Finally, the absolute deviation of consumption growth from its mean exhibits one break in U.S. data, and the mean of the absolute deviations has fallen by about 30%. Depressive symptoms are influenced not only by absolute income but also by relative income, particularly among older adults. The present article, guided by relative deprivation theory and the relative position hypothesis, examines the relationship between neighborhood relative income and depressive symptoms in older adults. This study utilized a merged dataset from the American Community Survey data and the RAND Health and Retirement Study data (N = 3071; age 65+). Neighborhood relative income was measured by calculating the difference between the natural logarithm of an individual’s household

Abstract The present study aimed to analyze the evolution of the implementation of Family Health and Primary Health Care Expanded Support Centers (NASF-AB, in Portuguese) in the municipalities of Southern Brazil, from 2008 to 2019, in light of the inverse equity hypothesis. This was an ecological study, considering 1,188 municipalities of Southern Brazil. The analyses were separated by state, with municipalities divided into quartiles of Municipal Human Development Index - Income (MHDI-Income). Our study calculated the cumulative percentage of the implementation of NASF-AB within the given per

Households are economic actors that play a significant role in the economic condition. Thus, households’ consumption expenditures are a variable that deserves a through analysis in an economy. This study aims to identify the impact of financial technology on household consumption by using the theory of the absolute income hypothesis. We use the partial adjustment model (PAM) approach and the Chow test to detect the structural change on households’ consumption function in Indonesia with the observation period of 1990–2017. The results demonstrate that Indonesian households’consumption function

The results suggest that semivariance optimisation on the JSE in a pure equity case produces lower absolute returns, yet superior risk-adjusted returns. Understanding the relationship between relative income and mental health could contribute to employee wellbeing. Although there are many studies on the environmental Kuznets curve, very few address the issue of municipal solid waste, and there is still controversy concerning the validity of the waste version of the Kuznets curve hypothesis. It is demonstrated that the turning point for household municipal solid waste is approximately 3.7 million yen per person, which is far less than the maximum income in the sample and valid evidence for absolute decoupling

In order to provide an answer, the authors adopted a proper mathematical-statistical method. This consumption function comprises, as a control variable, the Consumer Conditions Index, a measure of consumer p

We transform panel data into (quasi-) cross-sectional data by removing country and time effects from the data so that all variables become zero mean and orthogonal to the country dummies and time variable, and

Using a dynamic panel approach with two-step System GMM estimations, the analysis considers three dependent variables: average per capita emissions, top 1% per capita emissions, and the ratio of top 1% per capita emissions to national average per capita emissions. Results show that income redistribution (measured in both absolute and relative terms) significantly reduces average per capita emissions in the short term. However, red
