Monitoring of the soil cover of the farmlands for a long period of time is relevant in fodder production, since the mechanical intensive use of fodder lands, uneven grazing of livestock, and non-compliance with the restoration of pastures and meadows inevitably affect the productivity of the farmlands for crop rotations. A tendency has been revealed towards the restoration of near-farm forage lands due to the plowing and sowing of perennial legume-cereal mixtures, the regular application of mineral fertilizers and lime. This tends to erode the constitutional right of all rural residents without another livelihood option to access land for subsistence. With the recent land laws also stipulating minimum farm sizes, this also restricts inheritance rights of children living on small farms. The current European Union’s and state agricultural support is more focused on the modernization of farms in technological terms, coupled with the intensification of production, and weakly focused on the farm exclusivity and diversification. This creates a minor motivation for farmers to address the issues related to climate change mitigation. The main attention in the article is concentrated on two themes: climate change and forest management. The main research methods were used: analysis and generalization of scientific literature, interview, logical and systematically reasoning, comparison,

An important condition for the development of animal husbandry and the reduction of the cost of its production is the creation of long-term irrigated cultivated pastures that ensure the collection of the cheapest and earliest fodder. At present, and in the future, in the Kabardino-Balkaria Republic, an urgent direction in providing farm animals with high-quality and cheap feed is to increase the efficiency of using natural fodder lands. For the most part, natural hayfields and pastures are characterized by relatively low yields, grass stands of low nutritional value. Intensive development of d

Farmers awarded with lands under a collective-Certificate of Land Ownership Awards (CCLOA) have been experiencing problems arising from the collective arrangement (e.g., boundary issues and disputes with other collective members). These issues discourage many farmers from making long-term investment decisions on their land, thereby resulting in lower productivity. With a strong directive from President Rodrigo Duterte, the Department of Agrarian Reform is currently committed to ensure the swift implementation of the Parcelization program, which aims to subdivide collectively-owned CLOAs, whose

The expansion of smallholder farms into larger farm sizes is a key strategy for growing agriculture in sub-Saharan Africa. This strategy could simultaneously expand farm incomes while addressing poverty since the majority of farms in sub-Saharan Africa are smallholder farms. There is limited existing research on the possible role of conflicts in stymying the ability of smallholder farmers to transition into larger-scale farming and on the impacts of conflicts in areas that are not directly within active conflict zones. Latin American and Caribbean countries have historically been known for their rates of land inequality, highest in the world. However, these countries also exhibit a high degree of heterogeneity in their patterns of land concentration and average farm sizes. These cross-country differences play a determining role in productivity of farms and the distribution of agricultural income. Constructing a new data-set matching agri- cultural census and household survey data, we provide suggestive evidence on the positive relationship between farm size and farm income and wages. Using data from several developing countries, we first document new empirical facts about households' landholding choices and how weather shocks influence these decisions. Building on a rich longitudinal dataset for Colombia on farm sizes, land transactions, and households' consumption and investment decisions, we then show that weather shocks increase the frequency of land sales and reduce farm sizes within municipalities, especially among smal
