Abstract This study compared alternate tillage practices for peanut production. The influence of these alternate tillage practices on peanut yield, crop value, and grade factors were evaluated. Alternate tillage practices consisted of a power-driven rotary tiller or rolling cultivators with planters attached. Tillage and planting were performed simultaneously immediately following moldboard plowing. This was compared to the conventional practice of moldboard plowing in late March, and two disking operations prior to planting. Results indicated approximately a 10% increase in peanut yield and c

Climate change manifest itself as increased natural disturbances. These effects can be reduced by planting adapted forest reproductive material. Such plantation ensure the source of raw material for bioeconomy, but are affected by dendrophagous insects, including pine weevil (Hylobius abietis). This species is estimated to cause 120 million EUR financial losses annually. Untreated coniferous seedlings have very high mortality, therefore pesticides are applied in nurseries, before delivering the plants to forest. Use of pesticides is have a negative impact on the environment. Therefore several

Mung bean [Vigna radiata] is an important grain legume crop in Asia, particularly in India. Mungbean is consumed in the United States by a niche market in Asian cuisines, mostly as bean sprout, but is on the rise for use as an alternative plant protein as it is very high in micronutrients such as zinc, iron, and folic acid while also being low in fat and high in protein. Currently, more than two-thirds of mungbeans consumed in the United States are imported and nearly all domestically farmed mungbeans are produced in Oklahoma. This project explores the viability for mungbean to be produced by

It is in the interest of both nurseries and forest owners to find successful alternative, environmentally friendly solutions to safeguard pine saplings against Curculionidae. The intensification of agricultural production, which involves the use of highly productive plant varieties, high-performance equipment, high doses of mineral fertilizers and pesticides leads to soil degradation and environmental contamination. In this regard, alternative methods of agricultural production replace agricultural intensification. To increase the sustainability and environmental friendliness of garden agrocenoses it is necessary to reduce the chemical load and intensify biological processes by planting green manure crops and perennial herbs, as well as increase microbial diversity

In many African countries south of the Sahara, farmers depend on the cultivation of vegetatively propagated crops (VPCs) for both consumption and commercial purposes. Yet yields for these crops remain at low levels due, in part, to the persistent use of low-quality planting material. Efforts to improve the quality of planting material exchanged in markets or through other channels are often hampered by the unique biological and economic characteristics of vegetative propagation—characteristics that distinguish VPCs from the major cereal crops that drive and shape the policy and investment choi
