This thesis assessed the current prospect for implementing an ecosystem-based management for fisheries (EBFM) in the Bay of Bengal Large Marine Ecosystem from national and regional level perspectives. A central result of the study is that the governance concept had been defined and used imprecisely in the literature. In this thesis I investigated the status of the Mediterranean Sea ecosystem and the sustainability of its marine resources using an interdisciplinary approach, which combined data integration and modelling approaches.
