Virtual assistants have gained popularity across various domains, including the legal field, where they serve to offer guidance and aid in the form of law retrieval. In this research, our aim is to develop a legal virtual assistant that combines knowledge graphs (KGs) and information retrieval (IR) techniques. This hybrid approach allows us to provide accurate answers extracted from structured interconnected data while simultaneously cater to a diverse range of legal inquiries. We categorize these inquiries into a few distinct use cases: definition lookup, law component lookup, sanctions, and domain knowledge. Our system encompasses a chatbot platform, knowledge graph querying, and information retrieval. Specifically, we construct a VA system over a legal knowledge graph pertaining to the Indonesian Act concerning Manpower or Labor (UU Ketenagakerjaan) and the Indonesian Act concerning the Creation of Jobs (UU Cipta Kerja). This marks the creation of the first legal virtual assistant in the Indonesian context that combines KG and IR methodologies. To evaluate the effectiveness of our prototype system, we conduct tests using a variety of labor law-related questions, ranging in difficulty. The integration of knowledge graphs and information retrieval proves to significantly improve the support provided for a wide range of potential applications in the legal field.

Kurakding (Schizophyllum commune) mushrooms are renowned for their health-promoting and medical benefits and is considered a high-value farm product. Its popularity in Bicol Region, Philippines, makes it in-demand, which therefore makes it an expensive commodity. Recognizing the significance of this commodity, the Kurakding Information System (KIS) was designed and developed to serve as a repository of regional knowledge for its sustainable use and development. Specifically focusing on functionalities that allow the users to create content, retrieve knowledge, and interact with other users using social network services. During the design and development, an innovative software development model, the KIS Software Development Paradigm (KISSDP) was used. This model is a systematic integration of methods and techniques on software development practices adopting concepts and standards from Agile software development methodologies which establishes an explicit compliance with the ISO/IEC 25010 standards. Following Jakob Nielsen's principles for interaction design, KIS was subjected to rigorous testing and evaluation measuring the system's user interface in conformance with UI design standards. Achieving high ratings in usability (95.90%), acceptability (94.67%) and reliability (93.33%). Given the limited study on the development and evaluation of information systems designed to support the marginalized sectors in the country, it is our hope that this research study provides significant insights into the software quality principles and competencies as universal standards for various software development projects that boost favorable customer satisfaction and optimum user experience.

This research aims to update the analysis of the Internal control system of the sales cycle and the recipient of the cash against the control of accounts receivable On Cooperative Rukun Dwijo Tegal, which is very important for the progress of the cooperative. Cash is the object that is easily perverted for avoiding abuses then required the existence of an internal control system. This study uses qualitative methods, qualitative data is data in the form of words, schemes, drawings. The methods used in data retrieval is to interview, interview with Chief operations, data analysis and compare of the theory with the results of the data obtained. Examples of data taken among others: organizational structure, job description, internal policies, documentation, and internal control system flowchart sales cycle and the receipt of cash. Research results show that the division of tasks / responsibilities that are essential in the smooth running of the cooperative Rukun Dwijo Tegal. The sales system in cooperative Rukun Dwijo Tegal using cash sales system. The information is carried out by a cooperative Rukun Dwijo Tegal in record-keeping is already using the computer so that the resulting information is accurate and likely to occur in human error.Keywords: Internal control, sales, Cash Receipt and control of accounts receivable.

Information Retrieval (IR) enables user to find relevant document from collection of countless resources. This article presents an overview of IRS. Objectives of this article is to answer all the basic and specific questions related to IRS. In contrast to other review papers, the authors provide a complete understanding of IR in single paper. Starting from definition and importance it covers retrieval process, performance issues, and comparison among various approaches. This article also includes description of different models along with analysis of their merits and demerits. This article proposes a list of challenges, still unanswered by existing systems. Before offering a conclusion, the major applications of IR are also listed.

In Scotland, the Key Information Summary (KIS) enables health providers to access key patient information to guide decision-making out-of-hours. KISs are generated in primary care and rely on information from other teams, such as community specialist palliative care teams (CSPCTs), to keep them up-to-date. This study involved a service evaluation consisting of case note reviews of new referrals to a CSPCT and semi-structured interviews with palliative care community nurse specialists (CNSs) regarding their perspectives on KISs. Some 44 case notes were examined, and 77% of patients had a KIS on CSPCT referral. One-month post-referral, all those re-examined (n=17) had a KIS, and 59% KISs had been updated following CNS assessments. CNSs cited anticipatory care planning (ACP) as the most useful aspect of KIS, and the majority of CNSs said they would appreciate KIS editing access. A system allowing CNSs to update KISs would be acceptable to CNSs, as it could facilitate care co-ordination and potentially improve comprehensiveness of ACP information held in KISs.

Based on a preliminary survey that I had done during the Field Work Practice at RSUP Dr. Kariadi Semarang.The output that was there produced the KIS system on the RME menu that was not yet in accordance with thewishes of the outpatient coding officer. In the KIS system, the SIMRS menu entry grouping encoding externalcauses or external causes only have 3 digits of 4 characters. The use of the KIS menu RME systemsometimes occurs errors that are not equipped with guidelines or guidelines if an error occurs. This studyaims to evaluate KIS (Kariadi Information System) users in outpatient coding officers. Use the methoddiscussed, namely the EUCS method to measure the level of satisfaction from using a system. The resultsthat have been obtained from this research in terms of the content (content) of the information obtained isquite helpful for coding officers. The lack of entry grouping coding on the external cause, if complete willbenefit the patient. In terms of accuracy (accuracy) still requires an accuracy process, for example, if the inputerror registers, the data that appears will be different and occasional errors also occur. In terms of format(display) the interface is quite attractive based on user needs. In terms of timeliness, the system is able toprovide up to date information. In terms of ease of use (ease of use) the system is easy to learn only the lackof guidance if there has been an error. This research resulted in several recommendations that IT staff officerscan receive input related to the constraints of the use of the coder officer system, the head of the medicalrecord conducts further evaluation and supervision of the use of the system.

Introduction:The US Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) Evidence-based Practice Center (EPC) program sponsors the development of systematic reviews to inform clinical policy and practice. The EPC program sought to better understand how health systems identify and use this evidence.Methods:Representatives from eleven EPCs, the EPC Scientific Resource Center, and AHRQ developed a semi-structured interview script to query a diverse group of nine Key Informants (KIs) involved in health system quality, safety and process improvement about how they identify and use evidence. Interviews were transcribed and qualitatively summarized into key themes.Results:All KIs reported that their organizations have either centralized quality, safety, and process improvement functions within their system, or they have partnerships with other organizations to conduct this work. There was variation in how evidence was identified, with larger health systems having medical librarians and central bureaus to gather and disseminate information and smaller systems having local chief medical officers or individual clinicians do this work. KIs generally prefer guidelines, especially those with treatment algorithms, because they are actionable. They like systematic reviews because they efficiently condense study results and reconcile conflicting data. They prefer information from systematic reviews to be presented as short digestible summaries with the full report available on demand. KIs preferred systematic reviews from reputable entities and those without commercial bias. Some of the challenges KIs reported include how to resolve conflicting evidence, the generalizability of evidence to local needs, determining whether the evidence is up-to-date, and the length of time required to generate reviews. The topics of greatest interest included predictive analytics, high-value care, advance care planning, and care coordination. To increase awareness of AHRQ EPC reviews, KIs suggest alerting people at multiple levels in a health-system when new evidence reports are available and making reports easier to find in common search engines.Conclusions:Systematic reviews are valued by health system leaders. To be most useful they should be easy to locate and available in different formats targeted to the needs of different audiences.

But, most of the current personalized systems on the basis of Social Network are built and constructed mainly in the PC environment, and the systems are neither designed nor implemented in mobile environment. Hence, the objective of this study is to propose methods of providing Personalized Mobile Information Retrieval System using NFC (Near Field Communication) Smartphone, which will be then used for Smartphone users. Besides, this study aims to verify its efficiency through a comparative analysis of existing studies.

Artificial Intelligence Lab, Department of MIS, University of Arizona<br>This paper summarizes a prototype geographical image retrieval system that demonstrates how to integrate image processing and information analysis techniques to support large-scale content-based image retrieval. By using an image as its interface, the prototype system addresses a troublesome aspect of traditional retrieval models, which require users to have complete knowledge of the low-level features of an image. In addition we describe an experiment to validate the performance of this image retrieval system against that of human subjects in an effort to address the scarcity of research evaluating performance of an algorithm against that of human beings. The results of the experiment indicate that the system could do as well as human subjects in accomplishing the tasks of similarity analysis and image categorization. We also found that under some circumstances texture features of an image are insufficient to represent a geographic image. We believe, however, that our image retrieval system provides a promising approach to integrating image processing techniques and information retrieval algorithms.

Geographic Information Retrieval (GIR) systems provide users with functionalities of representation, storage, organisation of and access to various types of electronic information resources based on their textual and geographic context. This thesis explores various aspects of the development, evaluation and application of GIR systems. The first study focuses upon the extraction and grounding of geographic information entities. My approach for this study consists of a hierarchical structure-based geographic relationship model that is used to describe connections between geographic information entities, and a supervised machine learning algorithm that is used to resolve ambiguities. The proposed approach has been evaluated on a toponym disambiguation task using a large collection of news articles. The second study details the development and validation of a GIR ranking mechanism. The proposed approach takes advantage of the power of the Genetic Programming (GP) paradigm with the aim of finding an optimal functional form that integrates both textual and geographic similarities between retrieved documents and a given user query. My approach has been validated by applying it to a large collection of geographic metadata documents. The third study addresses the problem of modelling the GIR retrieval process that takes into account both thematic and geographic criteria. Based on the Spreading Activation Network (SAN), the proposed model consists a two-layer associative network that is used to construct a structured search space; a constrained spreading activation algorithm that is used to retrieve and to rank relevant documents; and a geographic knowledge base that is used to provide necessary domain knowledge for network. The retrieval performance of my model has been evaluated using the GeoCLEF 2006 tasks. The fourth study discusses the publishing, browsing and navigation of geographic information on the World Wide Web. Key challenges in designing and implementing of a GIR user interface through which online content can be systematically organised based on their geospatial characteristics, and can be efficiently accessed and interrelated, are addressed. The effectiveness and the usefulness of the system are shown by applying it to a large collection of geo-tagged web pages.

For individuals requiring interactive access to online text, information storage and retrieval systems provide a way to retrieve desired documents and/or text passages. The CODER (COmposite Document Expert/effective/extended Retrieval) system is a testbed for determining how useful various artificial intelligence techniques are for increasing the effectiveness of information storage and retrieval systems. The system, designed previously, has three components: an analysis subsystem for analyzing and storing document contents, a central spine for manipulation and storage of world and domain knowledge, and a retrieval subsystem for matching user queries to relevant documents. This thesis discusses the implementation of the retrieval subsystem and portions of the spine and analysis subsystem. It illustrates that logic programming, specifically with the Prolog language, is suitable for development of an intelligent information retrieval system. Furthermore, it shows that system modularity provides a flexible research testbed, allowing many individuals to work on different parts of the system which may later be quickly integrated. The retrieval subsystem has been implemented in a modular fashion so that new approaches to information retrieval can be easily compared to more traditional ones. A powerful knowledge representation language, a comprehensive lexicon and individually tailored experts using standardized blackboard modules for communication and control allowed rapid prototyping, incremental development and ready adaptability to change. The system executes on a DEC VAX ll/785 running ULTRIXâ ¢, a variant of 4.2 BSD UNIX. It has been implemented as a set of MU-Prolog and C modules communicating through TCP/IP sockets.<br>Master of Science

The design of manufacturing systems in hazardous environments is complex, requiring interdisciplinary knowledge to determine which components and operators (human or robotic) are feasible. When conceptualizing designs, some options may be overlooked or unknowingly infeasible due to the design engineers’ lack of knowledge in a particular field or ineffective communication of requirements between disciplines. Computational design tools can help alleviate many of the problems encountered in this design task. We create a knowledge-based system (KBS) utilizing CLIPS to automate the synthesis of conceptual manufacturing system designs in radioactive environments. The KBS takes a high-level functional description of a process and uses FBS modeling to generate multiple designs with generic components retrieved from a database and low-level manufacturing task sequences. Using this approach, many options are explored and operator task compatibility is directly addressed. The KBS is applied to the design of glovebox processing systems at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL).

To better understand users’ intent, Web search engines need to transcend its information sorter utility and acquire a more relevant ability concerning semantics’ discernment. This master thesis presents the Exploratory Search KiP model, which helps clarify the reasons why a subject is searched and supports the visualization of decision criteria used for choosing a specific search result. It also introduces the ESKiP Taxonomy of Query States; a classification framework that helps to represent the structure and behavior of query reformulation in search systems. As a result, the artifacts allowed to identify Web search and query reformulation patterns. The Exploratory Search KiP model also aided to distinguish three main behaviors involved in exploratory searches: (1) The ability to increase the level of familiarity with the topic and content searched (topic familiarity); (2) The ability to control the search process itself; and (3) The ability to assess the retrieved information relevance. Passenger data such as real-time origin-destination (OD) flows and waiting times are central to planning public transportation services and improving visitor experience. This project explored the use of Internet of Things (IoT) Technology to infer transit ridership and waiting time at bus stops. Specifically, this study explored the use of Raspberry Pi computers, which are small and inexpensive sets of hardware, to scan the Wi-Fi networks of passengers’ smartphones. The process was used to infer passenger counts and obtain information on passenger trajectories based on Global Positioning System (GPS) data. The research was conducted as a case study of the Streamline Bus System in Bozeman, Montana. To evaluate the reliability of the data collected with the Raspberry Pi computers, the study conducted technology-based estimation of ridership, OD flows, wait time, and travel time for a comparison with ground truth data (passenger surveys, manual data counts, and bus travel times). This study introduced the use of a wireless Wi-Fi scanning device for transit data collection, called a Smart Station. It combines an innovative set of hardware and software to create a non-intrusive and passive data collection mechanism. Through the field testing and comparison evaluation with ground truth data, the Smart Station produced accurate estimates of ridership, origin-destination characteristics, wait times, and travel times. Ridership data has traditionally been collected through a combination of manual surveys and Automatic Passenger Counter (APC) systems, which can be time-consuming and expensive, with limited capabilities to produce real-time data. The Smart Station shows promise as an accurate and cost-effective alternative. The advantages of using Smart Station over traditional data collection methods include the following: (1) Wireless, automated data collection and retrieval, (2) Real-time observation of passenger behavior, (3) Negligible maintenance after programming and installing the hardware, (4) Low costs of hardware, software, and installation, and (5) Simple and short programming and installation time. If further validated through additional research and development, the device could help transit systems facilitate data collection for route optimization, trip planning tools, and traveler information systems.
