Streszczenie:
We evaluated the effects of low-dose intrathecal ropivacaine with or without fentanyl for arthroscopic knee surgery. Fifty patients were randomized in equal groups to receive an intrathecal solution (3 ml) containing either 10 mg isobaric ropivacaine or 8 mg isobaric ropivacaine plus 25 μg fentanyl. Complete motor blockade occurred in 22 patients (88%) in both groups. The time taken to reach sensory blockade to T10 and total motor blockade was shorter in the ropivacainetreated group, but differences were not statistically significant. The duration of sensory and motor blockade was shorter in t

Background: Ropivacaine is a novel long-acting amide local anaesthetic that is comparable to bupivacaine in terms of its structure and pharmacodynamics. ln comparison to bupivacaine, ropivacaine has a reduced propensity to affect the central nervous system and a lower cardio-toxicity. Aims and Objectives: The aim of our study was to compare and assess the effectiveness and compare the block characteristics of hyperbaric ropivacaine 0.5% (18mg) versus hyperbaric bupivacaine 0.5% (18mg) for elective lower abdominal surgeries under spinal Anaesthes

Background: Bupivacaine is 40% more powerful than the recently developed ropivacaine. Spinal anesthesia produced hyperbaric with ropivacaine, and dextrose is reported to be effective (SA). In this investigation, the clinical effectiveness of 0.5% bupivacaine and 0.5% ropivacaine for SA was compared at equivalent hyperbaric dosages. Methods: A total of n=60 cases were allotted randomly in two groups of n=30 each with Group I receiving intrathecal 15 mg (3 ml) of 0.5% Hyperbaric Bupivacaine. And group II received intrathecal 15 mg (3 ml) of 0.5% H

Background The rationale of this study was to evaluate intrathecal ropivacaine for ambulatory surgery. Methods One hundred fifty patients with American Society of Anesthesiologists physical status 1 scheduled for knee arthroscopy were studied. Patients were randomly assigned to receive 4 ml of one of five isobaric intrathecal solutions: Patients in group 1 (n = 30) received 8 mg of bupivacaine; patients in group 2 (n = 30) received 8 mg ropivacaine; patients in group 3 (n = 30) received 10 mg ropivacaine; patients in group 4 (n = 30) received 12 mg ropivacaine; and patients in group 5 (n = 30)

Background Although local anesthetics (LAs) are hyperbaric at room temperature, density drops within minutes after administration into the subarachnoid space. LAs become hypobaric and therefore may cranially ascend during spinal anesthesia in an uncontrolled manner. The authors hypothesized that temperature and density of LA solutions have a nonlinear relation that may be described by a polynomial equation, and that conversion of this equation may provide the temperature at which individual LAs are isobaric. Methods Density of cerebrospinal fluid was measured using a vibrating tube densitomete

Regional anesthesia, like Peripheral nerve block, is commonly used for peripheral surgeries to reduce severe intraoperative and postoperative pain relief. .Some studies with levobupivacaine have shown that duration of analgesia of levobupivacaine are longer compared to that of an equivalent dose of bupivacaine or ropivacaine. This study is done to compare efficacy and safety of levobupivacaine with ropivacaine. In this study we tried to compare efficacy and clinical characteristics of isobaric forms of intrathecal levobupivacaine 0.5% and ropivacaine 0.75% in lower abdominal surgeries. This pros
