ABSTRACT Here we report a rapid and sensitive method (using loop-mediated isothermal amplification [LAMP]) for the diagnosis of edwardsiellosis, a fish disease caused by Edwardsiella tarda, in Japanese flounder. Edwardsiellosis is a zoonotic infectious disease that caused by Edwardsiella tarda and characterized by gastroenteritis in humans. Contaminated water can also be a source of infection. Primary nutritional toxicity clinical signs may mask aquatic zoonosis caused by Edwardsiella tarda. Infectious border control should ensure that the import into Ukraine of such preservatives of food products, highly probably infected by this agent is not allowed.

This paper described the application of Citrus microcarpa extract as bio-immunostimulator in red hybrid tilapia against Edwardsiellosis infection. Edwardsiellosis due to Edwardsiella tarda is one of the well-known bacterial diseases in aquaculture which leads to significant economic losses.
