The present investigation on “Studies on Biochemical Changes in Immature Mangoes (Mangifera indica L.) cv Konsam Heinou of Manipur Using Different Skin Coatings during storage” was carried out during month of May-June of the year 2021 at Post Graduate Laboratory, Department of Horticulture, College of Agriculture, Central Agricultural University, Manipur. Freshly collected uniform sized mango fruits were picked, washed, cleaned and treated in the laboratory with various coatings, including castor oil (T1), palm oil (T2), coconut oil (T3), mustard oil (T4), aloevera gel (T5), paraffin wax (T6), cling film (T7), and no coating (T8). The experiment was framed in CRD (Completely Randomized Design) and repeated 3 times with 7 treatments and an uncoated treatment. The results obtained from the current investigation on biochemical changes in quality parameters the fruits treatments with cling film (T7) had minimum TSS, TSS : Acid ratio, reducing sugar and total sugar content with maximum acidity content while fruits coating with paraffin wax (T6) and cling film(T7) had maintaining of chlorophyll content up to 15th days of storage under ambient condition.

The three mammalian orders Chiroptera, Rodentia, and Eulipotyphla constitute the bulk of small mammalian species. In spite of their diversity, numerical preponderance, and widespread distribution, they are the least explored mammals with serious information gap on the diversity and distribution especially in the context of northeastern India. To partially fill this crucial information gap, we conducted two extensive field surveys covering nine districts of Manipur state during 2019 and 2021 resulting in the collection of 62 examples of these groups. Besides, 12 additional examples of bats and shrews from Manipur deposited at the North Eastern Regional Centre (NERC) of ZSI, Shillong and two specimens of rodents deposited in Manipur University in recent times were also examined. Based on these voucher records and field evidences, we report the presence of 38 species of small mammals from the state including 27 species of bats, 10 species of rodents and one species of shrew. Out of these, 12 species of bats have been recorded for the first time from the state. It is expected that the present inventory will expand with further surveys as fossorial rodents and shrews were not adequately sampled during the present studies.

The present article deals with the forgotten genre of the film photonovel and the magazines that published this kind of movie adaptations in the decade between 1955 and 1965. It studies the various models that were copied or appropriated by this genre that was most popular in Italy and France. The main focus lies on the manner in which the layout principles of these magazines manipu-lated the narrative and sequential principles of the movies they adapted. How did they succeed in offering new forms of visual montage that enabled them to combine storytelling on the one hand and portrait photography on the other? Finally, the paper discusses the differences between the better-known movie story magazines which fictionalized the movies while illustrating them with set pictures, and the film photonovel, in which word and image combinations were directly inspired by the photonovel magazines.

There has been a lot of progress in recent years in the fields of expert systems, artificial intelligence (AI) and human machine interface (HMI). The use of voice commands to engage with machinery or instruct it to do a certain task is becoming more common. Numerous consumer electronics have SIRI, Alexa, Cortana, and Google Assistant built in. In the field of human-device interaction, emotion recognition from speech is a complex research subject. We can't imagine modern life without machines, so naturally there's a need to create a more robust framework for human-machine communication. A number of academics are now working on speech emotion recognition (SER) in an effort to improve the interaction between humans and machines. We aimed to identify four fundamental emotions: angry, unhappy, neutral and joyful from speech in our experiment. As you can hear below, we trained and tested our model using audio data of brief Manipuri speeches taken from films. This task makes use of convolutional neural networks (CNNs) to extract functions from speech in order to recognize different moods using the Mel-frequency cepstral coefficient (MFCC).

En 1969 Carlos Saura rueda su película La madriguera en la casa que Javier Carvajal ha construido para su familia a las afueras de Madrid. La vivienda no ha sido todavía ocupada pero algunos muebles del arquitecto ya están colocados. Más allá de ser un mero escenario la casa toma un claro papel en la trama de la obra, dejando secuencias que suponen una oportunidad para acercar la experiencia espacial a quien nunca la haya visitado. Sin embargo, es importante entender las divergencias entre la casa-contexto de la película y la casa proyectada para ser vivida. Un análisis comparativo acerca aún más a la realidad del conocimiento perceptivo. El director manipula conscientemente el espacio hasta obtener la condición óptima para acoger la vida de su familia imaginaria. El ensamblaje entre los exteriores de la casa Carvajal y la de sus suegros, la neutralidad material en la recreación del ambiente, la desaparición del detalle, la falta de transición en los recorridos aplacan la impronta de una obra cuyo significado reside en las secuencias espaciales que dan sentido a la percepción. Javier Carvajal, con gran influencia de la arquitectura árabe, forja la totalidad de la obra a través de su tránsito y articulaciones. In 1969, Carlos Saura films his film La Madriguera in the house that Javier Carvajal has built for his family on the outskirts of Madrid. The house has not yet been occupied but some of the architect’s furniture is already in place. Beyond being a simple set, the house plays an important role in the film’s storyline. It contributes to sequences that represent an opportunity to bring the a-spatial experience closer to those who have never experienced it. However, it is important to understand the differences between the film-context house and the house designed to be lived in. A comparative analysis brings the reality of perceptive knowledge even closer. The director consciously manipulates the space until getting optimal conditions to house the life of his imaginary family. The assembly between the outdoors of the Carvajal house and those of his in-laws, the material neutrality in the recreation of the atmosphere, the disappearance of details and the lack of transitions in itineraries soothe the imprint of an endeavour that has its meaning in the spatial sequences that grant meaning to perception. Javier Carvajal, greatly influenced by Arabic architecture, shapes the whole assignment through its transitions and joints.

The Tarao and Kharam tribes settled in Manipur are amongst the least populated tribes in the State. Although recognized as Scheduled Tribes by the Government of India in 2003, these tribes fare amongst the neglected groups in terms of healthcare system, access to transport and communication, education, and most government welfare schemes. With total population of around one thousand individuals only, these tribes have long suffered in the shadow of other major tribes, necessitating them to identify themselves with major tribes to avail government welfare schemes and other facilities including availing government issued health, education and social welfare certificates and cards. In instances where immediate health facilities are not available in the village or nearby locations, the villagers rely on their knowledge of traditional medicine to cure ailments. The wisdom of the elders on the medicinal value of herbs and plants serves to fill in the gaps where the State apparatus had not reached the remote villages. For instance, the Tarao elders treasure the properties of the Hakungnaii plant to cure gum injury and treatment of kidney stone. In the age of science, the villagers have to rely on their traditional wisdom and knowledge to fill in the gaps left by the State.

The more than half a century long armed conflicts in the Northeast of India have created a condition of existence in the region that is often described in pathological terms like ‘crisis’ or ‘disorder’. Such diagnostic attitude towards the region invites ‘solutions’ to ‘fix’ it. This has result in increasing militarization of the region on the one hand and opening up markets on the other. In the rush for a ‘solution’ we might have denied intelligibility to the everyday life of people in the region. The report examines some of the creative ways in which people constantly navigate and negotiate a field of contesting powers. In 2000, Hindi films were banned by militant Manipuri nationalist groups in an effort to stop what they have called the process of Indianization. The report explores the circumstances in which the ban took place as well as the trajectories that the ban has taken. In this engagement with the ban, the report uncovers that any attempt, by the Indian state as well as the militant Manipuri nationalist, to put bodies in fixed categories is often frustrated and negotiated in everyday practices.<br>text

A History of India’s North-East Cinema:Deconstructing the Stereotypes, the first book on the history of cinema in this region, depicts the journey from the first Assamese film,Joymoti(1935), to the present time. This book addresses the peripheral status and identity crisis of North-Eastern people in mainland India, a region that comprises eight states, and examines the role of Bollywood in the construction and misrepresentation of this region in popular Hindi cinema. The book is divided into three parts. Part I looks at how the people of the North-East are constructed as 'foreigners’ or ‘outsiders' by mainland Indians, due to their physical facial features. Part II discusses the socio-political and cultural shifts in the region of Assam, the issue of Assamese identity which led to the Assam Movement and the upsurge of the insurgent group United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA). It provides a nuanced discussion on the background and foreground of the first and second Assamese films,Joymoti(1935) andIndramalati(1939). Part III traces the journey of cinema in the seven other North-Eastern states—Manipur, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Mizoram, Tripura and Sikkim, narrating the regions’ socio-political phenomena and the unique cultural discourses. For instance, one of the chapters examines the turbulent period beginning with the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA) and its impact on the growth of cinema in the region. The book contains a rare collection of film posters, newspaper advertisements, photographs, letters and other documents, representing both the public and private domain of film-making.

Abstract Hailed as an “Iche” (elder sister), Irom Sharmila is the subject of many genres—poetry, songs, documentary films, and artwork. This chapter looks at the activist-poet’s collection Fragrance of Peace (2010) to examine the paradoxical way her body is seen as a site of resistance, her naming and identification through the kin term “sister,” and her status within Manipuri literature. It is significant that Irom is a rarely anthologized poet. Her work cannot be found in any anthologies on the literature of Northeast India, while, ironically, writings about her activism abound. Though her oeuvre is much more than protest poetry, this collection of poems foregrounds the political role of her poetry. The chapter juxtaposes Irom’s own self-representation through her poetry with works written about her. Through this exercise, the intention is to explore the place of women in the construction of a collective resistance and its conscious self-representation in literature.

Neste capítulo do livro Letras na Perspectiva do GEPL Vol. 1 apresenta uma investigação detalhada sobre a construção narrativa e a interpretação literária em diversas obras clássicas e contemporâneas. Os estudos reunidos nesse capítulo exploram a profundidade da narrativa literária, abordando aspectos estilísticos, temáticos e críticos de forma inovadora. Iniciando com uma análise da obra "Crônica de uma Morte Anunciada", de Gabriel Garcia Marquez, o capítulo conta com duas abordagens complementares: uma que explora a estrutura e os elementos narrativos da obra (Bruna das Mercedes Arruda da Silva) e outra que se concentra no papel do narrador como guia e mediador do destino dos personagens (Edilez Mariano de Brito). Essas análises destacam as complexidades da narrativa e a maneira como Garcia Marquez manipula o tempo e o espaço na construção do enredo. Em seguida, o capítulo avança para uma análise multidimensional da teoria literária (Raildes Cerqueira Ramos), que investiga como a literatura pode representar a realidade por meio de diferentes camadas de interpretação. Introdução: O termo Gaslight significa violência psicológica sutil em que a mulher é manipulada pelo opressor. Como em toda forma de violência, a vítima necessita de atendimentos especializados, entre eles o do psicólogo, para possibilitar o empoderamento dessa mulher. Objetivo: Analisar o empoderamento feminino diante da violência psicológica praticada pelo opressor. Material e métodos: A metodologia foi a revisão teórica da literatura com o método de pesquisa bibliográfica e exploratória. Os materiais foram livros, dissertações, teses, monografias e artigos científicos disponíveis em bases de dados científicas como Scientific Electronic Library Online (Scielo), repositório da UNESC, Repositório Institucional da UFJF entre outros publicados no período de 2008 a 2021. Resultados: Os resultados indicam que a violência psicológica compromete a autoestima da mulher e a vergonha aparece como sentimento predominante. Evidenciou-se que no campo clínico o fenômeno gaslight é uma forma de abuso psicológico na qual informações falsas conduzem a mulher a duvidar de suas próprias memórias, percepções e julgamentos. Compreendeu-se que Gaslight é uma agressão sutil à mulher onde o agressor manipula, engana, confunde, esconde, desrespeita, tem agressividade e intoxica a identidade da vítima. Entre as consequências mais graves da violência psicológica, estão inseridos os problemas de saúde causados pelo intenso sofrimento psicológico, entre os problemas pesquisados estão sintomas tais como dores crônicas, síndrome do pânico, depressão, tentativa de suicídio e distúrbios alimentares. Conclusão: O estudo possibilitou conhecer, conceituar, estabelecer relações entre agressor e agredida, entre violência e empoderamento da mulher. Falar sobre a violência é uma forma de alertar a sociedade e pessoas que estão vivendo relações de abuso para buscar ajuda e que precisam ter coragem para sair da situação submetida. As contribuições da psicologia são evidentes pois, é necessário fomentar debates em torno da violência contra a mulher e seu empoderamento a fim de elevar sua autoestima, seu amor próprio e autoconceito. Nesse sentido, a psicologia com intervenções psicoterapêuticas promove a redução do sofrimento psicológico, melhorando a qualidade de vida dessas mulheres. Considera-se que a desconstrução do comportamento gaslight em mulheres vítimas de violência é um fator importante e que precisa ser discutido.
