Pełny tekst źródłaThis thesis is a study of various aspects of family responsability towards patients interned in paris asylums during the mid war period. Our research is based upon statistical and qualitative analysis of case file data. We also make ample use of secondary sources including medical theses and scientific litterature. We show that the central concern of both families and the psychiatric institution is the responsability they are prepared to take. Responsability for care, the patient's treatment and well being, and for his illness are central issues for both parties, giving rise to considerable misyunderstanding throughout their relations. The nearest relative, whose role is only vaguely defined in french psychiatric law, adopts a fatalistic and pas sive attitude but offers full cooperation with the psychiatrist. The psychiatric institution views the family with suspicion while seeking a positive and cooperative attitude on the part of the nearest relative. Such contradictory approaches can only give rise to difficulty between the two parties. In conclusion we compare mid war years with contemporary psychiatry and show how this misunderstanding continues today despite fundamental changes in the psychiatric institution as in the family structure

Pełny tekst źródłaThe debate on the ageing in Europe is currently paying considerable attention to the social and economic consequences of demographic trends. Central to the discussion surrounding the extension of the active lifespan is the state of health of the elderly. On one hand the health condition of the population is clearly crucial to all hypotheses linked to the extension of active life, on the other hand, European governments are specifically interested in forecasting the health care needs and services which will be required by the elderly. This study on one hand measure demographic and social inequalities in life expectancy without disability in France and on the other hand estimates the probability of being in good health conditions according to some indiviadual characterics, using the data of the French survey on handicaps, disabilities and dependency (hid)

Pełny tekst źródłaSince the beginning of the 2000s, families have made up a growing part of the homeless population in France. Despite these changes, there was no study in 2012 on homeless families, their living conditions, and their state of health and their use of care. This work is the first research in health geography on homeless families in France and is part of the first survey on homeless children and families in Ile-de-France, conducted by the Samusocial Observatory from Paris. It questions the spatial practices of use of care from health professionals for children aged 0-5. Initial observations indicated that the distance between families’ accommodation and the professional consulted was large, despite their locomotion difficulties. According to the associations, their conditions of care would cause daily and difficult residential mobility. The allocation of accommodation in isolated geographical areas of the associative and health centers and frequent moves from one accommodation to another are designated as obstacles to access and accessibility to care. The goal is to understand families’ health travels by studying their residential and daily mobility and trying to place the use of care in the spatial context of their activity space. The results confirm that the local health professional is not preferred and that families’ conditions of care, associated with their life course and socio-demographic characteristics, are crucial

Pełny tekst źródłaThe recent attraction of the French authorities for the development of the genetic medicine drew our attention. The establishment of the project "France genomic 2025” tends to place the genetic medicine in the center of the medical services. However, it engenders complex ethical and legal questions. The interest of the relatives to be informed in case of a serious risk for their health have raised wide debates. The protection of the health of these third parties in the patient—physician relationship enters in conflict with the patient’s right of confidentiality. French authorities were among the first to try to create a balance between those two interests. The objective of this analysis will be to identify the difficulties met by the parliament and to propose solutions to advance the French law in its research of creation of a just balance between the rights of the patients and the allies. This joint study of the French and foreign rights will lead us to propose the creation of a new tool of balance in the service of the public health

Pełny tekst źródłaThis study defines local authority initiatives in public health and hygiene in a french provincial city. It shows the use of nascent administrative technology by the town hall, which employed increasing financial means and equiped itself with functionnal, structured services, led by competent civil servants. Thus the city of bordeaux adopted and applied the hygienic sanitation themes born of the "pasteur revolution" and spread by the local hygienist movement, guided by several highly actives personalities. Moreover, municipal activity was assisted by a permanent political consensus and an absence of partisan divisions, since the elected council took over the legacy of former assemblies. During the 1880's and 1890's, the city installed a modern system of hygienic sanitation management, directed first of all at sanitation improvement and then at disease prevention. Thus, successfully and discreetly, the biological safety of the local population was taken care of, a testimony to the vigour of french municipalism, which took on new responsabilities as early as the end of the nineteenth century

Pełny tekst źródłaThe part the family circle has to play as far the protection of a diseased relative is concerned varies toa great extent. Society as a whole strongly encourages future parents to pay attention to the way they behave so that their children to be born do not run the risk to be physically or mentally handicapped. As carly as 1942, france enforced strong measures of sanitary protection. Relatively mild laws were enacted to protect the nation's welfare in this respect : for instance, french civil law prohibits marriage in some cases but in a very limited way. France devotes a great deal of energy to organize antenatal and postnatal prevention. The family circle has also a prominent part to play when the health of a diseased next of kin deteriorates either mentally or physically. On natural of legal grouds, one or several members of the family circle may acte on behalf of a diseased relative to have fim or her treated. Should this be necessary, family action is either based repore legal representation when the person who needs protection is legally incapable or possibly on guardian ship grounds when the capable member, as law has it, by reason of illness is also disables as a matter of fact

Pełny tekst źródłaThe evolution of the child’s rights in the field of health, in France, is charaterized by the passage from the right to the prevention of death to the right to the protection of health in a more recent objective of promoting his health. Nowadays, both the protection and the promotion of the chidren’s and teenagers’ health are ensured by two specific institutions : mother and infant welfare (MIW) and the mission of promotion for pupils’health. . MIW, which ensures the preventive assumption of responsability of the health of all children up to six years old, proves to be always indispensable nowadays. However it must be more recognized in order to allow equality, efficienc quality on its own territory. Scholl health, supposed to take over MIW, through the mission of promotion of health in favour of pupils doesn’t intend for all children not either for all those which are provided with schooling. Indeed, only those sent to state schools are concerned, contrary to the provisions of the text which organizes it. Nevertheless school health proves to be unable to meet the needs for the children and teenagers provided with schooling in the absence of a real will other than expressed in the circulars. It becomes urgent that an overall and national policy of health in the field of children’s health determines priorities and brings the necessary to their implementation

Pełny tekst źródłaThe proposed study investigates the social representations of the health and illness in 1000 Moroccan workers: 500 migrants living in France and 500 living in morocco. They have answered a same survey questionnaire and the data were analyzed by computer. Both groups define the concept of "good" or "bad" health through factors such as physical aspect, psycho-sociological status, and cultural values in how to face or prevent illness; religious beliefs and socio-economic conditions. They conceive the health as a balance between the individual and social environment. They also mentioned the psycho-social stress due to hard conditions at work and in daily life. The group living in France are more aware and better informed on how to keep themselves healthy than the group staying in morocco; this is certainly due to the availability, the access and efficiency of the French health care system and to the general medical information conveyed around. However, the France group complained strongly against the solitude and exile from their relatives and friends and original habits, which they may feel as a potential cause of disease. Globally, it seems that any group of population represents or perceives its health status in terms of its social environment and of its social reality of daily life
