Few scientists have dedicated themselves to the study of Colombia’s cockroach diversity. As a result, there are large gaps in the taxonomic knowledge of Colombian cockroach fauna that make species identification difficult and little information is available on their geographic distribution. Therefore, a taxonomic study of the suborder Blattaria was undertaken by examining the literature and studying specimens available in the country’s main entomological collections. A list of genera with their respective distribution in the various biogeographic regions was obtained. Two thousand, one hundred

Nereididae is among the most familiar of marine annelid families, common and well-studied in most marine environments but paradoxically no recent key or identification guide exists to the world's genera. Here updated generic descriptions, a list of characters, a linear key to genera, and minimal diagnoses that distinguish each genus from all others in the family are provided. This information is generated from a Delta database of 186 morphological characters and a link is provided to downloadable software allowing the same data to be interrogated using the open-source Delta program Intkey – a

When listing the tardigrade species found in a study, the general practice is to sort the list alphabetically or taxonomically by genus. The first time a genus name is used it is spelled out and then it is abbreviated with the first letter of the genus followed by a full stop (period) until a different genus is encountered. This practice works for both a paragraph and a table listing and has been used by tardigrade researchers as far back as Schultze (1834). In the last monograph, Ramazzotti & Maucci (1983) presented a listing of the 52 generic abbreviations they used. We present an update
