Streszczenie:
Context The red-tailed phascogale once occurred widely across semiarid and arid Australia, but is now confined to the southern wheatbelt of Western Australia. Its apparently extensive former range suggests a broad habitat tolerance, yet it is now reported primarily from remnant vegetation within farmland containing wandoo Eucalyptus wandoo and rock sheoak Allocasuarina huegeliana associations. Aims To establish the habitat requirements of phascogales with a view to understanding their current and likely future distribution and status. Methods We established presence or absence of phascogales a

Twelve species of jumping plant lice, Hemiptera: Psylloidea, in two genera are recognised from plants of the genus Allocasuarina (Casuarinaceae) in Australia. Aacanthocnema Tuthill & Taylor comprises two species that are here redescribed, Aa. casuarinae (Froggatt) and Aa. dobsoni (Froggatt), together with four new species, Aa. burckhardti Taylor, Aa. huegelianae Taylor, Aa. luehmannii Taylor, and Aa. torulosae Taylor. A new genus, Acanthocasuarina Taylor, comprises six new species: Ac. acutivalvis Taylor, Ac. campestris Taylor, Ac. diminutae Taylor, Ac. muellerianae Taylor, Ac. tasmanica T

Kwongan, also known as sandplain heathland, occurs in remnant vegetation throughout the fragmented landscape of the Western Australian wheatbelt. This vegetation community has high levels of species richness and endemism, and is of high conservation value. In many vegetation remnants in the wheatbelt the native tree species Allocasuarina huegeliana (rock sheoak) is expanding out from its normal range and encroaching into kwongan. A. huegeliana may ultimately dominate the kwongan, causing a decline in floristic diversity. Altered disturbance regimes, particularly the absence of fire and reduced
