Mitochondrial 12S and 16S rDNA sequences of five species of Dinidoridae Stål, 1868, a largely Paleotropical family, and 16 other shield bugs (Pentatomoidea) were studied. This was the first molecular examination of the systematic position of this family within the superfamily Pentatomoidea using more than a single dinidorid species. Phylogenetic trees obtained from the Bayesian inference of 12S and 16S sequences of these mitochondrial DNA, identified Dinidoridae as the monophylum and a sister group to the Tessaratomidae. Moreover, results of the study suggested a close molecular affinity of th

Abstract The Indomalayan genus Sagriva Spinola, 1850 (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Dinidoridae: Dinidorinae) is revised. The identity of its single previously valid species, S. vittata Spinola, 1850, is clarified based on the relevant type material, the species is diagnosed, illustrated, and recorded for the first time from Thailand and Laos. A new species, Sagriva banna sp. nov., is described from Yunnan Province of China and Yen Bai Province of Vietnam.

The life history of a dinidorid bug Megymenum distanti Kocorek & Ghate, 2012 was examined under controlled laboratory conditions. The female bug laid about 32 eggs after mating. Only 8 of these 32 eggs actually hatched, for a hatching ratio of only 25 per cent and these 8 nymphs were observed further. The eggs required 11 to 13 days to hatch. There were five nymphal stages, lasting 48 days in total. The nymphal periods for the first, second, third, fourth, and the fifth instars were 11, 9, 8, 7 and 13 days, respectively. Male adults survived 21 days on average, whereas female adults lived

Coridius chinensis (Hemiptera: Dinidoridae) is a medicinal insect. Its mitochondrial gene arrangement is consistent with that of Drosophila melanogaster and Erthesina fullo, the two insects with well-studied mitochondrial transcription. To investigate whether the structural consistency of mitochondrial genes leads to similarities in transcription and post-transcriptional processing, we improved the gene annotation and constructed a quantitative transcription map for the C. chinensis mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) using full-length transcriptome sequencing. The size of this mitogenome was 16

The genus Coridius Illiger, 1807 (Heteroptera: Dinidoridae) comprises a group of phytophagous terrestrial bugs consisting of 36 species distributed in the Afrotropical and Indo-Malayan regions. In several communities in northeastern India, insects are recognised as a delicacy, medicine, and a nutritional supplement, with Coridius being a popular delicacy. However, Coridius has received little taxonomic attention to date due to large intraspecific variations, inadequate taxonomic treatments, and the rarity of many species. To address this gap, an integrative taxonomy of the genus was performed.

Coridius chinensis belongs to Dinidoridae, Hemiptera. Previous studies have indicated that C. chinensis contains abundant polypeptides with antibacterial and anticancer activities. Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs), as endogenous peptides with immune function, play an indispensable role in the process of biological development and immunity. AMPs have become one of the most potential substitutes for antibiotics due to their small molecular weight and broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity.
