This essay examines some stereotypes of bisexuals held by some lesbians. I argue that the decision that a lesbian makes not to become involved with a bisexual woman because she is bisexual can recenter men in lesbian desire, a consequence many lesbians would find deeply problematic. In the last few years, research on lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) health increased, but little scientific literature has been focused on bisexual health. This critical review aims at understanding the relationship between discrimination towards bisexual people and their mental and physical health. The first part of the article reviews different forms of bisexual discrimination, such as biphobia, bisexual invisibility, and bi-erasure, showing how biphobia is different from homophobia, especially considering how heavily it is perpetrated inside and outside the community. Background While prior studies have shown LGB individuals have elevated risk of poor mental health, poor physical health, and substance use, existing study designs may be improved by using representative samples, wider ranges of health outcomes, heterosexual comparison groups, and disaggregated data. The goal of this study is to provide estimates of multiple health disparities across sexual orientations in Canada based on these principles. Methods Using data from 2009-2014 Canadian Community Health Surveys, a sample of 19,980,000 weighted individuals was created. Outcomes included mental healt

As the voices of lesbian, gay, and transgender (LGT) individuals gain inclusion in academic spheres, bisexual experiences continue to be silenced and excluded from the discussion. In particular, systems of biphobia, monosexism, and erasure often coordinate to limit bisexual visibility and activism. This bisexual erasure translates into negative social experiences for bisexual individuals who must face a constant struggle to find belonging and acceptance. Therefore, this study used comix to bring awareness to the experiences of bisexual women as they navigated belonging and worked toward commun

This study focuses on analyzing the representation of bisexual identity in Christina Lauren’s novel "Autoboyography." Through qualitative research, the aim is to reveal the discourse of bisexuality constructed by the acts and behaviors of other characters toward the male main characters using Stuart Hall’s theory of representation, with a particular focus on Michel Foucault’s discursive approach. Another objective of this study is to examine the critical position of Christina Lauren as the novel’s author towards the issue of bisexuality. The findings reveal that the author created characters w

Abstract Context: The number of men who have sex with men (MSM) seeking health care has increased in recent years, but the research comparing sexually transmitted infections (STI) prevalence and risk behaviors between homosexual and bisexual MSM is limited, particularly postpandemic. Aims: To compare the profile of STIs and risk behaviors between homosexual and bisexual MSM attending our STI clinic. Methodology: In this comparative cross-sectional study, we analyzed the records of all male STI patients who reported at least one male partner who attended our STI clinic from January 2015 to Dece

This report from the field examines the interpretation of two notable queer women from Columbus, Georgia: blues musician Gertrude “Ma” Rainey (1886–1939) and Southern Gothic author Carson McCullers (1917–1967). Although these women maintained complicated relationships with their hometown, the Columbus Museum is utilizing new ways to examine their sexuality in the context of their cultural contributions. Nuanced interpretation of Rainey’s and McCullers’s bisexuality offers opportunities to discuss connections between sexuality, gender, race, and economic realities. In presenting the museum’s ef

We study the limiting behaviour of large systems of two types of Brownian particles undergoing bisexual branching. Particles of each type generate individuals of both types, and the respective branching law is asymptotically critical for the two-dimensional system, while being subcritical for each individual population. The main result of the paper is that the limiting behaviour of suitably scaled sums and differences of the two populations is given by a pair of measure and distribution valued processes which, together, determine the limit behaviours of the individual populations. Our proofs are
