The Roma are the national minority that experiences the highest level of social distance in Croatia. With aim of better understanding the social structure of the parts of Croatia’s that are inhabited by Roma, the level of social distance between Roma and selected groups was investigated using the classic Bogardus scale performed on a sample of 203 members of the Roma community from Međimurje County, the City of Zagreb, and Primorje-Gorski Kotar County. The results of the research indicate significant differences in the level of social distance among different sub-ethnic Roma groups in Croatia.

Abstract This paper explores the impacts of COVID-19 on the bilateral trade flows in the presence of ethnic distances. I use the distance-adjusted ethno linguistic fractionalization index (DELF) to measure ethnic proximity and the monthly trade data developed by the International Monetary Fund (IMF). I find that within a country pair with larger ethnic distances, an increase in COVID-19 cases in the exporter negatively affects export volume significantly. Considering other things remain the same, I find that a ten percent increase in COVID-19 cases in the exporting country is linked to a 0.037

Multiethnic schools provide opportunities for interethnic contact and the development of positive interethnic relations. Yet, some children develop such relations more easily than others. The article examines the attitude of the Bessarabian Gagauz to mixed marriages. Their inherent ethnic preferences in this matter are revealed. Through the attitude towards mixed marriages, their culture of adaptation and the degree of ethnic tolerance are analyzed.
