Streszczenie:
ABSTRACT Extracellular enzymes synthesized by soil microbes play a central role in the biogeochemical cycling of nutrients in the environment. The pH optima of eight hydrolytic enzymes involved in the cycles of carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus, and sulfur, were assessed in a series of tropical forest soils of contrasting pH values from the Republic of Panama. Assays were conducted using 4-methylumbelliferone-linked fluorogenic substrates in modified universal buffer. Optimum pH values differed markedly among enzymes and soils. Enzymes were grouped into three classes based on their pH optima: (i) e

Eight enzyme activities involved in N and P cycling and soil basic properties influenced by four years of nitrogen (N) deposition were investigated under a semi-arid grassland soil, Northern China. Results showed that N addition into soil could cause soil acidification significantly. Inorganic dissolved N (NH4+N and NO3N) concentration increased significantly while Olsen-P concentration changed slowly with simulating N deposition. Soil nitrification potential, protease, nitrate reductase, and phosphodiesterase activities were repressed by higher rate of N deposition caused by higher NH4+concen

The aim of this study was to evaluate the possible correlations between some soil microbiological parameters (basal respiration, microbial biomass carbon) and the activity of certain enzymes involved in the cycles of C, N, and P, to determine if the latter could be considered indicators of microbial activity in alluvial and lacustrine soils of the Valencia Lake Basin (Venezuela) under different land use. Activities of β-glucosidase, urease, protease, acid and alkaline phosphomonoesterase, dehydrogenase, and arginine ammonification were determined in soils under natural vegetation, sugarcane cu

The aim of this study was to define a relationship between heavy metal (Cu, Mo) pollution of soil and various extracellular enzyme activities. Six enzymatic activities involved in cycles of carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus and sulfur (β-glucosidase, chitinase, leucine-aminopeptidase, acid phosphomonoesterase, alkaline phosphomonoesterase, and arylsulphatase) as well as microbial biomass were determined in soil samples collected in the surroundings of Zangezur Copper and Molybdenum Combine. The investigations showed that pollution of soil with copper and molybdenum led to a decrease in microbial bi

The effects of tillage and residue input amounts on soil phosphatase (alkaline phosphomonoesterase ALP, acid phosphomonoesterase ACP, phosphodiesterase PD, and inorganic pyrophosphatase IPP) activities and soil phosphorus (P) forms (total P, organic P, and available P) were evaluated using soils collected from a three-year experiment. The results showed that no-till increased soil total and organic P, but not available P as compared to conventional tillage treatments. Total P was increased as inputs of crop residue increased for no-till treatment. There were higher ALP and IPP activities in no
