Oil from seeds of Citrus sinensis and M. barteri were extracted by solvent extraction using n-hexane. The percentage yield of the oil from seeds of Citrus sinensis and M. barteri was ascertained as 36.21 % and 12.56 % respectively. Physicochemical properties of the seed oils of Citrus sinensis and M. barteri were determined using standard methods. The extracted oils were further examined for antimicrobial studies. Nonetheless, oil extracted from Citrus sinensis and M. barteri seeds exhibits notable antimicrobial activity against every tested organism, including fungi and bacteria. However, at

Maesobotrya barteri fruit is commonly consumed in southern Nigeria, owing to its medicinal and nutritional benefits. This study investigated the phytochemical composition, antioxidant activity, and GC-MS profile of methanol and aqueous extracts of M. barteri fruit. The antioxidant properties of both extracts were assessed using DPPH radical scavenging activity, ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP), and metal-chelating activity assays. Phytochemical screening revealed saponins, tannins, flavonoids, and cardiac glycosides in both extracts, whereas alkaloids and anthraquinones were absent. Th

Maesobotrya barteri is widely used in Nigerian ethnomedicine to treat diabetes, arthritis, and infections. The methanol and aqueous leaf extracts' phytochemical constituents and antioxidant potentials were evaluated using standard procedures. At the same time, the enzyme inhibitory activity of methanol extract on α-amylase and α-glucosidase in rats was also investigated. The antioxidant properties of the extracts were evaluated by the 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging activity, ferric reducing power (FRAP), and the metal chelating activity.
