design, hardware design, interaction design and emotional durability design. We improve service acceptance, emotional satisfaction by enhancing information recognizability, understandability, operation convenience and spatial accessibility. The optimized service system proposes a new service experience for the Cainiao Post to improve the satisfaction of elderly users.

Diagrams used in design processes exclusively serve the resultant object of the work, and we often understand diagrams in terms of how they might serve the discipline within which they are intended to function. In this sense, diagrams are a means to an objective that is distant from, and external to, the designer. However, diagramming intended for reinforcing cognitive capacities required for abstract thinking, comprehension of increasingly complex conditions surrounding a problem, and strategic planning reorients the intention back towards the student-architect. At the same time, this focus on process within the architect suggests a stratum of architectural definition that is innately internal, manifested within the conceptual, the virtual, and through the imagination. What occurs if we reverse our focus from the diagram’s service to architecture to the diagram’s service to the architect? How does the diagrammatic process serve the architect? How does diagramming develop understanding of architecture by shaping cognitive utility towards its concepts? How can we fold this into pedagogy and knowledge production to establish methods towards expansion of architectural cognition?

In response to the development of financial technology, the financial industry has already widely used self-service technology to ensure consumers’ convenience when conducting transactions. Banks have then successively applied cardless services to ATMs to provide advanced and convenient transactions for consumers. However, the use of cardless services has not been universalised. Therefore, this research compares the usability of well-known ATM cardless withdrawal services and explores why it has not been universalised. This study evaluates the usability and user experience design of the top three ATMs in Taiwan. The evaluation requires three methods. Firstly, we request users to perform two experimental task operations. The tasks include cardless service applications and cardless cash withdrawals. We also conducted behavioural mapping while users were performing their tasks to obtain usability insight. Next, we use the Single Ease Questionnaire, System Usability Scale, and Net Promoter Score to obtain users' thoughts on user behaviour, usability issues, difficulty, and satisfaction while operating the ATM cardless service interface. Lastly, we conduct a semi-structured interview to obtain insights through user evaluation, advantages and disadvantages of the interface.As a result, we found that Bank A had the best usability performance among the three banks, with a SUS score of 81 (B class) and an NPS score of 30. Furthermore, Bank A provides two entrances in the cardless service application, while Banks B and C only provide one entrance. The results show that various entrances align with the user's cognition of the operation process and can effectively reduce the time of operational tasks and the number of errors. However, in the cash withdrawal task, the information architecture of Bank A's banking app for cardless withdrawal is a layer lesser than Bank B and C. Also, users only need three steps to obtain the cardless withdrawal serial number in Bank A's banking app. In comparison, Bank B need six steps, whereas Bank C need seven steps. Therefore, short information architecture and process can effectively improve usability and users' satisfaction.However, in the cardless services application task, Bank's A application entrance is placed at a level beyond the user's expected cognition, resulting in a gradual decline in user confidence during the operation. In addition, users are unaware that bank cards are required as an authentication tool required for applying cardless services. As a result, most users feel confused whenever they are required to provide their bank card during the application process. Also, users are unable to complete tasks cognitively in the shortest process. Furthermore, all three ATM systems did not provide clear guidance steps at the appropriate time. Finally, even if Bank A's cardless withdrawal has the best performance, most users still prefer traditional password authentication for ATM transactions.The research results help understand users' operation behaviour of ATMs' current cardless service interface as a reference for subsequent design improvements.

Ce numéro d’Aux Frontières de l’assainissement s’appuie sur le concept de WASH transformationnel pour explorer et décrire brièvement ce que l’on peut attendre des parties prenantes à la mise en oeuvre des services d’EAH pour soutenir le développement infantile. Frontières explore les multiples façons qui font qu’une hygiène et un assainissement insuffisants ainsi qu’un manque de propreté de l’environnement peuvent affecter le développement physique et cognitif des enfants. Il va plus loin que l’hygiène des mains pour considérer l’hygiène alimentaire et la propreté de l’environnement en général et il va au-delà des excreta humains pour considérer les déjections animales. Concrètement, ce que cela veut dire est alors discuté pour décrire comment le secteur de l’EAH peut améliorer les pratiques pour mieux soutenir les améliorations apportées au développement infantile et, en particulier, les opportunités qui s’offrent aux enfants pour survivre et s’épanouir.

The primary purpose of this paper is to introduce essential elements of cognitive information processing (CIP) theory, research, and practice as they existed at the time of this writing. The introduction that follows describes the nature of career choices and career interventions, and the integration of theory, research, and practice. After the introduction, the paper continues with three main sections that include CIP theory related to vocational behavior, research related to vocational behavior and career intervention, and CIP theory related to career interventions. The first main section describes CIP theory, including the evolution of CIP theory, the nature of career problems, theoretical assumptions, the pyramid of information processing domains, the CASVE Cycle, and the use of the pyramid and CASVE cycle. The second main section describes CIP theory-based research in examining vocational behavior and establishing evidence-based practice for CIP theory-based career interventions. The third main section describes CIP theory related to career intervention practice, including theoretical assumptions, readiness for career decision making, readiness for career intervention, the differentiated service delivery model, and critical ingredients of career interventions. The paper concludes with regularly updated sources of information on CIP theory.

En una serie de trabajos publicados en 2008 en la revista científica The Lancet, se señala que los daños provocados por la desnutrición en los primeros años de vida no solamente llevan a rezagos permanentes, sino que además pueden afectar a las generaciones futuras. Los primeros 1000 años de vida (desde el embarazo hasta aproximadamente los 2 años de edad) de niños y niñas constituyen una ventana única de intervención en desarrollo infantil temprano para la estimulación y para orientar a padres en prácticas de paternidad. Como respuesta a los retos persistentes de la situación del desarrollo físico, cognitivo y socioemocional de la niñez en Bolivia, el gobierno está implementando el Programa de Desarrollo Infantil Temprano "Crecer Bien para Vivir Bien". La información presentada en esta nota técnica analiza los datos de línea de base de la evaluación de impacto para el componente de fortalecimiento de centros infantiles del programa. El estudio representa un primer esfuerzo de levantar datos estandarizados sobre la calidad de centros infantiles en Bolivia, en particular en los departamentos de Chuquisaca y Potosí.

The article reveals the problems of mastering by future specialists of the project methodology of creating pedagogical situations in higher education institutions as a means of improving the quality of education. Objectives of the article: to determine the influence of the project method on the creation of pedagogical situations in the process of teaching students; the choice of logic and mechanism of design actions depends on the purpose and the initial conceptual position regarding the subject reincarnates; to study the influence of pedagogical situations on the quality of education in the higher pedagogical school; to diagnose the implementation of the projects method and pedagogical situations in the process of education at the university. The project method provides the presence of a problem that requires integrated knowledge and research for its solution. The results of the planned activities should have practical, theoretical and cognitive significance. Modeling of pedagogical situations is the process of formation of situations-models which simulate the state and dynamics of the educational process and fix the contradiction between the achieved and desired in the personality development in a certain time interval. During the forming experiment, pedagogical situations were used to form the professional competence of the future specialist.

At present the information and communication technologies in education can be a catalyst in solving important social problems connected with increasing the educational resources and services availability and quality, real and equal opportunities in getting education for citizens despite their residence, social status and income. One of the most important education tasks is to develop students’ active cognitive attitude to knowledge. Cognitive activity in universities is a necessary stage in preparing for further professional life. The solution of task of formation of ecological competence of mining profile engineer requires the reasonable selection of the means of information and communication technologies conducing formation of ecological competence. Pressing task is constructive and research approach to preparation of future engineers to performance of professional duties in order to make them capable to develop engineering projects independently and exercise control competently. The relevance of the material covered in the article, due to the need to ensure the effectiveness of the educational process in the preparation of the future Mining Engineers. We analyze the source with problems of formation of ecological competence. The article focuses mainly general-purpose computer system support learning Moodle, which allows you to organize individual and collective work of students to master the specialized course teaching material used in teaching special course "Environmental Geoinformatics" in the implementation of educational research.

This document offers a synthesis of insights from recent research and design activities conducted by ideas42 through Breakthrough RESEARCH, Breakthrough ACTION, and other projects across nine different low- and middle-income settings about the behavioral roots of challenges health care providers face in providing high quality services. We discuss how the physical and social environment in which they work and live sends signals to providers about what is important, how they can navigate difficulties, and how well they are performing. We discuss how experiences outside the health facility impact how providers approach their professional duties. We also discuss how pervasive time and resource constraints create a cognitive and emotional burden that gets in the way of what they can do, even within these constraints. For each challenge, we also share lessons emerging from this research about about how global health practitioners can address these challenges through program design and implementation.

Public transportation is an essential part of many older adults’ lives, but the pandemic presented new challenges for the vulnerable population. Adults aged 65 years and older experienced additional challenges, such as limited mobility options (e.g., lack of buses or trains in service due a combination of government lockdowns, fear of contracting or spreading the virus, and driver shortages in certain areas) because of the pandemic, which may have resulted in more age-related declines in perceptual, cognitive, and physical functioning. This study explores how older adults living in major metropolitan cities in the United States used and perceived public transportation during the COVID-19 pandemic. The research team conducted an online survey through the Amazon Mechanical Turk (MTurk) crowdsourcing marketplace, a platform that offers opportunities to recruit a larger number of participants from diverse geographic locations. 260 respondents completed the survey. Eligibility included: (1) residing in the United States, (2) being aged 55 years or older (the oldest age that can be selected on MTurk), and (3) having an approval rating of 90% or above (i.e., the percentage of the workers’ submitted tasks approved by survey requesters, offered by the MTurk platform). Overall, older adults reported that they had changed travel patterns since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, experienced challenges in using public transportation, and expressed concerns about catching the SARS-CoV-2 virus while using public transportation. Mobile technology (e.g., a transportation navigation app) was perceived as a good option for finding public transportation information, but needs improved user experience and accessibility. These findings may help transit agencies develop effective strategies for improving transportation services and increasing policymakers’ awareness of older adults’ need for accessible public transportation.
