Streszczenie:
Freshly collected material of the pontoniine genus Crinotonia Marin, 2006 allows ecological separation of two known species. Crinotonia attenuatus (Bruce, 1971) inhabits the common yellow feather star Phanogenia gracilis (Hartlaub, 1890) (Crinoidea: Comasteridae) whereas С . anastasiae Marin, 2006 is a symbiont of the black-colored Phanogenia sp., probably, Phanogenia multibrachiata (Carpenter, 1888) or an undescribed comasterid species. The species of Crinotonia are also distinguished by coloration, size and depth range with С . anastasiae being smaller and deeper dwelling than C. antenuatus.

A new species of the genus Comanthus A.H. Clark, 1908, is described on the basis of specimens collected from KumeIsland and Okinawa Island, the Ryukyu Islands, Japan. Comanthus kumi n. sp. is distinguished from all ten congeners byhaving extremely elongate arms exceeding 300 mm in length and the colouration in life. The new species concealed itswhole body in a crevice or small hole on coral reefs during the day and protruded only several elongate arms on the reef surface at night. This habit suggests that the new species is nocturnal.

The crinoid family Comasteridae has undergone several revisions based on morphological characters. None, however, have employed DNA sequence data to generate a phylogenetic hypothesis for the group.
