The desire to honour heroes is specific to all nations because they fought or even sacrificed their lives for independence, freedom, faith, etc. The present study analyses how Romania honours its heroes in the public space, more precisely by commemorating their names in denominations of public squares, avenues, streets, and alleys. These actions are ubiquitous but depend on the political regime, the inference of the military, religious leaders, opinion leaders, human rights organizations, and hero worship.
