Pseudomonas marginalis is an important postharvest pathogen causing soft rot in a wide variety of harvested fruits and vegetables. Isolated strains from rotten onion bulbs based on morphological characteristics, were tested for pathogenecity on tobacco. Pathogenic strains underwent a biochemical test which detected the presence of P. marginalis. Symptoms were reproduced by inoculating this species to onion leaves and bulbs. Based on ARN16S sequencing, reported associated species (Pantoea agglomerans, Pseudomonas fluorescens, Klebsiella oxytoca) were also confirmed. This study reports for the f

BACKGROUND: The access to safe drinkingwater is increasingly difficult, especially in water catchment or coastal areas. Due to the difficulty, people in coastal areas tend to consume ready-to-use refilled drinking-water. However, the sanitation facilities on most drinking-water refill depots do not meet the requirements, hence really prone to microbial contamination. We conducted this study to determine the types of bacteria causing the contamination of refilled drinking-water from refill depots in Abeli, a coastal area in Kendari.METHODS: Samples were collected from all 6 drinkingwater refill

Over the years, resistance to antimicrobials has become one of the world's biggest public health problems. This problem deserves attention not only in medicine but also in veterinary medicine since microorganisms have zoonotic potential. For that reason, this study aims to report a case of feline emphysematous cystitis caused by a multiresistant Klebsiella oxytoca Extended Spectrum Beta-lactamase (ESBL) producer associated with an Enterococcus sp. The production of indole acetic acid (IAA) is a significant property of rhizospheric bacteria to stimulate and promote plant growth. In this investigation, indole acetic acid-producing bacteria from the rhizosphere of five distinct plants (Wheat, Gulchen, Rose, Lady Finger, and Bouginvella) were isolated and characterized. Bacterial strains were isolated and identified by morphological characterization. Out of 30 bacterial isolates, 5 isolates were selected as efficient producers of Indole acetic acid. The cases of antibiotic resistance in Enterobacteriaceae are of great global concern. This study aimed at contributing towards the fight against antibiotic resistance and ameliorate the management/treatment of Enterobacteriaceae-linked diseases. Ten (10) rectal swab samples were collected from five (5) male and five (5) females and two isolates were identified from the samples collected. The isolates were identified through colonial, morphological and biochemical tests carried out following standard procedures.
