The article presents the results of analysis of the validity of placing minors in special educational and correctional institutions (SECI). The definition of this type of institution is given, the laws regulating correctional and psychological work in SECI are listed, statistics on the number SECI and the dynamics of juvenile delinquency in the Russian Federation are given.
