Résumé :
Do essence-based accounts of necessity and Vetter’s potentiality-based account of possibility in fact lead to the same result, viz., a single derived notion of necessity that is interdefinable with possibility or vice versa? And does each approach independently have the ability to reach its desired goal without having to rely on the primitive notion utilized by the other? In this essay, I investigate these questions and Vetter’s responses to them. Contrary to the “separatist” position defended by Vetter, I argue that there are reasons to favor “Combination”, according to which an essence-based

PurposeThe distinction between formality and informality has been a topic central for many scholarly fields. Without rejecting the usefulness of this distinction, the authors argued that instead of analyzing an empirical situation in terms of what is formal and what is informal, it could sometimes be fruitful to focus on what is stable and what is fluid.Design/methodology/approachThis paper reports the results of review and analysis of secondary sources on the distinction between formality and informality, followed by a conceptualization of an alternative distinction between fluidity and stabi

Introduction: The EBOVAC-Salone trial of a candidate Ebola two-dose vaccine regimen (Ad.ZEBOV/MVA-BN-Filo) was conducted in a research-naïve setting in rural northern Sierra Leone, where no local laboratory reference values (LRV) had been established. In the first stage (n = 43) of the trial, laboratory screening was based on internationally-derived protocol LRV (PLRV). For postrecruitment participant care, LRV derived from a West African population (WALRV) were used. We assessed what difference using WALRV rather than PLRV for screening might have made to the eligibility of volunteers. METHOD

The economic viability of high-quality plastics versus recyclable plastics involves various factors. High- quality plastics often provide better performance than recyclable plastics, but it is also costlier due to their production processes and materials. Recyclable plastics. They are cheaper production. They lower durability or performance. Economic viability requires considering multiple aspects like production costs, market demands, environmental impact, recycling, infrastructure, regulations, and end-user preferences. Recycled plastics, often contain higher levels of chemicals such as toxi

Pembrolizumab received its initial regulatory approval for the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) at weight-based dosing (2 mg/kg every 3 weeks (Q3W)), as employed in pivotal clinical trials demonstrating its efficacy and safety. This dosing regimen was later replaced by the currently approved flat-dosing (200 mg Q3W or 400 mg Q6W) in all indications, potentially increasing drug use. New products can evoke anticipatory emotions such as hope and anxiety. On the one hand, consumers might hope that innovative offerings will produce goal-congruent outcomes; on the other hand, they might also be anxious about possible outcomes that are goal-incongruent. The authors demonstrate the provocative and counterintuitive finding that strong anxiety about potentially goal-incongruent outcomes from a new product actually enhances (vs. weakens) consequential adoption intentions (Study 1) and actual adoption (Studies 2 and 3) when hope is also strong. Abstract Plasma Cells produce Abs. Recently, PCs were reported to be the major source of B-cell IL-10, and absence of PCs worsened EAE, implying that PCs underlie “Breg” activity. To test the hypothesis in transplantation, we transplanted Bc islets into chemically diabetic B6 Blimp-1fl/flCD19-Cre+/− (PCKO) mice. Surprisingly, allograft survival (GS) was prolonged by ~42% in untreated PCKO vs. Cre-neg Ctl recipients (Mean GS: 27 vs. 19d; p<0.05). This prompted us to re-examine the EAE model where the regulatory role of PCs was first identified. Surprisingly, in our hands, the severity of

Background: The prevalence of acute cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) in cancer patients is steadily increasing and represents a significant reason for admission to the emergency department (ED). Methods: We conducted a prospective observational study, enrolling consecutive patients with cancer presenting to a tertiary oncological ED and consequently admitted to the oncology ward. Two groups of patients were identified based on main symptoms that lead to ED presentation: symptoms potentially related to CVD vs. symptoms potentially not related to CVD. Abstract Introduction: Defining the optimal treatment strategy for elderly patients (pts) with diffuse large cell lymphoma (DLCL) represents a major challenge, since age, end-organ damage and comorbidities often preclude the delivery of full-dose intensive therapy. Objective means to prospectively identify those pts who can be safely treated with a curative intent are still lacking. We have analysed the performance of a comprehensive geriatric assessment (CGA) in defining those elderly DLCL pts which could tolerate an intensive and potentially curative treatment approach. Résumé :
Models with an occasionally binding credit constraint have been used to analyze financial crises and previous literature has highlighted that the specific form of this constraint is decisive for policymaking conclusions. What are the welfare effects of implementing a policy that is appropriate for a specific type of constraint when the economy is actually facing a different one? We provide an answer by analyzing the implementation either of ex ante (or macroprudential) vs. ex post debt taxes in four possible collateral constraint cases (depending on whether creditors assess current or future a
