Als ich noch im Grundstudium von zwei Dozenten hörte, dass Zweisprachige nicht zum Dolmetschen und noch weniger zum Übersetzen geeignet seien, war ich sehr überrascht. Warum sollten gerade sie ungeeignet sein? Die Begründung sahen beide Dozenten darin, dass Bilinguale keine ihrer Muttersprachen richtig beherrschten. Demgegenüber steht die (oft laienhafte) Meinung, sie würden beide Sprachen perfekt beherrschen und seien zum Dolmetschen geradezu prädestiniert.
