Mineralogical and Geochemical prospect were used to evaluate the Cretaceous and Tertiary sediments in the Bornu Basin of northeastern Nigeria, particularly those found in Kanadi-1 Wells, seeks to gain insight into their origins and how they were deposited. The Bima Sandstone Formation, the sandy-shale Gongila Formation, and the clayeyshaley Fika Formation, are mainly composed of around 35-58% quartz and up to 50% kaolinitic clay. Notably, the quantity of quartz decreases steadily across the stratigraphic sequence. The base of the Bima Sandstone Formation is characterized by its abundance of ar

This preliminary study was carried out on the Shales of the Cenomanian-Turonian sedimentary sequence representing the Gongila Formation of the Gongola Basin as exposed in the Ashaka Cement quarry in Gombe, northeastern Nigeria. A total of ten shale samples were collected from the outcropping sections, out of which five representative samples were subjected to instrumental Neutron Activation Analytical (INAA) methods. The results of the analysis of the shale samples shows the average composition values; La (57),Ce (89.4), Nd (34), Sm (6.94), Eu (1.52),Tb (0.66),Lu (0.42).This result however sho

The heat flowing through horizons in the Faltu-1 well, Borno Basin, NE Nigeria was calculated from their thermal conductivities and geothermal gradients with the aim of determining whether or not it is uniform, and if not, the depths where it is diverted, and the possible heat diversion process. The interval heat flow was assessed to be non-uniform. While fluid convection is adjudged to be the major heat diversion mechanism within the Chad Formation with minor heat refraction, the reversed is adjudged to be the situation for the underlying Kerri Kerri Formaton within which increasing sand cont

The aim of this study is to interpret the lithostratigraphic units, analyze geotemperature and determine the hydrocarbon windows in the Seloken Field. Gamma-ray logs and formation tops were used to interpret the lithostratigraphic units. Corrected bottom hole temperature (BHT) data from the wells were used to calculate the geothermal gradients. A formular was derived from the geothermal gradient equation to analyze the geotemperature. Another formular was derived from the geotemperature equation to obtain the hydrocarbon windows. Five major lithostratigraphic units were interpreted. They are:

Abstract In an Oil and Gas field development plan, identifying appropriate reservoir location of a field and deciding the best design strategy as well as meeting the economic hydrocarbon viability are imperative for sustainability. 3-Dimensional seismic data have become a key tool used by geophysicists in the Oil and Gas industry to identify and understand subsurface reservoir deposits. In addition to providing excellent structural images, the dense sampling of a 3D survey can sometimes make it possible to map reservoir quality and the distribution of Oil and Gas.
