I propose a method of categorizing texts according to temporal duration and use the resulting methodology as a lens to better understand student composing processes. This study analyzes the market share of the top 10 home builders in nine Metropolitan Statistical Areas, along with fourteen other independent variables, to find a statistical relationship with median home sales price. Through a stepwise regression of the independent variables it is determined that there is no correlation between median home sale price and market share of the top 10 home builders. In the stepwise regression two variables are found to be correlated to median homes sales price: Owner Occupancy Percentage and Residential Construction Wages, a data point compiled for this study. This thesis details novel analysis methods that were applied to investigate shale and clay mineral reactivity as they come in contact with water-based drilling fluids. Six commercial additives were tested and their shale stabilizing potential was investigated through the use of two advanced particle analyzers – FBRM M500 and Malvern Mastersizer 3000. The experimental study and subsequent results indicate that these novel tools can indeed be used to analyze shale hydration and dispersion through particle analysis.
