Streszczenie:
A specimen collected from Nepal in 1821 by Wallich (2707.B in the Wallich Catalogue), stored at the Herbarium of the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew (K), is designated here as the lectotype of Aristolochia saccata Wall. In addition, the nomenclature for A. saccata var. dilatata Hook. f., A. dilatata N. E. Br., and Isotrema dilatatum (N. E. Br.) X. X. Zhu, S. Liao & J. S. Ma is considered. Since the name A. dilatata is based on A. saccata var. dilatata Hook. f., it is regarded that I. dilatatum was validly published as a new combination based on A. saccata var. dilatata Hook. f., and the correct author citation is “(Hook. f.) X. X. Zhu, S. Liao & J. S. Ma.”

Streszczenie:
Inter Simple Sequence Repeat (ISSR) polymor-phism was used to determine genetic diversity and phylogenetic relationship in 4 species of <em>Aristolochia </em>viz <em>A. indica </em>Linn.<em>, A. saccata </em>Wall.<em>, A. tagala </em>Cham. and <em>A. cathcartii </em>Hook.f &amp; T. A panel of 8 ISSR primers was screened representing di-nucleotide repeats, of which 57 polymorphic and informative patterns were selected to determine the genetic diversity. The consensus tree constructed using binary data from banding patterns generated by ISSR-PCR depicting that <em>A. indica </em>and <em>A. cathcartii </em>are more similar in terms of their genetic level and included in the same cluster. However, the rest of the two species <em>viz., A. saccata </em>and <em>A. tagala </em>are included into two different clusters which indicate their level of polymorphisms in the genetic level. This study may be useful in identifying diverse genetic stocks of <em>Aristolochia</em>, which may then be conserved on a priority basis. The ISSR markers are thus useful in the fingerprinting of wild species germplasm, and in understanding the evolutionary relationships of <em>Aristolochia.</em>

Streszczenie:
<em>In vitro</em> propagation of <em>Aristolochia saccata</em> and <em>A. cathcartii</em> were carried out using nodal explant. In both the plants, nodal explants showed direct somatic embryogenesis when cultured on MS medium using various concentrations of BAP (1.0-4.0) and 2iP (1.0-4.0) separately or in combination with low concentration (0.5 and 1.0 mg l-1) of auxin (NAA). It was observed that BAP in combination with NAA was more effective for shoot induction than the hormones used separately. Among different combinations of NAA and BAP, 3.0 mg/l BAP + 1.0 mg/l NAA showed better response in case of <em>A. saccata </em>of about 96%, whereas, in <em>A. cathcartii</em>, the best response was achieved in 4.0 mg/l BAP + 0.5 mg/l NAA after 28 day of culture and 88.3% explants showed proliferation in this combination. The auxins NAA and IBA were used singly to induce rooting from in vitro raised shoot lets. A range of concentration was tested (0.1, 0.5, 0.8 and 1.0 mg/l) for rooting. In the present study 1/2 strength MS basal medium and the two different auxins (NAA and IBA) were tried, the maximum results on rooting were obtained on half strength with IBA (0.5 mg/l) then NAA.

Streszczenie:
Aristolochia sinoburmanica Y.H.Tan &amp; B.Yang, a new species of Aristolochiaceae from Putao, Kachin State, Myanmar, is described and illustrated. According to morphology (strongly curved perianth, 3-lobed limb, as well as 3-lobed gynostemium, anthers 6, adnate in 3 pairs to the base of gynostemium, opposite to the lobes), the species belongs to Aristolochia subgenus Siphisia. It is morphologically similar to A. faviogonzalezii, A. hainanensis, A. tonkinensis, A. saccata and A. xuanlienensis. The major differences between them are outlined and discussed. A detailed description, along with line drawings, photographs, habitat, distribution and conservation status, as well as a comparison to morphologically similar species, are also provided.

Streszczenie:
Aristolochia vuquangensis (Aristolochia subgenus Siphisia), a new species from Central Vietnam, is described and illustrated here. This species is most similar to A. wardiana and A. forrestiana by sharing an ovate to lanceolate-ovate leaf blade and a cylindric or saccate-shaped limb, but it differs principally from the two species in having a densely brown hirsute outer surface of perianth, an oblong-ovate utricle, 1.1–1.5 cm long, an unequally semicircular 3-lobed limb in pre-anthesis, with a revolute median lobe, larger than two lateral lobes, abaxially concave, and lower one-third of the inner surface of limb densely covered by trichomes. A detailed description, illustrations, information on ecology, conservation status, and comparison with two similar species are also provided.

Streszczenie:
Aristolochia laotica, a new species from Northeastern Laos, is described and illustrated here. The horseshoe-shaped perianth tube, the 3-lobed limb, and the 3-lobed gynostemium support its placement into Aristolochia subgenus Siphisia. Of the species with cylindric or saccate-shaped limb, the new species resembles A. vuquangensis. However, it differs from the latter by having an oblanceolate to narrowly elliptic leaf lamina with a truncate to shallowly cordate base, pinnate veins, sparsely brown hirsute to glabrescent perianth, uniformly purple inner surface of utricle, indistinct, straight, strongly inflated limb lobes, and pubescent and warty inner surface of the limb lobes. Detailed description, color illustrations, and remarks on ecology, conservation status are also provided, along with a key to species reported in Laos and comparison with its similar species.
