Rapeseed is the most important agricultural crop, used for fodder and food purposes, its use as a green manure crop leads not only to the enrichment of the soil with organic matter, but also to the improvement of the phytosanitary condition of subsequent crops. To ensure an increase in the productivity of spring rape, there is a need to search for new genotypes adapted to local soil and climatic conditions, as well as the selection of effective measures to protect plants from harmful objects. The limiting factors limiting the disclosure of the genetic potential of varieties and hybrids of spri

In stationary field crop rotation, treatment systems of different intensity of impact on the soil in combination with the use of herbicides were studied. An increase in weediness of crops by flat-cutting and shallow tillage was revealed in comparison with moldboard. The use of herbicides made it possible to reduce the weediness of crops, which contributed to an increase in the yield of crops in crop rotation.

Concerns about energy efficiency and contaminants of emerging concern (CECs) in wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) lead development of new and alternative processes. Conventional activated sludge systems have a high energy consumption and footprint. Alternative processes are nowadays implemented to reduce them. In this study, we present the results of Biofungus project. Influent wastewater is treated under real conditions and continuous operation in a two-step Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) pilot plant based on Mucor fungus. Several strains and spontaneous mutants of the Mucor fungus were i

Chemical control of nuisance aquatic vegetation has long been the most widely utilized management tool due to its high level of efficacy, limited environmental impacts, and relatively low cost. However, unprecise application of herbicides can lead to uncontrolled invasive plants and unintended management costs. Therefore, precision herbicide delivery techniques are being developed to improve invasive plant control and minimize impacts to non-target plants. These technological advancements have the potential to enhance aquatic ecosystem protection from invasive species while reducing associated

Four demonstration plots were selected at Roanoke Rapids Lake, NC to evaluate water exchange and aqueous herbicide residues in stands of submersed aquatic vegetation (SAV) following treatment with rhodamine wt dye and florpyrauxifen-benzyl to control monecious hydrilla. Florpyrauxifen-benzyl (Procellacor™ SC) was applied in combination with Rhodamine WT (RWT) at two of the plots. Dye measurements and herbicide residue samples were collected at specific time intervals to draw comparisons between herbicide and RWT dye dissipation. The two additional plots served as reference plots to the treatme

US Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) approved algaecides and herbicides are frequently utilized to manage nuisance algae and aquatic macrophytes. However, there is limited information available on the effectiveness of these products for the management of starry stonewort. Thus, the goal of this research was to discern effective chemical control products for later growth stages of starry stonewort using mesocosm studies. Eleven treatments were evaluated using various combinations of four copper-based products, endothall, diquat, and carfentrazone – all with USEPA registrations for use in

In this work multispectral reflectance images are used in conjunction with a neural network classifier for the purpose of detecting and classifying weeds under real field conditions. Multispectral reflectance images which contained different combinations of weeds and crops were taken under actual field conditions. This multispectral reflectance information was used to develop algorithms that could segment the plants from the background as well as classify them into weeds or crops. In order to segment the plants from the background the multispectrial reflectance of plants and background were st
