Abstract. The objective of this study was to evaluate the accuracy of high resolution satellite-based rainfall estimates (SREs) across six river basins within Ethiopia during the major (Kiremt) and minor (Belg) rainy seasons for the years 2003 to 2007. The six regions, the Awash, Baro Akobo, Blue Nile, Genale Dawa, Rift Valley and Wabi Shebele River Basins surround the Ethiopian Highlands, which produces different topographical features, as well as spatial and temporal rainfall patterns. Precipitation estimates for the six regions were taken from three widely used high resolution SREs: the Cli

Micro Enterprises (MEs) occupy a central place in the economies of both developed and developing nations. Micro Enterprises are business with fewer than ten (10) employees. These enterprises have fundamental roles in the development of any economy. In addition, they make-up the vast majority of enterprises (between 70% and 95%) around the globe. Despite the importance and contributions of MEs to the economic growth of Nigeria, many constraints affects their development and the most formidable of these constraints is the lack of access to finance. However, the emergence of Islamic microfinance

The present study offers a comprehensive evaluation of the monthly rainfall and temperature patterns across nine stations and fifty-nine points in North-Eastern Nigeria using NASA’s Prediction of Worldwide Energy Resources data, spanning four decades (1981–2021). By employing the Mann–Kendall (MK) test and inverse distance weighting (IDW) interpolation, the researchers effectively detected and visualized trends in climate variables. The MK test results indicate contrasting rainfall trends, with notable decreases in Akko, Billiri, Maiduguri, Numan, and Yola, and increases in Gombe, Abadam, Biu,

The overexploitation of agricultural soils as a result of the increased need for food by local populations is leading to serious dysfunctions in land restoration. These dysfunctions, aggravated by climate change, require the implementation of ecological engineering strategies to rehabilitate the soil. The soils of the South Cameroonian plateau suffer significant degradation in terms of loss of fertilizing elements due to extensive agricultural practices, which limits agricultural production. This work showed how tree legumes contribute to improving the yield of yellow yam (Dioscorea cayenensis

Abstract Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) has a dismal 5-year survival of 12%. RNF43 is frequently mutated in pancreatic cystic neoplasms, including intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms (IPMNs), which are precursor lesions of PDAC. RNF43 encodes for an E3 ubiquitin ligase and was initially identified as a negative Wnt regulator. To elucidate the role of RNF43-mutated neoplasms in an organ specific context, we have generated a genetically engineered mouse model which has pancreas specific loss of RNF43 (Hosein, Gastroenterology 2022). Deforestation in Akoko Edo Local Government Area (LGA) of Edo State, Nigeria, is a growing environmental concern due to its negative impacts on biodiversity, ecosystem services, and the livelihoods of local communities. Akoko Edo is home to rich forest resources that are being rapidly depleted due to a combination of agricultural expansion, illegal logging, and the unsustainable use of forest products. This study explores the drivers, impacts, and potential solutions to deforestation in Akoko Edo, focusing on the role of climate change, unsustainable agricultural practices, and poor policy enf
