Background: The coronavirus disease (COVID-19 disease) leads to multiple organ disease, inflammation of the endothelium, and micro- or macrovasculitis that may result in thrombosis of the small vessels, and thrombosis of vessels in various organs, as well as intracardiac thrombosis. Some of the complications may be long-lasting, as in our case, which makes it particularly interesting to discuss. Case report: We present a 73-year-old male patient with a history of permanent atrial fibrillation and chronic heart failure (II NYHA class), popliteal phlebothrombosi

Background/Aim. Deep venous thrombosis (DVT) is a lifethreatening condition, which could be manifested with discrete symptoms (silent DVT). High mortality and disability of patients with DVT indicate the importance of early diagnosis, especially of 'silent' DVT. The aim of this paper was to evaluate of reliability of early detection model for diagnosing DVT in ambulatory patients by using clinical probability of DVT presence, D-dimmer test (DD) and ultrasound evaluation (US). Methods. Ambulatory patients with suspected DVT were classified as 'unlikely' and 'likely' DVT by the Wells clinical mo

The aim of this study was to assess the risk of use of rivaroxaban, which was associated with gastro-duodenal bleeding in patients with deep venous thrombosis. Methods: an analysis of anticoagulant treatment in 683 patients with deep venous phlebothrombosis. All the patients underwent fiberoptic gastroduodenoscopic procedure prior to the anticoagulant treatment. When erosive-ulcerative lesions were detected, the patients received antisecretory therapy with proton pump inhibitors along with anticoagulant therapy. Results: EGD did not show any only stomach pathology only in 10.7 percent of patie

Objective: to study acquired and congenital (protein C level) risk factors for development of postoperative venous thrombosis in patients having phlebothrombosis in their past history. Material and methods. The subject of the study was patients (n = 32) with surgical pathology having episodes of pulmonary embolism and/or deep vein thrombosis of the lower limbs in their anamnesis. Congenital and acquired risk factors for venous thrombosis were analyzed in all the patients. We studied the following acquired risk factors: the patients′ age, obesity, varicosity of legs, diabetes mellitus, chronic

Objective We aimed to summarize the clinical characteristics of floating thrombus in the inferior vena cava (IVC). Methods From January 2014 to June 2019, four patients with floating thrombus in the IVC were admitted to our hospital and underwent intracavitary therapy. Diagnosis, therapy, and clinical characteristics of floating thrombus were summarized. Results Three patients presented with pulmonary embolism. Three of the patients had a floating thrombus discovered by inferior venacavography and one was found by contrast-enhanced computed tomography. Two patients had deep venous thrombosis i

Annotation. The goal of this study was to investigate the characteristic histological and morphological signs of changes in the venous wall as one of the main pathogenetic links of thrombosis in oncological pathology. Assessment of these changes is necessary to understand the process of occurrence and prevention of thromboembolic and thrombotic complications in patients with oncological diseases. Annotation. In the treatment of venous thromboembolism, a special place is occupied by patients with congenital anomalies of the development of the inferior vena cava (IVC). To date, only single cases of treatment of this pathology have been described in the literature. Studying the experience of treating patients with congenital anomalies of the IVC will allow to improve the results of treatment of this category of patients. We analyzed the results of treatment of 1243 patients with venous thromboembolism from 2010 to 2022. For the diagnosis of venous thromboembolism, we used duplex scanning
